let me devour you. let me worship you. death comes this way in hopes of finding a lover someone to have around when endless time seems far too long. because aren't I suppose to devour you whole and worship you until they make you immortal? for time didn't matter as long as they were together death and his lover. what: A heart-to-heart is had between two women about a never changing fate.
who: Gwen & Mrs. Harris
where: The Harris House
when: July 27 2024
warnings: mentions of death, car accident, grief, depression
There had only been a few times when Gwen and Mrs. Harris were alone with each other. Though it was quite rare for Gwen to be here this early in the morning, she had gotten a message from a little bird that cinnamon rolls were a craving the whole house seemed to be having. So, she made her way to the bakery and grabbed two boxes of freshly baked cinnamon rolls with extra icing on them to the house. She arrived earlier than everyone else, so she let herself in with the key hidden underneath one of the rocks by the front door.
“It’s me, Gwendolyn!” She yelled, hopefully loud enough for both Mr. and Mrs. Harris to hear, as she made her way to the kitchen. “I bring gifts of a sweet breakfast treat!” It was an early Saturday morning and though she might’ve had other plans to do today, there was something special in being invited to a family get together with everyone in the Harris family. She didn’t know if this sort of thing happened every week or if it was randomly due to the nature of different schedules. Still, she liked being involved. She liked being wanted.
Mr. Harris had made his way down the stairs with a necklace in his hands. “Do you mind helping get this necklace on? My fingers are too big for this clasp.” He asked, holding it up for Gwen to see that it was in fact a small closure of the simply golden strand of jewels. A pretty normal thing for women’s necklaces that she didn’t mind helping at all. A nod was given before she grabbed the necklace and went upstairs.
She didn’t know the upstairs part of the house all that well. Or really at all as she looked down the hallway to see plenty of closed doors. The only hint of the main bedroom where Mrs. Harris would be was the light bleeding into the dark hallway from a crack in the door. She made her way to the door, knocking gently to signal herself to the woman before taking a few steps in the room. “Mrs. Harris?” She called out, looking around the room before finding the woman at her vanity in the bathroom. Gentle strokes of a makeup brush hit against the older woman’s face as she finished up the last few touches before the look was complete.
There was a light in her eyes that told Gwen it was going to be a good day. A day they would all be outside until the sun set along the ocean. A day desperately needed for everyone. “I was told you needed help with this necklace.” Gwen explained, holding up the piece of jewelry a little bit higher, and made her way to where the older woman was sitting. It took a few tries before the clasp finally hooked together. She hoped the plan to go down to the beach would still be okay once everyone arrived. “Would you like me to braid your hair? It might be a little windy outside.” Gwen suggested, not sure if she should leave the woman alone just yet.
This was new. The two women being alone without anyone else around. She either had Rhett or Carter or even Mr. Harris in the room with them. She wasn’t necessarily scared to be alone, but she didn’t have the experience of how to handle the ever looming situation. The sickness seemed to be a taboo topic except when it was absolutely necessary. And there was only so much in Gwen’s life that she could talk about before it became too redundant. “Sure.” Mrs. Harris answered before handing over the brush and a hair tie from one of the drawers.
Gwen gently brushed her blonde hair, starting at the bottom and working her way up towards the scalp. She treated it as if she was doing her own daughter’s hair with working out the tangles before sectioning off clumps of hair. She began a French braid when the sudden question nearly had her jumping in fright. “I know this will come off as rude, but… How did your late husband die, Gwendolyn?” It wasn’t the question that scared her, but more so the serious tone that now filled the room. Something important was bound to happen, the prickling of her skin said so.
“In a car accident. It was raining, a car swerved and hit him. He died from the impact. I was told it was rather quick and painless.” It didn’t hurt to talk about it, but the liveliness was sucked out from her voice. A rehearsed story she continued to tell anyone who asked because it was easier than to talk about the details.
“That must’ve been hard to recover from.”
“It was. But your son did help me when I finally decided to reenter the world of the living. He showed me kindness and not pity. He didn’t look at me as a widow, but as someone willing to help him find his drum sticks.” Gwen smiled at the memory, though Mrs. Harris did not.
“And you care for him as much as you say you do?” She asked, not stopping for an answer as she continued. “He’s going to need someone after I’m gone. He’s going to need someone who will hold him up when he can’t stand. Do you think you’ll be that person? Do you think you have what it takes?”
