Rio de Jainero’s late afternoon light bled gold across the tiled balcony, still warm beneath your bare legs. Somewhere below, the waves kept their slow rhythm, hush hush hush, as if whispering secrets to the seawater Oikawa had just dried off from.
You sat side by side on a striped beach towel covering the seat that still smelled like sea spray and sunscreen, his knee pressed lazily to yours, damp hair curling at his temples, skin hot to the touch from the sun and dotted with leftover grains of sand. His arm was slung behind you, not holding you — not exactly — but there, grounding, steady, always just enough.
“Your nose ‘n cheeks got sunburned again,” he murmured, grinning without looking at you.
You rolled your eyes. “Because someone said I didn’t need that much sunscreen.”
He looked mock-offended. “I said that? Must’ve been your other boyfriend.”
You huffed a laugh, elbowing him lightly, but your smile softened as you leaned into him anyway.
Oikawa let the silence fall again, comfortable and full — the kind that didn’t ask for anything but your presence. You heard the distant call of kids still playing on the sand, the chirp of birds overhead, the hum of a nearby fan turning lazily.
“I could stay like this forever,” he said after a while, voice low and almost thoughtful. He wasn’t usually quiet after a beach day — usually, he was all sun-drenched swagger, throwing seaweed like a child, walking too far into the waves just to look back and yell your name like a challenge.
But now, he was still. And honest.
You looked at him then. His tan was deep, golden like melted sugar, collarbones flushed from the heat, his eyes crinkled at the corners from sun and laughter and time. His lashes cast sharp little shadows on his cheeks.
“You always say that,” you said, voice just as quiet.
He turned to you then, finally, and smiled — not his usual winning grin but something real.
“Yeah,” he said. “Because it’s always true.”
And then he kissed you, soft and salty, like ocean air. His skin still tasted like sun.
You stayed there long after the sun dipped below the horizon, the warmth of him pressed to your side, your limbs tangled like seafoam meeting shore.

pre-relationship moonwater/angeliyuu | 2.4k words | spoiler free.
he doesn't understand why master kagaya has done this - no, seriously, he really doesn't understand. was it a ploy to get the two most antisocial hashira to speak to each other? it might have worked if he was with muichiro or obanai, hashira that he could get words out of but angelica? she was a different matter, a much more different matter.
giyuu had never seen the girl speak more than a few words, ones that are always short and unconsciously blunt. the last time she'd said a full sentence that he'd heard, she was speaking to the master. the ubayashiki family are seemingly the only ones who can get her to speak outside of omens and he detests the idea that this mission is going to be silent, simply because he's not a member of the ubayashiki family.
with a pale full moon bright in the night sky, giyuu wonders why this mission has to take place tonight. was there a reason? it just seemed so unlike the moon hashira to be seen outside of the lunar estate on a full moon, these were prime conditions for her foresight at the pond and yet here she was, trailing at his side slightly behind him. he's not familiar with this forest, not this side of the mountain and yet somehow, angelica seems to be. even despite this, she stays at least one step behind him as if she was conditioned that way. a frown is quick to take place on giyuu's face as he looks ahead again. she probably was conditioned that way.
angelica's gaze is dull, lifeless and it always has been, every time he sees her it never changes. she keeps it ahead of her, weaving through the dense pine trees and undergrowth that giyuu has to make sure neither of them trip over. the longer the silence goes on, the more giyuu falls deeper and deeper into his own thoughts with questions about this whole thing; did she hate him? she'd speak with mitsuri and even kyojuro so why hadn't she said anything to him yet? what was the purpose of this mission? had her visions shown her a crisis that had to be diverted?
compared to him, giyuu notices angelica is considerably smaller. she doesn't quite match shinobu's small stance but she's definitely under the average height for a hashira. without her zori on, she might barely reach his shoulder. considering this factor of her appearance and her foresight, giyuu compares her to that of a crystal ball; whimsical, delicate, fragile. reasons to protect her, to shelter her from all harm.
the silence becomes unbearable and eventually, giyuu casts a sideways glance at the moon hashira at his side - something he presumes he should be honoured by - and speaks lowly, "where are we going?"
giyuu ponders that he's probably not going to get a response, not with that blank stare on her face akin to that of a corpse long gone from this world. his brows knit slightly as he tries not to think too much about it, returning his gaze ahead. the path is blocked by a fallen log and despite knowing she's perfectly capable, he holds an arm out to her, a silent offer of support and to his surprise, she does. placing a dainty hand over his lower arm, angelica braces herself and elegantly jumps up onto the log before landing on the other side like a cat. giyuu follows suit, mentally wondering if he was as elegant as she was. probably not.
