It was one of those days that Barry decided to travel. He was handling some animal and produce business in the city and he was finished earlier than he thought. Since he did have a little time before heading back he figured that a bite to eat wouldn’t be such a bad thing.

The nearest place to eat was a nice little cafe. Once he finished up and was ready to go back to business, he stepped outside and to his dismay, it began pouring outside. It had been cloudy all day, so this wasn’t supposed to be of any surprise. However, he didn’t like rain too much, especially coming from a place called Sunshine Islands.

“Aw, shucks,” he muttered, looking up at the sky. Barry didn’t anticipate staying this long, so bringing an umbrella was not on his list of priorities. He wondered if he could wait it out. He was expecting a little drizzle, something he could at least get by in, but if he went now, there was no doubt he would get sick. There was still business to be completed and he didn’t like making others wait so staying here wasn’t the best choice, business wise, either.

While debating on what to do, he heard an unfamiliar voice address him. At least he was assuming it was to him. “Huh?” He turned to face a petite woman offering her umbrella. Well, what luck was that! He chuckled a little and grinned. “Why thank you kindly, darlin’!” He crouched a little to get under it. Seeing as he was significantly taller than her, he reached for the handle, his hand over hers slightly. “Do you want me to hold it?”

When Lillie had first offered it to the man, she hadn’t expected him to be as strikingly handsome as he turned out to be. When he turns to her fully and gives her a clear view of his face, the weather girl can’t help but blush a bit, suddenly feeling her nerves heighten.

She wasn’t good around men, especially super charming ones like this guy. He even had an adorable accent, too! Talk about your double whammies.

“O-oh, uh---” Her words die in her throat when he inches closer to her, and she just about feels her heart trying to leap out of its chest when he places his hand over hers. Physical contact! “S-sure! That... that would make things easier, since you’re taller and all...”

Closer Than You Think || Lillie & Agate

Raeger’s restaurant was abuzz with activity that evening, people coming and going as they came in for a nice dinner after what were undoubtedly long work days. Lillie had been one such person, having rushed there to catch a meal for herself before closing time. She had been much too tired from her commute back from the city to go home and cook anything herself, and plus, she just happened to be in the mood for one of this restaurant’s delicious meals.

But as she waited for her order to be brought out to her, she finds herself fiddling with her phone, giggling to herself as someone in the chatroom -- an expert with animals, going by the cleverly cute name of Chaihuahua -- says something funny. 

Little did she know, the very person behind the handle was sitting only a few tables away from her.

Reminiscence || Lillie & Ella

It had been far too long.

Despite being thick as thieves back in their childhood, Lillie had fallen out of contact with her cousin in the years afterward, the deaths of their mothers causing a shift not only in their relationship, but in the respective paths they led in life. 

Ella had been whisked off by her father, with any attempts to contact her being immediately shut down by him. And Lillie... well, she managed. Was depressed for a while, but eventually picked herself up for the sake of her sister and father, doing what she could to act as the heart for a fractured family that had gotten their heart --- their center --- so cruelly stolen away from them.

And so, losses and all, life went on. Lillie went on with her life with minimal contact with Ella, though there was never a day where she didn’t worry or think about how her cousin was doing. So when she gets an invitation to visit Ella and her grandmother down in Flowerbud, the weather girl practically drops everything to take them up on the offer. 

After requesting a few off days at work, and making sure everything at the inn would be in order for her absence, Lillie had set off and reached the town in a matter of days, eventually making it to the doorstep of Ella’s ranch once she was all settled in.

Even though she had been excited for the moment she could see her cousin again, Lillie felt apprehensive. What if Ella didn’t care about her anymore? What if she thought Lillie hadn’t cared? What if they’ve been apart so long, changed too much, that they were just... too incompatible to connect again?

As these doubts begin to run through her mind, Lillie starts to second guess herself, her closed fist hovering over the door. Before she can make a decision on whether to knock or not, the choice is taken out of her hands when the door suddenly opens, revealing a brunette woman that Lillie both did and didn’t recognize.

Ella.

“Oh! Uh...” Letting her hand fall back to her side, she offers a meek smile. “Hi.”

Song Bird || Lillie & Sonia

It wasn’t often that Lillie traveled out of Razalune, but she would occasionally do so for her job, usually accompanying other reporters who would be working on stories and features on the going ons in other parts of Astoria. That’s why she was here on Fenith Island now, as part of a team covering a tropical storm that had hit the area recently.

Thankfully, the island hadn’t taken too much damage aside from some minor wear and tear on the buildings, but Lillie and her team had decided to stay back for a few extra days to assist in the cleanup.

Since the proprietors of the Three Sisters Inn had shown her such amazing hospitality during her stay there --- and out of a sense of Inn Girl Solidarity™ --- Lillie had volunteered to sweep the floors while the other women were out running their errands, cleaning and housekeeping coming so naturally to her that she doesn’t at all mind the work.

And so she does just that, sweeping around the main entrance of the inn as she hums a little tune to herself, unaware of the pink haired girl approaching.

Raindrop || Open

Ah. It was a good thing she remembered her umbrella today.

Though Lillie would be surprised if she had left it, since she had been perfectly aware of what today’s forecast would be. Cloudy, with a chance for rain. Cooling down the scorching summer heat for a bit, but making the air incredibly humid in return. So be careful out on the roads, and watch out for shortness of breath and frizzy hair!

