Yesterday was that weird weather when the sky is dark and the wind picks and it smells damp cuz it just rained. Wasn't sure if it would rain again, and the crows were being unusually noisy.

I snapped this pic when Nyx was listening and froze.

Opened a new box of hay and mixed it with the old as I usually do. Shion always throws a fit and doesn't eat much when I do this. I was standing there hand feeding him single stalks of hay and Shion sat stock still. I know that look! It's the dead eye stare of a pooping bun.

I lifted him up and there was a pile of big poops under him! OK, fine - he was eating the hay after all. I'm not refilling it until you eat it all though, bub. Even if you stick your nosicle out reeeeal far like this.

Oh yeah, Nyx was the same when I brought a rescued baby home! I didn't realize how territorial female rabbits were and was able to scoop the baby up just in time before Nyx bit her.

This adult female rabbit drew blood on my thigh. Imagine what that could have done to a baby bunny. I have never let Nyx be around another female ever again. She barely tolerates Shion, and they've lived in the same house for years.

I'm sorry you have to deal with your sister being irresponsible though, OP. I hope that everything goes smoothly and nobun gets injured!

for context, my sister who has a horrible track record with animals just got another bunny. her name is midnight and she's aggressive as all hell

i promised to help with socializing midnight with my two bunnies. only midnight keeps trying to fight everyone and columbo has deemed this a problem with only one solution. so shes just been hiding out by my sisters room where she knows midnight is and is just waiting for the opportunity to finish the job.

The buns are in their twilight years, so much of their time is spent doing the thing that I'm best at in the world: sleeping! Unless it's Shion trying to sleep in view of Nyx, in which case, she spends her time doing Violence.

I put Shion in the pen and hell hath no fury like Nyx observing another creature experiencing joy where she can see it. He ran laps and then promptly fell asleep in the box while Nyx chewed on her crate bars in rage. Babygirl that is literally the exact same thing you do in the pen. Let the old man have a turn!

A few days ago, Nyx loafed next to me!! This is HUGE cuz normally she doesn't want to be perceived. I had to try to be chill about it and it was harrrrd 😭

Griefposting

It's real bad today, folks. I'll put it under a cut.

My grief screams, "YOU KILLED CHEWIE" and I have to spend a few hours a day sitting with that and deconstructing it. He was a meat rabbit and already had chronic issues. I had to massage his belly for years before I realized that it was a buildup of gas and that some simethicone (infant gas drops) would help.

He lived a blissful life for 9 years with me. He got a bondmate and a human who loved him. As he got older, those chronic issues began to worsen. He did his best to fight but he was old. You can't get hung up on the "what ifs". Maybe he would've survived an hour in the car to an emergency clinic if I could've found a way to get there. (I don't drive) Or maybe he would've died on the way there.

You can't know the future and you can't change the past. I just need to remember that Chewie was loved.

Shion got a haircut

Yesterday we were outside and his mane was literally poking him in the eye.

Every day I have to extract so much floof that gets stuck to his eye crusties. And now he's sooo ugly. I can't stop laughing every time I see him. He was so mad at me XD

Today was mostly thunderstorms, so we stayed inside. Shion mostly sat on his stool and rejected greens given
