Almost every sin isn’t inherently sinful (I say almost because I’m not sure with Greed and Envy and Sloth)

How they turn into sins is have to much of it.

‘The dose makes the poison,’ if you will.

It’s okay to be prideful. Too much of it can turn into arrogance.

It’s okay to be angry. Too much of it can turn into wrath.

Remember how mindful Ozzie and Queen Bee are despite being Sins. Ozzie promotes consent and Bee wants everyone to have a good time for the sake of having a good time.

You know, with Lucifer being the Sin of Pride, I kinda expected him to be…harsher? More arrogant? Solemn? Certainly, I wasn’t expecting a rubber-duck collecting, jazz singing, cat-loving enthusiastic goober. It feels like “proud” and “self-important” have gotten their wires crossed in my brain.

Because I’m realizing now that stuff like cooing over a cat, pet goats, etc., using embarrassing nicknames, hearing people take a dig at your less-than-commanding appearance, and having your familial drama, all the while not caring how many people have a front row seat to watch it happen….

That kinda is pride, isn’t it? Not to act the way everyone else thinks is proper or expects of you, but to do the exact opposite and not care what people think. Lucifer severely outclasses all of Hell, but especially sinners — why would he value their opinions? He may regret that he got cast out of Heaven just for humanity to abuse their free will, but the rest of his life and personality he’s seemingly pretty comfortable with.

The opposite of pride is SHAME. Of course Lucifer is shameless about being immature or weird or cringy!

What I Expected

Lucifer: I am the king of Hell and I don't give a shit about anybody because its Hell and no one fucking cares and I can do whatever the fuck I want. I love my daughter, but I can't let her know that and be weak. She must prove herself to gain my respect.

I half expected Angel to do the same to Pentious’ shed skin…

Sir Pentious is a snake, so it's only reasonable to assume he sheds his skin, right?

{Sir Pentious' skin is hanging ominously over the bar counter, slumped like a drunk}

Angel Dust, shaking its shoulder: Hey~ You ok, Pentious...?

{The skin falls to the side, revealing the hollow eyes and mouth to be agape as if in a silent scream}

Angel Dust, scrambling back: HOLY SHIT- he's dead!! Sir Pentious, frog blinking as he sips his morning drink: Eh-? Who isss?

{This time the skin is flumped halfway on the ground, suspiciously hanging out of a pristine dumpster}

Emily, squeaking and rushing over: Oh my goodness! Are you okay, Sir Pentious??

{The skin folds easily under her hands, the upper half detatching as the dumpster shuts itself and it ends up landing fully in the little angel's arms}

Emily, shaking as tears build up: Sir- Sir Pentious...? Shiny Pentious, slithering over behind her: Hmm? Yesss, Msss. Emily? Is everything alright?

{He sees the skin in her arms and his hood flattens down as she looks up at him teary eyed}

Shiny Pentious: ...oh, dear

I know that it's probably just a background detail and may not hold any relevance...

But those three eyes in the back...Maybe its because of the lining, but it makes the eyes look sad in a way...

If the hotel held some level of sentience, its like what was left of it was mourning the loss as well...

Hazbin Hotel Thoughts: Episodes 7 & 8 (FINALE)

SPOILERS

Whoooooooooooooooo, boooooooooooooooy....

These last episodes were amazing!!!

I'll admit, I was a smidge spoiled by tumblr posts and Youtube thumbnails...not cool to those who don't put a spoiler warning or stamp and used the 'keep reading' line. Come on!

Anyways, where to begin...

A lot of sweet stuff in Episode 07, plus some somber stuff.

Vaggie gained back her wings! I guess its because she got them wrongfully taken by Adam and Lute rather than being 'fallen' in the eyes of Heaven.

Kinda cool to see how helpful Carmilla and Rosie were. And I adored Rosie and her chemistry with Alastor! I love how supportive they were for Charlie, almost acting like her mother and father. So cute!

The fight in the finale was epic!

One of my favorite moments during the battle (besides Alastor vs Adam and Lucifer appearing) is Charlie manifesting a demonic arm. This is a reference to her original design!

And Razzle and Dazzle can turn into dragons?! But, Dazzle died! Nooooooooo!

Sir Pentious becoming a Winner is one of things that got spoiled for me, but it didn't diminish my thoughts and feelings on the matter because I didn't know how. He sacrificed himself for the other's safety, a selfless sacrifice at that which does harcon back to a biblical quote.