Her earlier forecast repeats itself in her mind as she watches the rainy street from under her favorite cafe’s awning, wondering if she should wait for the weather to calm down a bit before heading back to Oak Tree. As she ponders this, she begins to open her umbrella, glancing out of the corner of her eye when someone else walks out of the cafe.

But unlike her, they didn’t seem to have an umbrella... or any sort of protection from the rain. This brings a small frown to her face, and Lillie looks back towards the street in a moment of hesitation, before turning back to the person.

“Um... would you like to use my umbrella?” Er, wait. That wasn’t right. Darn it. She messed up, which made her anxious, and what did anxiety do to her? Make her ramble. “Um! Use it... with me, I mean? I dunno if we’re both going the same way, but even if we aren’t, I can walk with you until you get where you need to go!”

Prayers || Lillie & Alisa

Even though she lived in Oak Tree, Lillie sometimes found herself traveling to the town of Bluebell. It was a far shorter trip than the one she made to the city for work everyday, and she had friends here. Well, one friend, anyway. Someone kind and gentle, who had lived with her and her family for a time.

It wasn’t often they got to see each other, what with her busy schedule, but whenever she could take the time out to pay Kamil a visit, she did. 

But on her way into the town, she finds her eyes drawn to the church. There weren’t really any places of worship down in Oak Tree, and so she wasn’t all that used to seeing them. Sure, there were some in the city, but Lillie’s never really had much of a reason -- or any time, for that matter -- to go inside and check them out.

Maybe she could now... just for a little bit? She was kind of curious to see if they were as grand and beautiful as they seemed on TV.

Deciding to take a minor detour, the weather girl heads towards the church, gently pushing the doors open and stepping inside. As quiet as she tried to be (what if there was a procession going on?), the doors still opened with a creak, one that echoed loudly throughout the large, empty hall. 

When the woman standing at the head of the church turns to look at Lillie, the brunette feels a sudden pang of anxiety and guilt. Oops. She hadn’t disturbed her, had she?

“Um...” She starts nervously, raising her hand in a timid wave. “Hi.”

By necessity, Lillie was an early riser. Her day started much earlier than most of the other villagers, since she usually had to commute to the city for her job. And even on days when she didn’t have to work, she still needed to be up early to cook breakfast for the guests at the inn.

But she didn’t have to do either of those today--- it was her off day at the station, and her dad had actually gotten up early enough to cover cooking duty, claiming that he wanted to help lighten her load a bit. Not that Lillie herself thought of her work as a load... sure, she was a pretty busy gal, but she loved what she did, so she had no issues with it. As long as she could help people and make them happy, she was satisfied.

Her lack of work hadn’t stopped her biological clock though, so the weather girl still found herself up and about in the early hours of the morning. Since she was already up, she figured she could use the time to take a trip to the city, maybe spend a day shopping and catching up with some friends there...

But right as she steps through the gate leading out of town, a blur suddenly shoots out in front of her, and all she sees after that are flowers being thrust into her face, followed by a loud and startling greeting.

“A-AAAAAAH!?” 

She stumbles back and shrieks in surprise, her heart nearly jumping out of her chest from the suddenness of it all. What in the world?

HE’S BEEN RACKING HIS BRAIN. It’s much harder to fit in with the humans, it seems. Well, with the humans. He’s human too. Well, human now after the whole incident and whatever. He was human now too but that didn’t mean diddly squat now that he thinks about it. 

Maybe human was a state of mind? Or maybe it was just how it be? Doggone, he wishes it was simpler. In the animal kingdom, it was always kind of just like. ‘Hey, let’s be friends!’ and everything was fine. In human society, it seemed like they only really wanted to be friends with people! And apparently with his suit on, he wasn’t very much of a people as he was an omnipresent fixture of Lulukoko.

People liked him there! They called him a good boy there, but it wasn’t like. Well, it wasn’t so easy with people outside of the oceanside town. The folks in Westown and Tsuyukusa were nice too, but relying on their kindness to help him come back as it were was too much. He was a grown man now. Not the same kid he used to be that got into that mess. He still wasn’t bold enough to leave his suit, but one step at a time. He wouldn’t push himself for more than one step at a time.

It is with this idea that he arms himself with flowers and tasks himself with the journey of a thousand miles to the next town over. Or well, next to next to next town over. Next to next?

Well, whatever. It didn’t really matter, he supposes. He was already there. So, here Woofio stands armed with several bouquets of flowers at the gate of Oak Tree Town. Or well, adjacent to the gate. In a bush. Where it’s safe. It was pretty early in the morning though, so maybe he’d have to wait a while lo — oh, no. No, he stands corrected! Right, this was his first test of courage. He would be bold, be brave. Once he got through one, it wouldn’t be so ruff.

And so, Woofio leaps out of the bushes whilst brandishing a bouquet of daisies into the stranger’s face. “HOWDY. GOOD MORNIN’, WOOF.”

Hah, nailed it.

Lillie (リーリエ Riri )

Birthday: August 6th Favorite Colors: Red and Yellow Favorite Food: Chocolate Ice Cream

Bright and full of energy, Lillie is the beloved weather forecaster of Oak Tree Town. Along with being a weather forecaster, she also does a children's program where she sings songs. 

She likes to help the other villagers when she has the opportunity to do so, and tries to be the best big sister possible for Melanie. She has a passion for watching the sky, clouds, and other atmospheric phenomenon. 

Since she is busy with her TV reporting, Lillie is out of town between 7:30 am and 17:00 pm during the work week. She's easier to find on the weekends, even though she still does a weekend weather report.
