IGNORANCE from BLICKINSFREIE on Vimeo.
In this world there is so much talking about saving nature but actually humanity believes more to be able to control nature instead of trying to arrange ourselves with it in harmony. We know what needs to be done, but we ignore it. We like to enjoy it but not with a clear vision and a full understanding.
"IGNORANCE" is my personal statement, inspired by a casual early morning walk around a local lake in the beautiful Vogtland. Every time it gives me so much inpiration and a peaceful mind which is one of the main reasons I´m strongly connected to nature. This connection and its impact on my mind as well as health is essential for my daily life.
I found a beautiful ode to nature by Ravi Sathasivam which I adapted and slightly changed. This one definitly brings it to the point:
„When the early morning sun breaks through the darkness When the night tears dew spill morning from the sky
When the nature's tears raindrops pour down to the earth When all those trees dancing in the breeze beside the lake When all those daffodils and lavender fill the air with fragrances When all those butterflies and bees fly high in search of honey When all those wild mountain rivers are rushing through the valleys When all those beauty of waterfalls grab heart of a nation When all those mountain hills carpet with its greenery wonders When all those innocent animals grassing on the hill sides When all those bird's flight, as they climb and hover in the sky When all those wild animals freely walk around the jungle When all those seasons spring, summer, autumn, winter fill our heart with cheer.
When all those trouble hearts, the nature becomes a smooth healer ... But when, when will we finally stop ignoring you and being part of a larger whole.“

He Took His Skin Off For Me from Ben Aston on Vimeo.
The story of a man who takes his skin off for his girlfriend, and why it probably wasn't the best idea...
BEHIND THE SCENES - vimeo.com/116467047
Please turn off the lights. Use headphones. Go full screen. It's worth it.
'He Took His Skin Off For Me' is a practical SFX fairytale. No CGI whatsoever. Based on the short story by Maria Hummer it is my grad film from the London Film School. It took myself and producer Fiona Lamptey 2 years, 217 Kickstarter backers and a whole lot of fake blood to pull off. SFX legend Colin Arthur (NeverEnding Story, 2001: A Space Odyssey) helped us achieve the impossible, allowing SFX Supervisor Jen Cardno and her team set a new standard for anatomical practical effects. Actor Sebastian Armesto (Anonymous, Pirates of the Caribbean) spent as long as 8hrs in makeup each day to bring this story to life. Alongside Anna Maguire (Saving Private Ryan, Parade's End) they both give us something wonderful, horrible and completely unique. I don’t want to tell people what the film should be. Even finding a genre to describe it is difficult. I want people to come to this film just like I came to the original story, completely unprepared.
If I can leave with one pearl of wisdom, though; if you take off your skin just to be with somebody? That’s only ever going to end messy…

ELYSIUM from Beno Saradzic on Vimeo.
One of the most powerful films I’ve seen as a young boy is one most people have never heard of. Cryptically titled ‘Koyaanisqatsi’, this unique film employed only fantastically executed visuals backed by a hypnotic, dramatic music score to tell a story. It was a strange, experimental film, too hard to describe with words, but I was completely mesmerized by it. There was no (obvious) plot to follow, it had no actors or songs, but despite this, ‘Koyaanisqatsi’ was one incredibly immersive experience. Some of the most unique aspects of this film were its groundbreaking time lapse sequences. I was still very young and could not understand how they were filmed, but I do remember the impact they left on my impressionable mind. Many years have passed since then and I’ve chosen to pursue the art of photography and filmmaking as my career, of which time lapse cinematography takes its biggest share. I don’t know if this is a blessing or a curse, because shooting, processing and time lapse films take an immense amount of effort and patience, a fact unknown to most. But seeing the finished product, after all that hard work, still fill me with immeasurable joy and satisfaction. This motivates me to keep on learning in order to get better at the craft. ‘Elysium’ features the skylines of Dubai and Abu Dhabi which are among the most imposing and photogenic ones in the world. The quiet giants, soaring high into the Emirati skies are a source of awe and inspiration for any dreamer or photographer. What gives this film a dreamlike quality however is the elusive winter fog and its mysterious interaction with the tallest structures. Viewed from a high angle, the fog turns the cities into a grand canvas of visual poetry which could only be expressed with a language of time lapse cinematography. The fog’s formation is very hard to predict and therefore, it’s not easy to film. I was forced to spend many sleepless nights chasing the foggy conditions from various rooftops across the UAE. When the fog finally formed, and all elements came together, it was like witnessing magic. Watching the fog as it rolled between and over the buildings was such a haunting and utterly fascinating sight. It was a quite a logistical and technical challenge to capture all scenes I needed for a film, but it was all worth it.
Various scenes of ‘Elysium’ were captured in Dubai and Abu Dhabi between 2013 and 2017.
Music score: 'Bayt Lahm' by Ryan Taubert

Moran from Studio Aiko on Vimeo.
This CG animation clip is a personal and non-commercial project made by Meny Hilsenrad.
Meny Hilsenrad: "This project was created as a birthday surprise to my beloved wife Moran. It is entirely CG work except for the hands which were shot. Special thanks to Yair Alony for all the help and suggestions."
"The overall time it took to produce this piece was 9 month. the pre-production took 6 month and included gathering the entire photos I had which were quite a lot (approximately 25,000 photos). Then to choose and filter only the most suitable 372 photos according to the offline editing I did. The production itself took 3 month and included the creation of the 3D scene, animation, compositing and final edit."

For Philip Bloom, the path to success hasn't been a sprint. It's been a patient journey marked by an intentional separation between work, art, and life. Years of building a film career has shown him that the greatest rewards in life come when you're creating space for the relationships that matter most.

Under an Arctic Sky - Behind the Scenes from Chris Burkard on Vimeo.
Before Under An Arctic Sky was even an idea or a film it was a love affair with surfing in cold water. Over the last decade Chris Burkard (Director &) Ben Weiland (DP) traveled across the globe seeking out waves in some of the coldest and most remote conditions on the planet. Why would anyone ever want to surf in cold water one might ask? Simple.. to thrust ourselves out of the safe and the routine, the familiar and known, and to hopefully create a space where the unknown can occur. Under an Arctic Sky was this unknown.
We endured the largest storm Iceland had seen in 25 years and we began to question whether this trip was doomed for failure from the start… There were so many moments while filming for where we should have called it quits. Like when our car got stuck in an avalanche, Renan Ozturk got 25 stitches from a drone or when the surfers had ice forming around their wetsuit while surfing at 1 am in the Arctic Circle. The best projects always require you to suffer a little bit, and that is exactly what we did.
