I started reading garashir while I was still watching the show, so I stayed away from post-cardassia fics to avoid spoilers. That being said, I’ve read so much but what I read first always stands out to me the most- so the first thing that comes to mind is “Three and a Half Days” by prairiecow.

But any fic with 1) miscommunication due to cultural differences 2) trying to keep their relationship secret but failing, gives me default vibes

I’m curious: out there, what do people consider the default Garashir fic? Which one out there do people is most representative of the very most commonly witnessed plot beats etc? Very curious to know what people think.

(I always felt like Plus One was, personally. This is an entirely separate question from which is the “best”, and I’m just curious [although I do indeed like Plus One and think it’s very good]. It features things I think are the commonest facets we see intentional “deviation” from–that Bashir goes to work on Cardassia to help as a doctor, he doesn’t wait very long, they have some misunderstandings based partially on concerns about long-term compatibility but don’t really fight very much, they do some dating-not-dating, and Garak has a mid-level job that isn’t tailoring.)