"a village." the girl finally mumbles as they continue walking, neither of them acknowledging the brief contact they'd shared after years of avoiding each other. giyuu is taken aback by the sudden sound of her voice, soft and quiet but he tries not to let it show, humming in response. a village, though it's not much, it's something for him to work with.
although, missions regarding villages could vary from a wide range of things. judging by the lack of urgency in angelica's step, a whole village wasn't under attack or at stake and so he narrows it down to a mere threat narrowing in. even at the pace they were walking, they'd arrive before danger calls, he trusts that much. he trusts angelica's foresight that probably already played this scene behind her eyelids.
"a village, huh," giyuu repeats more to himself but out of the corner of his eye, he notices angelica does in fact give a small nod. he's never seen her acknowledge a conversation like that, "i take it this was in your visions?"
he's not sure why he keeps speaking to her, her earlier response could have just been a one-off but angelica blinks slowly and finally turns her gaze to look up at him. to her, she's always been quietly fascinated by the curls and textures of his hair, always pushed back into a ponytail but never fully contained. she likes the blue of his eyes too, something she's told mitsuri hushed over ramen. it reminds her of the water in her estate's pond.
"yes, it was," the words come out as they usually do; cold, with not an ounce of warmth in them. giyuu wonders if they've ever held warmth in them - does she know what warmth is? "a lumberjack family was suddenly found dead, except one small child covered in blood and wailing."
"so we're searching for the demon and avenging a family." nothing new, giyuu thinks to himself but he doesn't voice it. in fact, he can barely find his own words out of pure shock that angelica has spoken a full sentence to him. usually she was cryptic about her words, puzzles that you had to piece together in order to understand simply because you wouldn't get the answer from her directly. yet here she was, explaining a vision and in turn the mission to him as if she'd spoken to him her whole life.
giyuu reminds himself that she isn't mute. she's spoken sentences to master kagaya and mitsuri, even once or twice with gyomei. there's just something about her, something he wants to unwrap and understand what made her so silent; so still and yet moving at the same time, like a stream of water trickling quietly in a large forest.
"the demon is obvious, it's the child." angelica states with an edge to her voice and giyuu notices the way her hand has been draped over the hilt of her nichirin blade this whole time like she was preparing for the unknown, something her meditation didn't show her. the flower charm gifted by mitsuri hangs in the air, rocking with the hashira's steps.
the child? giyuu processes this infomation. he's not going to refute angelica's claim even if it sounds unreasonable. she's clearly seen it in her visions, unfazed by the idea that a young child had murdered their family in a confused state and was left with the image of dead family when they came to again. that thought alone was a lot to take in and yet angelica showed no guilt, no remorse at the thought of having to eradicate this demon - this child.
it wasn't much further until the pair arrived at the village and though the houses had seen better days, giyuu had at least expected a sign of life. instead, it was silent and the only greeting they acquired was the whispers of wind in the tree branches. he glances sideways at angelica again as a faint sobbing fills the desolate village. a sign of life, he thinks, just not the kind he was expecting.
at an instant, angelica's nichirin blade is unsheathed and the purple metal glints in the moonlight casted over them. in her stead, giyuu also unsheathes his blade and shifts his gaze around the empty buildings. while he would have loved for more of a mission brief from angelica, he knew what he got was as good as gold and in that with it, he should remember their target is a child but still nonetheless a demon.
"are you here to save me?" a weak voice speaks out into the night, a young boy emerging from the shadows of a wooden shack in disrepair. while his cheeks are tear stained and smeared with dried blood, his eyes are red with pupils in the shape of slits like a feline. undeniably a demon, one that makes giyuu grit his teeth, "will you play with me?"
giyuu parts his lips to speak, his tongue darting out to wet them but he has no chance to speak, no time to respond to the child's request as angelica dashes forward without a moment hesitation, drawing her blade back.
