truly do not understand workplace drama. we're stuck here doing stupid bullshit for 8 hours and you want to make it worse? But on the other hand I love hearing about arguments that are not and never will be my problem

📝ENG Translation: Joker Out: "We love the Macedonians, Macedonian food and the concerts - we simply have to keep coming back!"
Tumblr media
Original article written by Aleksandra Todorovikj for TRN.MK. English translation by IG marijakonte, proofread by IG Gboleyn123.
Article below the cut! 👇
The Slovenian band Joker Out, famous for their energy, sincerity and "shagadelic" style, are coming back to Skopje! On the 29th of June, they will perform at the ARM Stadium, as part of the Skopje Calling festival, and we had an exclusive opportunity to chat with them before the show. What are their thoughts about the Macedonian audience, their growth after Eurovision and which is their favourite Balkan band? - find out below:
This is your fourth time in Skopje - what brings you back and what do you like the most about the Macedonian audience?
Joker Out: Actually, this is our fourth time in Macedonia! It's our third time in Skopje, but we have performed in Dojran, as well. Macedonia is a wonderful country with incredible landscapes (at least from what we have seen while driving through it) and with the warmest people who always welcome us with open arms. That's why we are always looking forward to coming back.
Do you have any favourite places, dishes or moments from your last visit that made you want to return?
Joker Out: Absolutely! We love Macedonian cuisine! We don't know the name of the dish, but last time we were in awe of some fried peppers stuffed with cheese. Your food has such exotic and spicy flavours, that we just can't forget it. And our best memories are tied to the concerts and restaurants.
How did Eurovision shape you as artists and as a band?
Joker Out: Eurovision is an intense and demanding experience, so we got even closer as a band, with everything that came after it. We learned to rely on each other and help each other out in difficult times. As artists, we wanted to keep moving forward and progress to a new level.
How has your sound changed since the beginning? Are you moving towards a more international direction?
Joker Out: Our albums depict that growth - the first album was only in Slovenian, the second one has Serbian too, and the third one has English songs, as well. However, we have always drawn inspiration from big international artists, while also keeping our authentic Slovenian expression. Instead of moving towards an international sound, we're bringing the Slovenian sound to the worldwide scene.
What does the process of making music look like - is it collaborative or does a member take the lead?
Joker Out: It is becoming more and more of a collaborative process. With each new album, we have more songs that have been created out of jam sessions. Sometimes, naturally, someone comes up with an idea, but the music part is teamwork - one day one of us leads, and the next day it's someone else.
Your songs sound both nostalgic and fresh. Which are your biggest musical influences?
Joker Out: We started off as fans of Slovenian bands, such as Siddharta, Big Foot Mama and Dan D. Then, we discovered The Beatles, Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, and for our latest album, we were really inspired by Yugoslav bands like Bijelo Dugme and Plavi Orkestar.
You sing in both Slovenian and English - how do you decide which language fits a particular song?
Joker Out: The song tells us. Every language is like a different instrument - sometimes you want to "play" with one, sometimes with the other. It depends on the inspiration in that moment.
You have been on tour together for a long time - how do you maintain the chemistry within the band? Do you have any rituals or inside jokes?
Joker Out: We've got a lot of inside jokes (but we can't reveal them 😊). We've got a short pre-concert ritual to sync up. But, what is most important is to respect each other, not take everything too seriously, and to keep in mind that everything we do is for something bigger than ourselves.
How would someone from the outside describe Joker Out in three words?
Joker Out: Loud, Pure, Shagadelic.
What is next for Joker Out after the tour - new music, festivals, collaborations?
Joker Out: We've just announced The Karneval, to celebrate our 10-year anniversary, which is going to take place on the 20th of June, 2026 in Ljubljana - our biggest show yet! We are also working on new music, which will come out in the second half of this year, so - no summer break for us!
If you could collaborate with any Balkan artist right now, who would it be?
Joker Out: Buč Kesidi!
And finally - what message would you send to your Macedonian fans before the concert?
Joker Out: Warm up your hips and vocal chords! We are bringing a fresh Slovenian summer breeze that will sweep you off your feet!
Don't miss out on Joker Out live at Skopje Calling - the 29th of June, ARM Stadium. Expect a night filled with love, energy and "shagadelic" rhythm!

We caught up with Joker Out as their Karneval tickets went on sale and discussed the significance of the Kardeljeva platform, the Karneval planning process, the cartoon series they're releasing, as well as their upcoming festival dates and European tour this autumn.
We want to thank Joker Out and their team again for inviting us, it was truly a pleasure to collaborate in this way!