A bold question to ask when she was already familiar with the deep pit of grief. She didn’t know whether to take it as an insult or a challenge. Of course, Gwen would be there. This was her purpose here on earth. Tears welled in her eyes from either anger or sadness at how little Mrs. Harris thought of her. Or maybe it wasn’t how little, but a test. A test to see if she was ready for what would come. To make sure she wouldn't crumble as well.
“Just because I recovered doesn’t mean my grief is gone for good. Every day she’s there like an old sweater I can’t throw away. If you think I plan on leaving when things get difficult, then you must think very little of me. I learned to live with my grief, and I will be there for Rhett when his tries to drown him. I will help pull him out because that’s what you do.” She might’ve answered more harshly than intended. The braid now finished, she turned to leave when a hand grabbed her wrist to stop her.
Mrs. Harris had probably been used to hiding her emotions and masking to put on a brave face in front of everyone. It was probably second nature to continue on letting everyone believe she was okay. And so when Gwen looked behind her at the woman who stopped her, it was almost jarring in how scared she looked. A look Gwendolyn knew too well as she remembered seeing its reflection back at her in the mirror.
“I promise Rhett will always have me. I promise you he will be okay, and he won’t be alone. No matter what happens in the end, everything will be okay. There will always be a tomorrow and the sun will always shine.” Tears fell from her eyes for a different reason now. “And now we’ll go downstairs and enjoy the day. We must continue to celebrate the small joys or else despair will swallow us whole.”

Meet Addison O'Connell.
warnings: mentions of suicidal ideations, miscarriage, and parental abandonment
Addison O’Connell didn’t think she’d live past the age of eighteen. She didn’t know what would suffocate her first - the never-ending grief of a life she’d never get, or the hole left in her heart from when her father left. It does sound quite selfish if you didn’t know the whole story, and you didn’t understand that at one point for a brief second, she did have a piece of happiness before it was ripped away.
Addison was born three minutes after Arkin. Mostly a surprise for the O’Connell family, as they were certain a baby would fix all of their problems (but not two babies). She grew up as being always waited on second to her brother. He seemed to be the loudest of the two, so he got anything and everything first. Not completely understanding it until grade school, she tried to follow in his footsteps and be loud and demanding as well. This resulted in a spanking and to be quiet. In all of her life, she never tried it again after that. A lesson was learned very quickly and probably wasn’t the best one for her young mind. Things weren’t going to be fair for her. She tried to be jealous of her brother. She tried to want more for herself, but it turned into wanting more attention than anything else.
Addison did everything she could to make her parents want to love her. She tried cleaning the house after school, doing all of her homework, and even figuring out how to make breakfast one morning (it was burnt toast). It never seemed to work. She was never met with a loving hug or any word of praise. It didn’t matter what she would do because her parents simply didn’t care. A fact that no one else in the world seemed was out of the ordinary. As if everyone avoided their children, when she knew her friends’ parents were completely different.
It wasn’t until their third child, their third attempt at fixing a horrible marriage, that their father had left. Addison never knew if it was from getting cold feet at having another mouth to feed or another soul to crush. A harsh statement, but as she didn’t feel anything but disgust for the man. It wouldn’t have been right to try to convince herself it was anything more honorable. A father he claimed to be, she didn’t see any resemblance of the fathers of her friends. There could have been a small light of hope that if part of the problem was gone, things could’ve been better for the O’Connell family. It eventually died out, with their mom having two jobs just to stay afloat in the two-bedroom apartment. The added stress meant more nights they’d find their mom passed out, either in the bathroom or sometimes in her bed. It left Addison and Arkin to raise a baby mostly on their own.
This had more of an effect on Addison as she continued to grow in the same environment that didn’t change if she was there or not. Besides keeping Eden alive and out of harms way, there wasn’t anything else needed from her. Arkin had his own life going on, and he didn’t necessarily need her as much as she needed him. She grew relaxed in her studies, the former high scores were slowly turning into more and more red marks and concerns from teachers. She started to sneak out at night after everyone had gone to bed. She tried to fill the hole her father left with anyone she could convince of being with her. The rumors going around certainly had its own troubling affect on her, but it only served as more fuel to stop trying.
