Don’t text that toxic person. Don’t check their social media. Don’t take it to heart when your friends bring them up. Don’t bring them up - talking about them only reinforces their presence in your life. Don’t let it bother you when you see them in passing.
What’s done is done. Let it go. You have people who care about you. You will find love again. You will have good days and bad days, but remember to appreciate the happy moments and not dwell on the bad. You will be okay. You are capable. You are strong. You are enough. The other day I had to explain to someone what dissociation is and I had this moment of total disorientation like… the majority of my fellow human beings have no idea what dissociation, hypervigilance, blunted emotions etc are because they’ve never had a reason to learn. There are people living their lives without all of this bullshit I deal with on a daily basis and I cannot fathom what that must be like, to have that kind of freedom, to have the luxury of not knowing all the ways the human brain can falter when faced with trauma.
