  Lali Barriere is active in the scene of free improvisation in Barcelona. She works with acoustic and amplified objects, electronic devices, field recordings and computer programming.

  Noish is the moniker of experimental programmer and musician Oscar Martin. He bases his work on the deconstruction of field recordings, non-conventional synthesis and the creative use of technological errors.

  Miguel A. García (aka Xedh) from the Basque country, is one of the most dynamic sound artists in the Spanish scene. His work focuses mainly on composition and electro-acoustic improvisation. He uses sounds taken from electronic residue, often interrelated with field recordings or acoustic instruments, in the search of an intimate, intense and immersive experience.

Through out the month of November 2012 we are going to emit Duration | One month, result of the collaboration between the project Security Device and metaminaFNR.

Duration | One month is part of the Duration series, where has been used only a selection of 60 excerpts from sound recordings of AE Harris Factory's machines in Birmingham - UK, and were also the raw material for the recently released cassette Machine Pattern # 01. These extracts have a different duration, ranging from 00:01 (00:02, 00:03….) 00:60 seconds, and will be mixed by a script that we have running on the server. In the programming level we divided the 60 files in 6 groups of 10, each of these groups is associated with a player, what we hear is the superposition of the 6 players. The organic nature of this final mixture got it by creating gaps of silence waiting at the end of each play, which varies randomly from 666 to 30000 milliseconds and by the nature of the material itself, with this we get temporalities in the final mix of different density. listen >> http://metaminafnr.hotglue.me/?duration

Institución_RS >> /dev/dsp presents the process of transcoding the digital images in the Museo Reina Sofía collection that appear on its webpage, providing an interpretation of the institution’s digital body and producing a sound that contains both a representation of culture and the process of its institutionalisation. Thus, José Val del Omar’s idea of converting the entire history of art into light and colour using mechanical processes is recovered.

In this case, digital processes and free software (strictly limited to Linux, Pure Data and Supercollider) were used to the transform and sonify archives of images, experimenting with different techniques based on the analysis and extraction of both visual and sound data and the use of these data to generate a new sound resynthesis.

Oscar Martín works somewhere between computer music, the aesthetics of error and generative noise in his pursuit of the construction of autonomous sound universes. He composes imaginary spaces that attempt to open up avenues for active listening and develop different attitudes towards the perception of the aural phenomenon.

The piece establishes a re-reappropriation of culture, insofar as it draws on the culture belonging to the commons and appropriated by the institution to transform it into free sound information. Institución_RS >> /dev/dsp is like other works by Oscar Martín such as noise&capitalism.txt >> /dev/dsp and trAnsCodE-> in that it, too, takes references from Code Art Brutalism (Simon Yuill)
