if you’re offline or away and i message you something (like a link to a meme or a picture or w/e) honestly just assume that i’m just leaving it there for when you get back and not expecting you to answer straight away. i don’t need you to respond with “hey, sorry, i wasn’t at the computer!” or anything. i was leaving u a gift for later.
today I learned that in 2008, the city council of florence overturned dante’s sentence of execution if he returned from exile. yes, dante’s inferno dante, who died in 1321.
but the funniest part of this is not that they were debating the exile of a man who has been dead for over 500 years.
the funniest part is that the vote was 19-5. five people voted to uphold dante’s exile.
Justice for "spremenu sem pogled na svet, ti pa barvo las"
Watching JO Subs latest video and Martin saying that his favourite line in any Joker Out song was "spremenu sem pogled na svet, ti pa barvo las" made me sit down to write something that I've been wanting to write for a while. It's about exactly what Martin was saying: how great of a line "spremenu sem pogled na svet, ti pa barvo las" is. I've seen the lyrics of Ngvot being made fun of, particularly that line, in fact. Compared to, say, Plastika or Everybody's Waiting or Novi val, people have laughed at what a basic line it is (with love of course). It's like Kris is stating that time passed in the most bland way possible, but it's SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT.
It is a very simple thing to say, yes, that the I (Kris) of the narrative changed his view of the world and the you in the song changed her hair colour, but there is actually so much depth to that statement. Time has passed, and those two people have changed. They've grown apart since they last met, and that's what frustrates the I so much. That's evident in the whole song, but especially in this one line, "spremenu sem pogled na svet, ti pa barvo las."
Kris is saying that he matured and now sees the world in a new light, whereas the girl has only changed superficially, she has only changed her appearance. There's now this huge abyss between them that he feels like they can't overcome.
I wish I could say more intelligent things about this one line that I love so dearly, but I can't at this moment. I just hope more people will see it for what it is -- great lyricism.