Surprisingly, she continued her life at Ocean Crest before her brother was able to help turn everyone’s life around. No, she didn’t do any better in school and would be an awful student if college was ever in the future. But, Addison figured out, finally, that things had an effect on Eden and that maybe she might need to set a better example to follow. She could say it was the spite of proving her parents wrong. To show her mother how to actually be one when she wasn’t consumed in her own grief and despair. But two very important people would say otherwise. Her brother and sister wouldn’t have let her leave without them, and she didn’t want to leave them alone in the world. Not after everything they had been through together, it was just about a tradition at this point to stick together.
The idea of college never really appealed to her, but it was a way out. It was something new and different, and maybe she’d find a better version of herself out there. Which she did eventually find. It took some time and a few new habits gained instead of continuing on bad ones, but Addison O’Connell was able to turn her life around. She decided to become a therapist with the idea of helping people who really wanted a way to be better and not knowing where to start. She doesn’t know how much Aurora Bay might need her, but she wanted to be there for someone else like her. Addison wanted to be that person she never had as a child.

MEET DENVER.
TW: mentions of injury, fire, drugs, overdose, death
Age: 30
Occupation: unemployed/former child star
Denver was born from a surprise one night entanglement between a director and a woman he met at the bar. Because of that, the two strangers eventually became close enough to at least co-parent decently for their son. It wasn’t the worst house growing up, a few arguments here and there about how Denver should be raised.
His mother, Julie, wanted her son to have a normal life and grow up with a decent job and decent friends. She tried her hardest to stay out of the spotlight and kept Denver mostly in those shadows of hers. His father, Brandon, on the other hand had different ideas the moment Denver started walking. He wanted his son in every commercial out there.
Denver growing up had a mixture of both lives their parents wanted with normal schooling throughout his education while he also did a few commercials and small parts in television shows and movies. It was nothing major until the roles after high school suddenly got more involved and more bigger than having a few lines.
He became the newest heartthrob in Hollywood.
Since then, it felt like a cake walk for Denver. He never really thought about college or anything past his time in acting because it felt like a forever job. It probably could’ve been a forever job if the accident didn’t happen. He was part of one of the more popular young adult television shows. The season finale was being filmed in a way no other show at the time had even thought of doing – thanks to their director. The house burning down was real and it nearly cost him and his co-star’s lives if he wasn’t there in time to move them both out of the area.
She was whisked away to the hospital while he had only minor injuries and could walk home. The show continued on without her and now with him in his own struggles beneath the happy face he held up at work. A new character was introduced and like before a new storyline of such a happy couple working together. Denver never really held any true feelings for his new co-host, he just blindly followed his agent. Why? Well, he had nothing else to do and nowhere to go.
As the months flew by, he fell more into his bad habits of drugs and alcohol. He claimed it was to help him sleep which was the truth, but it soon was feeling more out of control than just that. It gave him an escape from the horrors he still faced inside his head. Denver quickly found himself addicted to the feeling of being free and weightless. No longer tied down to his career or trauma, he continued his usage. He might’ve kept it up until he was shook back to his life when he was found nearly lifeless in the ditch. The thought of possibly dying in the wet and cold while he laid in the hospital bed, the kind stranger who found him in the chair next to the stretcher, had him wanting to vomit. Maybe no one saw how bad it was or maybe no one else cared to do something about it.
And so his next step was rehab. He wanted to get better by finally putting the past behind him and moving forward. It took a long six months until Denver felt as if he was back on the right track and could be out on his own. An old friend had mentioned the town Aurora Bay. A town where no one knew him would be just right up his alley.

heron lakes blurbs
GABRIEL LOPEZ
he’s one of the many cousins of the Lopez family. originally from Texas. he normally visited Heron Lakes during the summertime back in during the school years and stayed with his grandparents. now he’s moved to heron to get away from his family -- parents and wife -- simply because he thinks he isnt enough.
some key points include: was in the army, had to have his leg amputated, has a toxic relationship with his wife, still very much an adrenaline junkie, smokes at least a pack a day depending on how stressed he is (along with other things), now hes a contractor, he’s not a very open and talkative person,
possible plots: family drama of course, past summer romance/fling/exes, bad influences who keep him coming back for more, cant forget his wife, old friends worried about him,
MORGAN DAVIS
the most sought after bachelor of heron lakes who is too afraid to say yes on any sort of date that’s been brought up. he’s a native to heron lakes and is one of the few town police officers. he has two kids who are now grown and so now he’s trying to finally figure himself out since the passing of his wife. i see him being the guy who everyone calls for any sign of trouble/issue
key points: he tries to lend a helping hand as much as he can, likes to stay busy so the bad thoughts dont get too loud, always thankful and grateful for his village, sells some of his family’s personal produce at the farmers markets, tries to be a good chill cop for the most part, makes sure his wife’s grave is still beautiful and full of flowers, uh his house is pretty much an open door anyone can stop by.
possible plots: obviously his ride or die friendships, the village who helped him raise his children, will they/wont they friendship turning into something more, his parents trying to set him up on blind dates with women, the kids who are close to his own children so he sees them as his own,

CONNECTION TYPE:
Girlfriend back from the dead??? Ex-girlfriend?? I don’t know how to label this but it’s basically the love of his life back to life bc they all thought she was dead.
