Movie Lessons: Sleeping Beauty (2011) Why does Lucy cry in pain after seeing the old man beside her?
Throughout the film, Lucy, the main character, leads a rather indifferent and apathetic life. She takes on various part-time jobs, including working as a waitress in an elite private club. However, her true role in the club is being drugged and used by wealthy clients while she sleeps. Lucy becomes intrigued by what happens to her during these encounters, prompting her to set up a hidden camera to capture the events.
At the end of the movie, Lucy wakes up to find a lifeless body of an old man beside her in bed. This discovery shocks her, and she screams in response. The ending is significant because it represents a turning point for Lucy. Previously, she was indifferent to everything happening to her, but her curiosity about her own experiences awakened a newfound interest. However, when she reviews the footage from the hidden camera, she realizes that she has not learned anything new. The footage only shows herself sleeping next to the old man's corpse.
The film's meaning lies in its portrayal of Lucy as the "sleeping beauty." Her life is depicted as a roulette wheel, where she appears to be playing with or dreaming through her existence. The director intended to explore the indifference of the younger generation through Lucy's character. Despite the bizarre and exploitative nature of her job, Lucy finds a sense of authenticity and freedom within it. However, the film suggests that she is ultimately just another object for the wealthy old clients, and her purpose in their world has been fulfilled.
In summary, Lucy's scream at the end of the movie signifies her shock and realization upon waking up next to a dead body. It represents a moment of awakening and the recognition that her curiosity led to no meaningful revelations or changes in her life. The film delves into themes of indifference, identity, and the superficial nature of certain lifestyles.

How to stop comparing yourself
Comparison kills self-esteem, Personality, happiness, and confidence. It wastes your potential and precious time. If you want 2023 to be your year of growth, you've got to stop comparing yourself to others and start fully focusing on yourself; let me show you how!! <3
Appreciate what you have, where you are in life and what you've accomplished. Focus on your own path and growth and acknowledge how far you've already come. <3
Growth isn't linear, be patient and enjoy the journey!
Aim to become a more appreciative person, remind yourself daily of the beautiful elements of your life and learn to appreciate the smaller things.
Other people's achievements don't undermine yours.
Be mindful of the content you consume online. Unfollow people who make you feel bad about yourself; instead, find people who uplift and motivate you to grow.
Start competing against yourself instead of others, and aspire to improve daily.
Remember that the content you see online is not the complete picture of someone's life. Content creators are perfectionists; we retake pictures, romanticise everything and create a perfect elusion!!
Turn comparison/jealousy into inspiration!! Learn from the people who have what you desire.
Stop depending your worth on other people's validation!!
Everyone has a unique path, starting point, and background. There really is no point in comparing oneself since we are all so different. <3
As always, Please feel free to add more suggestions in the comments!

“Everything is hard in some way. It’s hard to be in the wrong relationship. It’s hard to be in the right one. It’s hard to be broke and miserable, it’s hard to achieve your dreams. It’s hard to be stuck in the middle, not really feeling anything at all. Everything is hard, but you choose your hard. You choose what’s worth it. You don’t choose whether or not you’ll suffer, but you do choose what you want to suffer for.”

A short list of things I think everyone should try or do at least once in their life that will make you feel more alive. Not all of these are applicable to every person, but it’s a summary:
Take a dance class of any style with a semi-serious instructor for at least 4 classes worth
Write a work of fiction, of *any* length and *any* quality
Learn a least a bit of a language that isn’t your native one. You don’t need to become anywhere near fluent, but try and get a bit beyond yes, no, and where’s the bathroom. If you’re from a country where most people are bilingual already, that doesn’t count! Get bits of a language with which you are truly unfamiliar.
In the same vein, make peace with subtitles and start consuming music, TV and movies from cultures that aren’t your own. If your country imports large amounts of media from a specific other culture or cultures (American movies in foreign markets, for example) that also doesn’t count! Get some feelers out to begin to take in content from a culture that you don’t already have a lot of knowledge of.
Try at least one less common/less “exercisey” and more fun type of physical exercise such as roller blading or roller or ice skating, gymnastics, trampoline, rock climbing, aerial silks, pole dancing, surfing, etc
Learn a hobby or craft that produces a physical finished product and produce a single, complete object - regardless of quality - that you can hold in your hands and say that you made.
Look up a how it’s made video or YouTube video on how an item that’s interesting or relevant to you is made
Give one type of thing - media, hobby, sport, whatever - that you’ve never been interested in or never tried because of some preconceived perception an honest shot and see if your perception was correct. Sometimes it won’t be, sometimes it will be, but it’s valuable to know.
Rearrange the furniture in a room in your home
It’s about NOVELTY, babey! Get some enrichment into your enclosure!

Why You Should Always Use Your Best Now Instead of Saving it for Later

🌹 Because you deserve to feel your best every day, not just on occasions.
🌹 Because "later" rarely comes.
🌹 Because you're just wasting your own money if you buy some high-quality makeup or skincare products just for them to expire barely used because you wanted to save them for an occasion.
🌹 Because life is unpredictable. What if a guest drops by unexpectedly and you're eating from a chipped plate or a tupperware container? What if you see your ex, or your crush, or meet the love of your life, or see your boss, or see someone who was mean to you in school, and you're wearing a worn-out hoodie and sweatpants with a hole? Many of us would feel self-conscious if something like that happened, but it can be avoided if you wear nice clothes and use your good china instead of keeping it hidden away for some possible future special event.
🌹 Because what's the point in having beautiful floral china, just for it to gather dust while you eat off of chipped plates and mismatched mugs? What's the point in owning silk blouses and cashmere jumpers, just for them to stay in your closet for months or years while you wear ratty t-shirts and sweatpants? What's the point in buying high quality makeup, just for it to spoil while you wear cheap stuff that's hard to put on and makes your face look cakey? Why own beautiful belongings just for them to never see the light of day?
🌹 Because using your best every day will show that you genuinely live well, instead of coming across as a phony when you meet the Joneses.
🌹 Because it's sad, after someone passes away, to see their fancy china, beautiful clothes, and other treasures in storage, rarely or never used, always waiting for an occasion that never came. If you won't use your best, who will? Life is short.
🌹 Because using your best everyday doesn't have to mean that special occasions will feel less special. Instead of only bringing out the good dinnerware for guests, use it everyday, but make occasions feel different with a spectacular floral arrangement, or with classical music on in the background instead of the TV. Wear your good foundation and mascara everyday, but wear a bolder makeup look for an event.
🌹 Because people's tastes change throughout the years. What if you buy something, keep it for later, and by the time later comes, you don't like it at all anymore?
🌹 Because special occasions still feel special even when you don’t use your best for them.
🌹 Because using beautiful items instead of settling for mediocrity elevates a normal day from feeling mundane to feeling decadent and luxurious.
Wear your good makeup. Wear your chic clothes. Put on your good skincare products. Doodle in your pretty notebooks. Burn your fancy candles. Spray your expensive perfume. Drink the expensive gifted wine. Eat the gourmet chocolates. Live in the now, not the uncertain future. Honour yourself by allowing yourself to use these special treasures.
