a while ago @askoverkill made a couple posts about how they'd like a custom isat dialogue maker that had layer functionality, and i saw that and immediately took it up as a coding challenge :>

so i immediately started working on it, forgot about it for about 2 months, and then finished it up surprisingly quickly. it's still missing a lot of potential features, and everything is essentially the bear minimum to get it working, but hey, i learned how to use godot doing thing and i'm proud of it and also it's really cool. did you know you can tell computers to do stuff??? that's so cool!!!

also, have to mention kongkrog's isat profile customizer here!!! it's what everyone's been using for a while now, and it has features that my take on this doesn't. it's really good, and i referenced its code quite a bit while making this

Day 144: Jerd

hmmm ok but what if Siffrin was an actual outer god :)

eldritch Siffrin who descended to this plane with all the wide-eyed curiosity of a child finding their first anthill. Siffrin who, upon their arrival, caused mass destruction across the world and became a blight that nearly snuffed out humanity.

Siffrin, who over the course of a few hundred years, becomes an infamous looming deity that represents death and suffering and all things evil. an inevitable dark god that isn't mere legend, but a visible threat hanging in the skies, in the land.

Siffrin, who like a child learning their first steps, eventually begins to figure out how to better interact with this plane. condense parts of themselves so they're no longer the mist of a forest that suffocates, but a wandering mass of less deadly sludge full of ever-changing, half-formed limbs. across the globe, they take countless different forms, all different but still understood to be the same all-encompassing dark god that crawled out from humanity's grave. they roam as monsters, imitating the world around them in the form of uncanny blights full of teeth, eyes, stone, and bark.

Siffrin, who after several more generations, perfects this imitation. monsters are documented to have evolved over time, becoming more adept at camouflage. most religions suspect this is how the dark god sows discord–with tricks and lies, illusions meant to lure humans into its wicked hold. humanity fears that soon, it may be able to convincingly wear human skin on one of its countless limbs.

Siffrin, who learns to do just that.

Siffrin, who spends time clumsily learning more and more about humans. who finally gets to observe them from the inside. who watches, with awe and wonder and love love love love. it loves these little creatures, it loves how they sound, how they play and create, how they work with separate minds and separate bodies. it loves this thing called companionship, how such a thing was impossible before, when everything was Siffrin and Siffrin was everything.

Siffrin, who bites too much from the apple. Siffrin, who begins to not just see, but understand humans. Siffrin, who realizes one day thousands of years after his initial destruction and countless deaths under his hands… what he's done.

Siffrin, who learns what sorrow is. with joy, comes pain. with love, comes regret. an immortal universe that laments what they are, terrified to stay–but cannot bring themselves to leave this world. cannot return to the cold when it finally knows warmth.

And the party, who unknowingly picks up an eldritch outer god in who's still coming to terms with all of this, unsure of themselves and scared to hurt these tiny ants he loves so much.
