Potential Running Backs in Giants' Draft
After the loss of star studded, yet injury prone, Saquon Barkley, the Giants managed to pick up a sufficient filler RB in Devin Singletary. However, there are still plenty of options of the Giants to choose form, if they wish to pick a younger RB in the draft who can still develop into a long-time starter.
Two popular names that could be selected on Day 2 of the NFL Draft include Trey Benson from Florida State, and Jaylen Wright from Tennessee.
Lets start with Benson. He's been scouted and referred to as a good comparison to Lamar Miller back in 2012 with Miami. He's an agility machine recording multiple runs of over 20 or 21 mph, as he also scored the first ever 80 yard catch and run touchdown in FSU history. His vertical and horizontal speed are both explosive, combine that with his very solid frame and strength, Benson is a very promising back within a Zone or Power Run Scheme like the Giants.
Now onto Wright. He's just as fast and maybe even more shifty than Benson, however he possesses a much smaller frame and build type. He focuses more on speed and less on the aggressive downhill contact. He still averaged over 7 yards per carry in College; to put that into perspective, a very good YPC average in the NFL is anywhere above 3.5. Wright also has a better knack for pass protecting than Benson, which would come in handy with our below average Offensive Line, attacking defensive targets and looking for engagement in the backfield.
Both of these guys would be very solid pickups on Day 2, and I believe either of them would blend in perfectly with Daboll and the rest of the offense.

Could J.J. McCarthy Be a Giant?
If you have been following any rumors or hype around the upcoming NFL Draft, you have 100% heard of QB Prospect J.J. McCarthy. McCarthy is coming off of an incredible run at Michigan, leading them to a National Title and multiple wins over famed rival Ohio State. The downside that everyone believed was true just months ago was his ability to throw.
If you've never heard of Jim Harbaugh (Michigan HC and now Chargers HC) or the overall Michigan offensive scheme, it mainly surrounds running the ball and wearing down a defense physically. Now, McCarthy filled that scheme very well as his legs can take him just as far as his arm, however NFL teams were veyr worried tha this arm talent wouldn't be enough.
After his amazing Pro Day and Pre-Draft hype, teams are starting to recosnider their evaluations on his arm, and believe his reservations in throwing were more Harbaugh's scheme, and not his talent. The Patriots and Giants are both front runners for McCarthy's landing spot, at 3rd and 6th overall respectively. Sources say McCarthy will most likley not make it out of the top 6 with at least those two teams considering him as their future starting QB.

Filling in Gaps With Matthew Adams
Veteran linebacker Matthew Adams was recently signed to the roster on one-year-deal from Free Agency. Adams is 28 and has spent his career with the Colts, Bears, and Browns. Although Adams will most likely be a rotational or special teams player this season, the Giants current linebacker Bobby Okereke spent three seasons with Adams and knows him well.
Brina Daboll and Joe Schoen are building a veyr well connected team, with players from Daboll and Schoens past team, as well as players that have played together before. This is an extremely important tactic that many overlook. With a young core on the offensive side, and a team that seems less than likely to make a payoff run, building chemistry and a good locker room prescence seem to be the goal for this year.
Daboll and Schoen have been making good moves so far, and their good offseason will come to a close after the NFL Draft. If they can keep up their good work throughout the draft, this will be a solid foundation for the Giants to return to true playoff contenders.

The Giants Beef Up Their Defensive Line
After the loss of Leonard Williams last season to the Seahawks, the Giants defensive line was still good but missing that Veteran "big man" status. Just recently, veteran free agent defensive tackle Jordan Phillips was signed.
Phillips has spent multiple years with teams like the Bills, Dolphins, and Cardinals since 2015, and is now rounding out his career with the Giants. He's never started more than 11 games in a season, but has the potential to put up around 8-9 sacks, as seen in 2019 on the Bills.
Phillips is another player that Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen have worked with, and will definitely add more to the locker room chemistry, as well as being a rotational guy on the defensive line. Now the Giants can focus on there 4 main positions in the draft: Wide Receiver, Defensive Back, Offensive Line, and Quarterback.

Could the Giants Draft Rattler in the Later Rounds?
It has been a regular trend to draft numerous quarterbacks in the early stages, with several being selected in the first round. However, we've also seen players like Brock Purdy and Tom Brady, who were taken in the final two rounds, burst in the starting lineup. Could this be another year in which a late-round quarterback rises to stardom?
Spencer Rattler is a well-known figure in college football. He began at Oklahoma in his first years, but lost his spot to the currently projected first-overall pick Caleb Williams. After losing his starting job, he transferred to South Carolina and started for two years before entering the draft.
Rattler put up a solid performance while playing in the toughest football conferences, with a subpar team compared to rival powerhouses Alabama, Georgia, Clemson,Tennessee, Ole Miss, and others, earning him a chance to be drafted in the latter rounds.
A team like the Giants are very likely to use a pick to improve the competition in their quarterback room and identify any hidden potential. Rattler will not start right away, but he may step in effectively if many starting quarterbacks are injured or underperforming this season.

NFL Analyst has Giants Taking Drake Maye?!
Drake Maye is among the top five quarterbacks in this year's draft class, and Lance Zierlein, an NFL draft analyst, believes the Giants would trade up to obtain such a prospect.
Although I believe a trade up is less likely than a trade down, this could be a beneficial move for them. Drake Maye isn't a top two quarterback in this draft and could be argued for any of the third, fourth, or fifth picks. He has a solid and stocky physique, standing 6'4", but has been noted as inconsistent in his career at the University of North Carolina.
The similarities between Maye and Josh Allen, with whom Daboll and Schoen have both trained and worked, are a plus in picking him. If anyone could help Maye reach his full potential, I'd trust those two individuals.
Even if this trade up isn't the most "future responsible" because the Giants would lose draft capital, I enjoy the notion of putting Maye in an immediate battle with Daniel Jones and others in the quarterback room to prove he can be a consistent starter who uses his strength well.

