FILMING PROCESS

Whilst filming, I took photos of one of us, within our group, filming and the equipment used in the different locations that we had moved to, along with the script, each time we had to film a change of location. Whilst filming one particular scene, it had started raining outside, and so Himisha (Other member of group) held an umbrella over the camera, so that it doesn't affect anything that is shot and also, so that the camera does not get affected with the water.

‘Cast & Script’ meetings

After conducting our survey to general people, my group and I had a meeting with some of our actors who are going to be playing a character within the trailer.

Filming for our Survey

Before we start filming, we have conducted a survey, where we had made a list of about 10 - 12 questions and we asked a different people questions, as to what they think about Soap Opera’s and Soap opera trailers. 

We will then use this information and feedback as a background and an insight into how to construct the perfect Soap Opera trailer and how to make it appealing to the age bracket that we are targeting our Soap Opera trailer to.

My Roles within the Task

For our groups project, my main role is the Editor. This means that I am in charge of completing any task that involves editing, such as the survey and main Trailer task. I need to make sure that everything is correctly edited before it is uploaded. I will be completing the storyboard which will be based off our completed final version of the script. This will easily demonstrate and create a clear visual for our trailer before filming and editing and aid us in making any changes if necessary. As editing the film, I need to be particularly aware of anything that needs fixing and use all of my skills I know in editing in order to make it the perfect trailer.

1st Initial Update on Planning & Research

For my A2 Media Coursework, I am working in a small group of 3 to create a 1 minute and 45 seconds trailer for our conventional Soap Opera trailer. The other two members of my group are: Shayna West-Watson & Himisha Yagnik.

On Wednesday 20th September 2017, we my group and I had met up to discuss small individual roles and tasks of who is doing what between each of us to get us started. We decided that the main roles of each member for the main tasks are as follows:

During the meeting, we discussed how we are going to complete the mindmap, script, storyboard, and survey, as well as filming the shots for the trailer.

My main tasks are to make sure that all of the editing for the survey and main task are complete before uploading and evaluating. Within our group, each of us will contribute to completing the mindmap, script, and storyboard.

We have also decided that we would meet up for regular meetings and updates every wednesday each week. This will allow us to make sure that we are on track of everything and up to date for the deadlines.

Additionally, we have been set with a research tasks of Soap operas genres, which we must complete before we can start the planning for our trailer.

Hi there and welcome to my Blog page for my A2 Media Studies Course.

Thaims of the unit G324 coursework are to produce a Soap Opera genre trailer as well as specific marketing materials for our trailer, and this will be completed by panning and research made based around the genre. This planning and research will help n the build up to actually filming and editing a short trailer for a brand new soap opera called ‘Hollowside’. Throughout this unit, I will be able to develop my comprehension of the stereotypical codes and conventions of this genre and why this genre is widely attractive across the country.

I will also be able to prove my understanding of how to use promotion within our group by producing a stylized magazine and well structured promotional poster.

Finally, I will evaluate the entire production process and the final edited trailer, in order to demonstrate the progression that I have made within our group work as well as my own individual work.