Emily is still friggin' cute and HA! Take that, Sera!

Adam dying was another thing spoiled. It was also unexpected. Still liked seeing it happen and by Niffty by all people. I do wonder what happens when an angel dies by an angelic weapon...like, are they permanently gone too or...

That moment with Alastor...man ain't doing good and I'm curious who has a leash on him. Some people seems to think that Alastor has plans to take over Hell once he is freed from this but...I don't know, it doesn't seem to be his style. I mean, I also wouldn't like being stifled by someone else and would want to break free.

Again, I've been wrong before, so let's see how this plays out. And Alastor seems to have genuine care, but, unsurprisingly, he views this as a weakness and wishes to toss that aside for his own goals (one being to free himself). I do wonder how this will come to play.

Wait...Lilith has been in Heaven this whole time? And she made a deal? And it seems to had been connected to Adam...was it to keep Charlie safe?

Wow...I feel kinda stupid that I didn't remember her.

She makes a good candidate for being the one to have ownership over Alastor's soul as well. She has bit of that eldritch/Lovecraftian horror too.

Hazbin Hotel Theory: An Eldritch Hold?

Did the latest two episodes drop epic bombshells on us or what?

I’ll be talking about one bombshell that was revealed in Episode 5, Dad Beat Dad.

I kinda brushed upon it before, but now, I want to talk about it in full.

Prior to this, it was revealed that both Lilith and Alastor had been absent for about 7 years, which that in of itself sounds pretty sus. Even sussier when taking account that 7 is considered one of, if not the most, sacred number in the Bible, being used heavily in Revelations.

In ‘Dad Beat Dad’, Husk made a rebuttal to Alastor’s remark of the former being his ‘pet.’ What Husk said was ‘Big talk from someone who’s also on a leash.’

And Alastor’s reaction to this, says it all: Alastor has sold his soul.

But, to whom?

Many have said it was Lilith. She made a deal with Alastor to protect her daughter and I can get behind that. It does remind me of Alastor’s arrival to the hotel mere seconds after Charlie quote unquote called Lilith. That doesn’t really explain about the 7 year absence, but I digress.

While I did like this idea, I don’t think its connected to this leash Husk mentioned. Do I believe that Lilith and Alastor had made a deal? Yes, but it has nothing to do with this.

The reason why I think this is because Husk knows about it. So, unless Alastor told Husk what he has been doing over the last 7 years, I don’t think Lilith holds the leash.

No…I think its someone else. Someone that is personifically sinful in nature. Envious. Eldritch.

Leviathan Von Eldritch, the Sin of Envy.

I've actually talked about Leviathan a bit in a YouTube video about the concept of Lovecraftian creatures making their possible appearance in Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss and Leviathan is in fact one of them. Leviathan is also connected to the sin of Envy and, quite possibly, is connected (if not related) to the Von Eldritch family. I had mentioned Alastor in that video as, really, his powers can look Lovecraftian in nature, especially the tentacles.

I did want to mention the green aura that appears when Alastor uses his powers, but I think it's because it is more pleasing to the eyes than a red aura to a character whose primary color is red.

If there was gonna be any kind of demon that Alastor would have sold his soul to, it would've been either from someone in the Royal Family or a Sin.

But why? Why would Alastor sell his soul? Did he get too cocky at one point and target the wrong demon? I almost find this hard to believe. From the way it seems from Mimzy's story, Alastor kept things on the down low before he revealed himself. It's possible that Alastor picked his victims carefully (perhaps under the advice of Rosie?).

Not only that, but how would Alastor have come across Leviathan (let alone Lilith) to make a mistake to attack?

While the deal and the reasoning behind the deal is unknown, it granted Alastor some bit of Leviathan's power. In exchange, he is under the ownership to the Sin of Envy.

Now, Alastor does have some bit of freedom. After all, Leviathan has his Ring to look after and he can't exactly take Alastor with him. But, whenever Leviathan decides to visit Pride, Alastor is at his mercy.

And Husk happens to see this firsthand.

Hazbin Hotel Thoughts: Alastor, Lucifer, Lilith, and Alastor's Leash?