CHARACTER NAME:
First name must be Alexis but last name can obviously be up to player.
CHARACTER AGE:
33-35
SUGGESTED FACECLAIMS:
Up to player.
CHARACTER’S STORY:
To set the scene in high school Raleigh was pretty much considered part of the loner crowd with his two best friends who made up their own little gang of sorts and might have terrorized the town every now and then. Alexis was the head cheerleader who obviously dated the star quarterback of the football team. Raleigh always had a crush on Alexis but never really had any moment to strike with her until one night at a party they were both at. She wanted to get away from her boyfriend but he wasn’t having it and well, Raleigh punched the guy and whisked the girl of his dreams away.
They dated in high school and things were going smoothly, both head over heels in love with each other. And it still continued while she went off to a university in the city and he stayed at his community college in the town over. Though things sort of shifted, their dynamic turned into more of an open relationship as long as Alexis came home to him. They grew into being each other’s safe space/home/heart in so many words but Alexis was too big to stay down in a small town. And so Raleigh knew he’d be there in the background waiting for her to return home after she spread her wings.
And then one day she didn’t come back. It turned into weeks, months, and eventually years passed. His life turned completely upside down and he lost himself a few times before he got the idea to move to Montana. He’s finally figuring out who he truly is and it would be such a shame for a familiar face to break that all over again.
obviously its up to you on what has happened to her and why she found out where Raleigh now lives.

Daniel is a sleazy politician in a way that he pretty much lied throughout his whole campaign to get elected BUT no one knows that except his wife (and possibly daughter). He is associated with the Espinar family simply through his parents who know them more personal level than he does. Yet, that doesn’t stop the family from having their hand in political affairs in how they think the shift needs to happen. He is their hand essentially. His wife and him are in a loveless marriage and so a couple of years ago he started an affair which his daughter now just found out about. Personality wise i would say he def puts on more of a hard front than anything else but underneath that he’s a pretty funny, warm guy who does actually want to help people.
Possible plots for him include:
The woman he is having an affair with and that dynamic of keeping things in secret. Maybe she wants to take things more public and wants a real relationship not behind closed doors. He obviously doesnt want this and maybe this causes a bit of tension, a fight, maybe even a breakup because now she knows he won’t leave his wife. He won’t break everything he’s built for her. And how does she continue with that?
The journalist who knows of the affair and will go public with it if he doesn’t give them the god damn interview they have been trying to write about for the past months but he keeps saying no and canceling every meeting with them.
Members of the Espinar family and their dynamic. How I see it was in the very beginning of his campaign, he did mean everything he said. BUT the family saw this as their way in and ya know slithered their way in by him with the means of blackmail, death, destruction, you pick. So maybe he doesn’t like how he is being used but he won’t say anything about it and keep up the charade with everyone on the outside.
The wife of the loveless marriage. It was never about love and more so about power. She needed to get back into the good graces of her family and he needed a powerful name behind him just in case anything were to happen. Maybe at some point there was a hint of love between them, or it was just lust but now they’re at the very least friends with each other. Grace was just a surprise to them both.
All the friend connections – best friends, old friends, neighbors, friends turned into enemies
Romance would include ex girlfriends before his marriage and maybe even a few flings during this marriage that fizzled and never lasted beyond a few weeks or even days
Eleanor is a trauma nurse who uses her family’s name to get what she wants. Her family comes from old money and so she uses that more so to her advantage than anything else. This is how she’s able to live in a more expensive part of town and is able to fulfill her shoe and handbag addiction. She became a nurse in order to try to loosen the reins on how her parents control her life and slowly but surely is she trying to do more of her own ideas. She definitely needs more help and more people to fully break her out of that shell. She is also scared that when she fully becomes who she truly is to the world that everything she knows and loves will be stripped away from her. Personality wise, she is a cute ball of sunshine who definitely loves helping people and being there for people. Out of everyone in her family, she is more humble even with her family’s wealth status.