"moon breathing first form: crescent curve, dark night-" she utters, performing a singular horizontal slash in the shape of a crescent in the young boy's direction. he jumps back, avoiding the large crescent shaped attack that creates numerous chaotic crescent blades along its path, unable to completely dodge one of the smaller crescent blades that catches his upper arm.
the child yelps before turning his gaze from his new scratch to where the moon hashira situates herself on the roof of a shack, crouched and watching him like a hawk. it's like a light is switched on, the boy's nose scrunching up before he makes a break for her, jumping up to try reach the roof in inhuman strength. while she was ready for his move, she's suddenly reminded of giyuu's presence as her mission partner when he leaps up, vertically spinning forwards toward the demon, "water breathing second form: water wheel."
the attack catches the immature demon off guard, the very demon that had forgotten all about there being two demon slayers the moment angelica had attacked and in an instant, the flowing circular attack catches him, slicing off his arm as he falls back to the dirt. giyuu lands on his feet, sending a brief glance up at angelica as if he was checking he hadn't been too late with his attack.
to his relief, the moon hashira is uninjured, the breeze blowing at her hair as she keeps her eyes on the demon. he's unsure why she hasn't made another move at him, especially with how inexperienced the demon is. is she thrown off by its innocent form? she's usually so indifferent to demons that her stance is concerning.
angelica is doing nothing but observing. from the second she unleashed a moon breathing form with the moon high and bright above their heads, she'd lost her vision and was shut into a dark world much different to what giyuu was seeing. from that moment on, she saw the demon and giyuu as nothing but purple outlines and the trees, village buildings and even the rocks are faint golden outlines; things she could land on and utilise. even the birds nesting up in the tallest of trees had become nothing but a purple form to her.
"water breathing first form: surface slash-" giyuu knows they can't waste time thinking about the demon, if that's even what angelica was doing. it could regenerate that arm back, it could make another move on them or even make a break for it and so he launches himself forward, attacking the child with a single powerful concentrated slash that hits his chest.
the demon staggers back, his only hand clasping at the front of his woven shirt where blood seeps through. he didn't understand why they was attacking him, he didn't understand why he was attacking back, why he was hurting people, why he hurt his family. before he has a chance to recover, to charge at giyuu for hurting him, there's a female voice from above, "moon breathing fifth form: phases of beautiful emptiness."
it was a single curved strike, a pale silver flash before his eyes like that of the moon's glow as his head falls to the floor, forced to watch his body fall down after him - too far to reach, too far to comfort and hold. he expects this to be it, a fade to black as the demon slayers vanish as quick as they came but suddenly someone kneels beside his head.
her stockings are mismatched, not the same height nor colour as her cold hands reach for his decapitated head and settles him on her lap. he doesn't understand, blindly throwing out childish insults and cries at his murderer but angelica doesn't respond. she soothes one hand through his choppy hair, stroking in a comforting motion until the child demon's anger morphs into a distraught wailing for his parents.
giyuu watches in silence as the child's head and body finally crumble, fading into nothing. there's a look in angelica's eyes that he can't read - they're not as cold as they usually are, they don't remind him of plunging into freezing water that steals his breath and tenses every muscle in his body. before he has time to question it, to question her loyalty to the corps and her true nature towards demons, that sinking feeling goes. she blinks up at him slowly, standing back onto her feet and sheathing her nichirin blade as if it never happened.
he follows suite, raising to his feet and sheathing his blade. they remain silent as angelica's vision slowly returns to her, the colour of giyuu's eyes being the first thing she sees while he stands close before her. he doesn't know what compelled him to get this close, to enter her proximity so much that he can smell the faintest of wisteria and sea salt on her but he does. he doesn't know what he saw truly, the way she had cradled the child's head and comforted it until it was gone only moments after decapitating it by the hand of her own blade.
but for some reason, it churned something in him. a deep sensation that there was more to her than meets the eye. not a feeling of betrayal, not a finger to call her a traitor but a warmth that told him she knew how to mourn, how to lose something or someone. something that proved she wasn't just that apathetic shell of a human, lost to the trauma and repression of her childhood.
angelica's breath suddenly hitches in her throat when giyuu grabs her wrist without a word, leading her out of the village with a fierce determination to teach her how to feel. he doesn't know how he's going to do it or how to start but he knows there's one person he can ask - mitsuri kanroji.