It's already apparent that there seems to be a connection between Alastor and Lilith due to their time of absence being the same. The common theory is that they have made a deal that has something to do with Charlie and the hotel. Maybe to protect her.

I can see promise in this theory, especially when you take in the account of Alastor appearing in a matter of seconds after Charlie's 'call' to her mother in the pilot.

Do I think Lilith's the one who has a hold on Alastor, as hinted in Episode 5?

I actually don't think so. I do think that maybe Lilith and Alastor did strike a deal, but it has nothing to do with Alastor's own leash.

Why? Because Husk knows about it. Unless Alastor had disclosed his whereabouts of the past 7 years to Husk, which I kinda doubt. I feel that Alastor's leash to be more...

Personifically sinful in nature.

And, clearly, Lucifer has nothing to do with it as he had no idea who Alastor was.

Now that does bring up the question why Alastor was straight up hostile towards Lucifer the moment the king of hell came into the hotel. I don't think it was jealousy. Like, some believe that Alastor was butthurt because the attention wasn't on him. I don't think this is the case. There had been others who were put in the spotlight and Alastor didn't bat an eye. It could be that it has something to do with Lilith.

Sure as hell has nothing to do with being Charlie's father figure. Alastor just did all that to mess with Lucifer, escalating it a little after Lucifer made jabs at him. lol

I have been wrong before (I had doubts about Husk being a former Overlord and Vaggie being a former Exorcist), so take all of this with a grain of salt if you wish.

Spoilers for HH S01 Ep06

I had another epiphany.

Now, this is under the assumption that most of the lore behind Vaggie has remained true.

For one, she died in the early 2010s: Meaning she was human.

Another was that she was a prostitute in life. This is typically viewed as sinful because you're supposed to treat your body like a temple and, of course, no coitus until marriage.

And, yet, she was in Heaven.

This just further shows how not everything really is black and white. Yes, Vaggie sold her body (likely because it was probably the only way for her to earn a living), but she still possessed a kind heart.

Seriously, this show is like deconstructing a lot of stuff and I absolutely love it!

Hazbin Thoughts: Alastor VS Valentino

Spoilers for HH S01 EP05

After Husk pushed the right button, Alastor quickly showed who has the winning hand.

Despite Alastor being my favorite character, I cannot disagree with the similarities between him and Valentino with their views on the souls in their ownership.

Granted, I can still see Alastor as slightly more lenient than Valentino.

This isn't me defending his treatment of Husk (poor kitty...), I just want to point this out.

Alastor, for the most part, kinda just lets Husk do his thing until Alastor needs Husk for one reason or another. He lets Husk talk shit to him and the like, which is how he is with other people. Sure, Alastor can get irate or annoyed, but rarely does he ever evoke his Overlord/dealmaker status unless something specific gets under his skin.

And Husk reminding Alastor of his own 'leash' was one of those things. This was Alastor reminding Husk in turn of whose mercy he is in. Clearly, this 'leash' is an even greater sore spot than even the likes of Vox.

Which is...not too dissimilar to Angel's feelings about his servitude under Valentino.

Speaking of, Valentino wants full, absolute control over his minions. The sole reason he wanted Angel to stay at the studio was because the contract specifically stated that Valentino can do whatever to Angel as long as he was there (which parallels real life abusers). Evenso, Valentino isn't afraid to be physical with Angel, as seen in Ep06, when Angel stood his ground, despite knowing that Valentino will make his life a living hell (HA!) when he returns to the studio.

Valentino will not hesitate to put his underlings in their place for just the slightest of reasons.

Of course, Valentino is proven to be short-tempered while Alastor typically keeps his cool, so ol' Al isn't as likely to dish out punishments unless provoked.

Valentino wants to keep his minions on a short and tight leash. Meanwhile, Alastor uses one of those retractable leashes for his underlings, letting it extend, giving them some semblance of freedom, before reeling them back for their non negotiable cooperation.

Basically, Alastor is definitely the lesser of two evils.

Spoilers for Hazbin Hotel S1 Ep05

Husk's line "Big talk for someone who's also on a leash" towards Alastor is still ringing in my head.

A part of me thinks it has something to due with Lilith and Alastor's 7 year absence, but what goes against this is the fact that Husk knows or is privy to this information, unless Alastor told Husk what he's been doing over the last 7 years, but I doubt it.

The question remains: Who, or what, has a hold on Alastor?
