bethany needed things to do, and working at the flower shop by herself, despite it maybe not being the most threatening place, she still wanted the chance to be able to handle herself if something bad was to happen, so taking a few classes in something wouldn’t hurt.. the dark haired girl tucked some of her hair back behind her ear as she reached the door which lead to the only karate studio on the island.. pushing the door open, dark hues lifted themselves off the ground and landed on a male standing there, looking directly at her as she entered, smiling and greeting her, asking what he could do for her.. “oh uhm, i just wanted to hear if you had anything spots left for any of your beginners classes..?!
jake went slightly wide-eyed as he looked the girl over. he wasn’t quite sure what to say. he had never had a student that was really over the age 10. it was a little startling. not because he didn’t want her as a student, but only because no one besides kids were usually into learning karate out of a shady studio. he was not saying he was shady. the building just wasn’t in the best shape. he had frozen for a moment as he scrambled to look for openings in any of his classes. “ uh... i can check. ” his gaze was locked on the screen as he scrolled through his classes. “ it looks like we do. were you thinking of joining? ” he looked back up with a smile. he mentally hit himself for even needing to check.

ron--stoppables
“Hello!” replied Ron. “I’m the new kid next door! except I’m not really a kid…and I’m not next door, I’m across the street!” Ron continued to ramble on, “I don’t… live there…I work there…” He stopped and took a deep breath; there was no reason to lose his composure over talking to somebody he’d only just met. “Sorry, I’m not that good with words” he said, “what I meant to say was: hi, my name’s Ron Stoppable, I’m an assistant manager at the gyro shop across the street.” Ron gave a friendly smile and extended his hand.

jake’s smile become more genuine as he listened to the other stumble over their words. he laughed lightly as his eyebrows drew together and raised. “ i guess i wouldn’t have thought you lived there. i wouldn’t know who would want to live there. it doesn’t seem like the classiest place. don’t think it’d be too comfortable. ” he joked as his nose scrunched slightly. he felt a tug at the corners of his lips, making his smile wider. “ jake long’s my name. i own the studio you’re standing in. i teach karate to kids. ” he said taking the other’s hand and shaking it.

jake was waiting for his students by standing behind the small desk that was near the door to his studio. he had been working to pay some of the bills he owed for the business. he still wasn’t really used to running the business basically by himself. he missed having his grandfather’s help with the complicated stuff. he was pulled from his thoughts though as the bell went off signaling that someone had come in. he looked up with a smile on his face. “ hey there! how can i help you? ”

tegcn
— Tegan sighed loudly “sorry, I’m just tired of taking people shifts because they want to go out and party” she placed her pastry down on her plate gently, trying not to cause anymore ruckus than necessary. She took a sip on her hot coffee, weirdly, caffeine helped to mellow her out a lot, maybe it came with working on a coffee shop.
“ i would be too. it’s why i’m glad my only co-worker is my sister. she can’t get away with that stuff. ” he said with a small laugh. he leaned back in his seat as his hand rested on his coffee cup that was on the counter. “ so why do you keep taking their shifts if you know all they do is go party and don’t pay you back for it? ”

tegcn:
— “Do i get anything in return for covering your shift?” Tegan hissed into her phone, she didn’t usually mind picking up some extra shifts, but she’d been working so much she was starting to feel like she was drowning on this damn island. “Fine!” she said and hung up the phone, almost slamming it down on the table of the bistro, taking an aggressive bite of her pastry.
“ That didn’t sound like a fun conversation. ” Jake joked with a smirk on his face. He couldn’t help but overhear the other’s conversation since they had been talking rather loud. Plus he was a bit of a nosy person. He took a drink from his coffee. He turned in his seat slightly to be facing more towards the girl he was now speaking to.