self insert additional lore : hashira relationships.
this post includes spoilers for the kny plot as it includes lore from the infinity castle arc as well as spoilers for the moon hashira's outcome in the infinity castle. this post includes: giyuu tomioka, obanai iguro, sanemi shinaguzawa, shinobu kocho, muichiro tokito, mitsuri kanroji, kyojuro rengoku, tengen uzui, gyomei himejima & tanjiro kamado, nezuko kamado, zenitsu agatsuma, genya shinazugawa and inosuke hashibara.
giyuu tomioka. giyuu briefly knew about kagaya having some sorts of adopted daughter since they were close in age and angelica would often be seen around the ubayashiki estate. from what he saw before they were both hashira, giyuu didn’t hate her from the start like some of the other hashira. he was just warily trusting kagaya’s judgement. because of this, the pair of them have a blank slate; they don’t hate each other but there isn’t necessarily a friendship between them either. there’s no bad blood simply because they have no reason to not get along.
angelica very rarely speaks and rarely makes public appearances outside of hashira duties so initially, giyuu saw this as her disliking him. he knows the other hashira are indifferent about the way he puts himself at a distance and he’s socially awkward. it felt like she avoided him with intention but he’s observant and noticed how when she did speak - usually to the master or mitsuri, - she did it without malice. since giyuu’s also keeping his distance and not speaking, angelica just assumed he was holding out on the hate that the hashira greeted her with - even though he doesn’t hate her.
he sees her as a very capable ‘colleague,’ especially as kagaya sends them out on missions together quite frequently - in an attempt to get the pair to speak, most likely. angelica was present at the spider demon battle though she did not partake in combat and instead was there to take care of collateral. when angelica checked him for injuries that day despite him arguing that he was fine, he decided to try fix their weird relationship; he did this by asking mitsuri how to make daifuku, as it’s angelica's favourite snack. he’d leave them at the lunar estate’s gates anonymously, much to the estate staff’s dismay at the questionable looking gifts.
as far as their eventual relationship goes, they both deem themselves unworthy of being hashira. they don't believe they should be the water and moon hashira; though neither of them are aware the other feels that way until the hashira training arc. to giyuu, he doesn't believe he passed final selection but to angelica, she quite literally didn't even attend final selection. it gives them something to bond over.
obanai iguro. while obanai trusted kagaya's judgement into promoting angelica to hashira since kagaya had essentially raised her, he couldn't look past the fact she was born to a demon. his trauma with the snake demon left a massive imprint on his view of demons and with angelica's indifference to demons, he wasn't entirely sure if he could trust her. the longer he knew her and observed her time with mitsuri, he realised he couldn't stand her avoidant tendencies. he'd watch how a few others were attempting their hand at getting close to the moon hashira but she would shut them out. it only particularly angered him when it came to mitsuri but over time, he noticed how she was softening to the love hashira's kindness.
angelica doesn't dislike him despite how sometimes he can insult or be snappy with her due to his gynophobia, in fact the only time she feels a negative emotion towards obanai is when his insecurities show. angelica's observant nature from keeping her distance meant she often saw how obanai saw himself as having tainted, impure blood that made him lesser than the others and as someone who had a similar mindset about herself and her mother, she came to hate how he viewed himself.
after the hashira meeting where they met tanjiro and nezuko, obanai approached angelica in order to gain insight of her opinions. this would lead to him spending more time, especially visiting her at the lunar estate simply just to hear her speak - which soon became his favourite thing to hear. during his time at the lunar estate, obanai had heard in passing from the maids about how angelica deems her blood tainted and unpure because her mother was a demon; a similar mindset to his own regarding the snake demon.
sanemi shinaguzawa. when angelica became a hashira, sanemi was adamantly one of the current hashira who disliked her. sanemi doesn’t trust that she’s human, not with a demon mother who raised her this way. how could the master trust her knowing her bloodline? on the other hand, angelica cannot stand his personality; in her eyes he’s rude and too loud. to him, she’s ignorant and believes she acts the way she does because she has ‘the master in her pocket,’ meaning she thinks she’s too good for the others. considering they’re two incredibly strong hashira with such avid opinions of each other, perhaps it’s better if they kept avoiding each other.
despite mitsuri’s attempts at bonding angelica to the other hashira years after her promotion, sanemi is a strong believer that angelica should not be a hashira. he doesn’t respect her, no matter how much the others praise her combat and strength and quite frankly, angelica doesn’t respect him either. during the initial hashira meeting where they met tanjiro and nezuko, angelica believed sanemi to be making too much fuss and even believed he was going against the master’s orders, something that she felt strongly about as someone who basically worships the ground kagaya walks on.
