I'm drilling this home because apparently some kids today just never paid attention in high school history classes:

The majority of the people who were accused of witchcraft during the European and American witch hunts were innocent people who had never hurt anybody and committed no crimes.

Some of them were trusted and beloved members of their communities even, who helped people as midwives, wise women, apothecaries, healers, cunning folks, etc.

Many were targeted because they were easy to "other", and many were easy to point fingers at because they were marginalized, or simply, vulnerable.

Those people, innocent people, good people, they were not witches. It was never about going after witches.