The Giants Look Ahead to More NFL Prospects
Just this week, it was disclosed that the Giants are considering a pair of top prospects for their first-round choice. Names include JJ McCarthy, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, Michael Penix Jr., and Malik Nabers. JJ, Jayden, Drake, and Michael are all among the top five expected quarterbacks in the selection, and they appear to be the main priorities in these pre-NFL selection meetings and scouting sessions. Malik Nabers makes the list because the Giants also visited with him during their trip to LSU to recruit Jayden Daniels.
Let's speak about the prospects for drafting a quarterback. The current room consists of Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and Tommy DeVito. When you look at these three names, all you can think about is "what could've been". Jones was a high draft pick with talent, but he rapidly became the league's laughing stock. Drew Lock has had a few more flashes with fewer opportunities, but his stats remain below average. Tommy DeVito gave the Giants optimism last season when he went on a hot streak, but I believe everyone now recognizes that this will not be a consistent trend, which is why he is expected to be the third quarterback behind Jones and Lock.
We know Marvin Harrison Jr. will go before the Giants pick, but Malik Nabers is the next best possibility, and he is definitely still very excellent. If the Giants decide to go the WR route, this is their only alternative. Nabers had a tremendous season at LSU, collecting passes from Heisman winner Jayden Daniels. When it comes to wide receivers in the Giants' draft, he is the ideal candidate. Now that Brian Daboll has said that he concentrates more on analyzing quarterbacks than other positions, I believe the decision between a quarterback and a wide receiver will come down to what the clubs ahead of the Giants do, with certain prospects expected to fall and others to rise.

Could Tee Higgins be a New York Giant?
As much as I want Tee Higgins, Cinccinnati Bengals Wide Receiver, on the G-Men, the practicalities are a little complicated. Before we get into that, let's take a look at Higgins' previous year data.
Sitting second behind a terrific Jamarr Chase and receiving passes from a top-tier quarterback in Joe Burrow, Higgins has averaged around 1000 yards and six touchdowns on approximately 70 receptions over the last three years. He has been an excellent player for the Bengals, but he recently demanded a trade away from the organization. The Giants are in desperate need of a real #1 wide receiver and may be on the market.
Getting into logistics, FanSided suggests that the Giants send a 2024 2nd round selection, a 2025 1st round pick, a 2026 6th round pick, and Darius Slayton in exchange for Tee Higgins and a 2024 7th round pick. With the Giants eating so much cap space due to Daniel Jones' contract, this move would bring them within $300,000 of breaking even. The money works out, at least for this year, and gives the Giants their WR1.
As much as I would like for this to happen, I believe Joe Schoen will oppose the trade. We can choose a wide receiver in the second round or perhaps in the first round, kicking off our rebuild and saving money. It's unclear whether or not this transaction will come to fruition, but we might as well look into it for now.

Tre'Davious White Meets With Giants
The former All-Pro Cornerback for the Buffalo Bills was released into Free Agency recently, and is now set to meet with the Giants later this week. With Adoree Jackson coming close to Free Agency, the Giants need to replace the opposite side corner from Deonte Banks.
White is the perfect match for this team. During his tenure on the Bills, he worked closely with both Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll, who are both now the heads of our Giants organization.
The only downside I can see is the injury scare from last season. White played only 4 games during the season after suffering a torn Achilles, and while he has since recovered, the combination of his age, position, and injuries, will need to be reviewed consistently in order to get maximum value out of him.

Daniel Jones + Giants = Playoff Contenders
With the recent announcement of Daniel Jones remaining the starter heading into Preseason and the 2024 season, let's dive into where he can truly lead this new and improved team.
Lucky for Jones, the offensive line is getting slight upgrades, with one of their draft picks being predicted to help as well. The loss of Barkley will definitely hinder the overall offensive attack, but we could also see Jones revert back to his playing style from 2 years ago. Singletary is a great back to utilize as a short game merchant, with lots of other underrated and young receivers to potentially breakout.
The most key factor to Jones generating success on the field is the defensive menace that the Giants have created over the past few years. With names like Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Deonte Banks, Isaiah Simmons, and others, the defense will outperform the offense 9 times out of 10.
If Jones can find a way to ride the momentum of his star studded defense, I believe he could lead the team to a very solid season and a potential playoff run as underdogs.

Who Should the NY Giants Draft in 2024?
In having the 6th overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, the NY Giants are in a very weird position. Obviously their pick fully depends on how the first 5 choose, however, there are some key factors they need to consider.
After signing Drew Lock (former Seahawks and Broncos QB), and assumingly keeping Daniel Jones, there is potential for a 3-way QB battle heading into and through the season
A big name that could fall to number 6 is Jayden Daniels, a very good QB from LSU
Another option would be to take a WR in this spot, this is a spot the Giants have struggled in for some time since the Manning era, and have yet to figure out
Some names that could fall to 6 include Malik Nabers, LSU WR, as well as Rome Odunze, Washington WR
With the multiple Offensive Line acquisitions and upgrades to the defense, there is a small chance the Giants take anything outside of a top QB or WR. They are also in place to trade down for a better value pick depending on how the first 5 pick, leading to more picks and potentially a WR or DB being picked later in the 1st round.
