give me two characters who are each other’s home. two characters who feel completely safe, warm and protected in each other’s presence, and who are completely respected by the other. two people who, on some level or another, were missing that little extra spark they needed to feel fully confident and accepted as their whole selves until the other came along. they don’t “fix each other” or “make each other better”–they give the other the support they need to build on what was already inside them. sure they might kiss, or make goo-goo eyes, but they can also just…talk, and make each other laugh and smile, because for once they feel comfortable enough in themselves and with each other to be vulnerable in that way. two complete people who finally find someone to share all of themselves with. and no matter what they do or how far they go, they’ll always have each other to come back home to.

it's very telling when menma is keeping himself shrouded behind the safety of his hood, mask & cloak---a simple bouquet of flowers pokes out from the black cloth, & despite his mask, he still avoids looking at hoshi directly.

      Hoshi wasn’t surprised to see Menma at the academy at first; She had assumed he was there to see Naruto until she spotted the flowers. A mixture of Daturas and Brugmansias, her very favorite flowers. That alone was enough to make the young women blush, but his shyness only blush more.

     “Are those for me...?” Hoshi asks as she approaches Menma from the teachers desk. The papers she was helping Nartuo grade now long forgotten.

Jiraiya looked at her in surprise. Naruto was telling her about him and she got curious? Amazing. Considering how Naruto could describe him, he could only wonder how anyone wanted to deal with him after that. He frowned and snorted.

“My name is Jiraiya. This little brat will never remember how great a mentor he got.”

He raised his eyebrows at her last line.

“You and that Menma are his friends, am I guessing?”

      “Menma is his twin brother, and I am Menma’s teammate.” Their is a breif moment of silence from the bratty girl as she thinks over his question. “I like to think I am Naruto’s friend, but if he feels the same way or not I don’t know.”

      Hoshi makes a circle around the sage master as if trying to find a secret. Surely there is something she is missing? What is so great about a old man who calls his own student a brat? Even if it is true!

      “You don’t look crazy powerful...”“

     “I...I did it!” The timid boy cheers as he holds up a little beaker above his head. It has taken roughly two weeks of working along side Sylva to create his newest tranquilizer, but he did it! Now Mitzu just needs to find someone to be his test dummy. In theory this drug should have zero side effects, but has to make sure.

       “Yeah, pechie. Just lovely. I am going to lay here and die now.” Hoshi sticks up her thumb before collapsing to the ground. Mitzu asked her to try a new medicine to see how quickly it heals cuts. Clearly he should stick to making toxins.