Possible plots for her include:
The neighbor who is completely driving her up the wall with your choosing whether that be loud music, parties almost all the time, tries and fails at cooking which causes her house to smell faintly of burnt food.
The squad of friends who drag her ass out at 10pm at night when her three shifts are over for a night out on the town, and also have weekly get togethers to go everything and anything, and basically ride or die.
The family friends who know her based on just the parties she attends with her family when her attendance is necessary.
The first girlfriend she’s ever had in college who made her try new things, discover her own self, and truly was the best thing for her and also the worst heartbreak she’s had in awhile.
The guy her parents want her to marry and they keep getting set up on dates together which just turn into yelling matches because the two are completely different on every level.
The idea that her father involved himself in the organized crime somehow and somehow these people keep bumping into her and asking her if she can help heal them from whatever current wound they have and to not ask any questions.
The person or people who help break her out of her shell and even give herself a completely new outlook on life.

Meet Rebecca.
full name: Rebecca Anne Blake
nicknames: Becca, Bex, Bee,
age: 30-33
fc: undecided (list goes like: Dakota Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Margot Robbie, Victoria Pedretti)
occupation: kindergarten teacher and part time gymnastics instructor
Back Story.
Rebecca was born to high school sweethearts Elaine and Jim, who had this point has already been blessed with their first child Benjamin.
She could only assume that since Ben was such a good kid growing up, they wanted to have another one thinking their second child was going to be so good as well.
In a sense, Rebecca was a good kid... By her own standards. Growing up, she was constantly in the shadow of her brother and constantly compared to him even if it was something simple as when she first started tying her own shoes.
As a little kid, this made her frustrated but she didn't know any better and kept continuing to follow her brother's footsteps sometimes quite literally. When he got into swimming, she went into gymnastics. When he hated a certain cereal, she didn't like it either. When his shoes got ripped, surprisingly hers did too.
It wouldn't be until late middle school - early high school, that Rebecca felt herself pulling away from her brother's traits and forming some of her own. Call it puberty.
She kept up the gymnastics, but finally found her own voice one day when her parents were going over grades. She tried all of her life to be an A student, but just couldn't quite keep it up. At most she always had at least two or three A's while the rest were all B's. Her parents kept pushing her to do better when one day she snapped at them.
Snapping at parents resulted in her first ever grounding for the whole weekend. Of course, this wouldn't be the last punishment they would give her throughout her life. No, her back talking and skipping out on chores continued to make her spend her weekends couped up in her room.
High school would only make things worse for the Blake family as Rebecca finally had her first ever boyfriend. Another kid who lived in the mines, rumors being around that their family was a disowned member from some more wealthy family back in Iron Hill. Maybe her parent's didn't approve, but she couldn't care about them. She was in love.
Surprisingly, against most of the odds, they stuck it out through high school and could have even made it through college if he wanted to go. Rebecca couldn't figure out what she wanted to do in her life, but she assumed the community college just in the next town over would get some ball rolling.
At college, she continued her gymnastics training for more so as a hobby but with that she was able to become certified in being an instructor. She eventually figured out what she wanted to do was become a teacher and started in early childhood education. Here she got her bachelor's degree.
She also got herself wrapped in a whirlwind romance that started so fast everyone knew it would eventually come crashing down. Which, it did, but we'll get to that later. She was smitten with him from the start, even brought him home during Christmas break to show him off to her parents. He was everything she dreamed her husband would be. In the two years they dated, they eloped one beautiful spring weekend after finding out she was pregnant.
Rebecca came back to Iron River alone after the baby had been born. Such a beautiful baby needed a beautiful name which was deemed as Eleanor Jane (nicknamed as Ellie). Her amazing husband told her he needed to spend some time at his own parents' house before wanting to make the commitment of being a dad.
That was five years ago and he hadn't shown up yet. Rebecca has been running out of excuses as to why Eleanor's dad isn't here. The latest one is that he's out on a boating trip for half the year.
If that wasn't enough for her to handle, her mother has progressively gotten worse with her illness. Her memory gets jumbled more now to which Rebecca and her dad have hidden the car keys and added extra locks to the doors higher up.
Rebecca at her breaking point, demands her brother come home to help with whatever he can. She can't do this all on her own and her father can only do so much before it gets to him.
