Balsam, or Bal (what I nickname him lol) is an absolute sucker for soft and smaller forms of attention, appreciation and praise, but he won't tell you that willingly.

He thoroughly enjoys cuddling with his s/o's once they've developed their relationship, often playing with hair, or giving a soft kiss on their head or hand. He'll pet/rub your head as well, since he likes the physical touch, though he may be a little hesitant with his own because of his injury--not out of insecurity, but because he doesn't want you to hurt yourself.

Give him some chin scratches instead, he loves that~

He prefers the peace and quiet when it's cuddle time, but he doesn't mind whispering about a topic that interests you or him if he isn't falling asleep first.

However, if he's busy and really trying his best to pay attention to something (knowing how bad he can get with distractions) he may not cave to a cuddle session, but you're more than welcome to sit beside him and he'll hold your hand from time to time. It helps him stay grounded to reality if he starts thinking too hard.