due to how much they clash without words, kagaya always advises angelic to keep her distance from sanemi and out of respect, she does. as time goes on, she simply cares less about him and blocks him out during hashira meetings.
shinobu kocho. when angelica first became a hashira, there was an uproar from the hashira in belief that as a demon’s child, angelica couldn’t be trusted. shinobu holds that opinion very well, even as the other hashira change their opinions years later. angelica knows well why shinobu dislikes her and at hashira meetings, keeps to herself and at a distance. but by default, angelica has no opinion of shinobu. they very rarely are in each other’s presence for her to form a cemented opinion of shinobu despite how much shinobu dislikes angelica.
it isn’t very widely known between the hashira but when angelica is injured, she will absolutely deny being sent to the butterfly mansion and instead, she’ll tend to her wounds at the lunar estate. due to this, she has some form of medical experience or at least enough to cater to small and minor injuries. at the spider demon battle, after checking over giyuu for injuries, angelica proceeded to look at shinobu and walk away. she was minorly reprimanded by kagaya for this.
muichiro tokito. at first, muichiro didnt really know what to make of angelica and vice versa. he didn’t argue or really speak when she was promoted compared to some of the other hashira so angelica saw him as an ally from day one. they’re both silent and pretty apathetic so to the other hashira, they’re like looking at a mirror to each other. while he didn’t argue angelica's promotion, he silently didn’t welcome her until he saw angelica sparring with mitsuri and he gained a newfound sense of respect for the silent hashira. as such, they started bonding through sparring sessions at the lunar estate. the mist hashira holds quite a special place in the moon’s heart.
during the swordsmith village arc, angelica was sent as back-up to aid muichiro when word got out that he was battling gyokko with innocent lives nearby. though she hurried as quick as she could, she also assisted mitsuri with evacuating the swordsmiths from the village and only reached muichiro when gyokko had been eliminated. she tended to his injuries and helped muichiro ensure tanjiro got his half-finished sword to finish off hantengu.
when the hashira & co fall into the infinity castle upon nakime's summoning, angelica initially landed with muichiro, sanemi, gyomei and genya. seeing him as a younger brother, angelica swore to put her life on the line to protect him against kokushibo and fell into despair upon seeing muichiro's death as the moon hashira was aware they were very distantly related.
tengen uzui. tengen was slightly bitter about angelica when she initially was promoted to hashira. he held the same opinion as the others; that she was the child of a demon but he also believed that kagaya must have seen something in her so he decided to put his trust in the master. despite angelica's avoidant and silent personality, tengen is one of the few hashira who was persistent in befriending her - if that’s what you could call it. they don’t really hold a status to each other, neither dislike nor like but angelica holds a candle of respect to tengen as another hashira. sometimes, she’ll send gifts for his wives occasionally, which to him shows she has some humanity left in that shell of hers.
during the hashira training arc, angelica was more present with tanjiro in his mission to change giyuu’s mind about training but she was also there to assist him to tengen’s home once tanjiro was cleared for active duty. as a result, she spared some time to sit with the former hashira’s wives and even sparred with him later that night; to which he boasted to the demon slayers he was training about how much stronger she’d gotten since he first met her.
post-timeskip (good ending) when tengen’s child is born, angelica was frequently called for as a babysitter and was the one who taught giyuu how to correctly hold the child - which made both tengen and giyuu consider how she learnt it herself.
kyojuro rengoku. compared to the other hashira, kyojuro was less hateful towards angelica when she became a hashira. her life wasn’t her fault and the way she acted showed him she’d served enough damage for how things had gone. at first he did think she hated him but despite that, kyojuro is the other hashira who was persistent in befriending her. as mitsuri’s mentor, seeing the young girl so effortlessly bond to angelica sparked hope that there was a flame inside the moon hashira that just needed to be catered to. his persistence initially irritated angelica though she wouldn’t show it but as tengen and mitsuri also persisted, she became familiar with the idea that they didn’t care so much about her past, only her future.
just before kyojuro left for the mugen train arc, angelica was actually persistent with kagaya that she went with him as a supporting hashira. her attempts were futile and kagaya denied her going with kyojuro. it would be later when kyojuro didn’t return that angelica was left with an immense amount of guilt on her shoulders, enough for her to isolate herself even further from the others - and even more so from kagaya. it took kagaya months to get his relationship back with his adopted daughter and made the other hashira realise just how much angelica was feeling despite her stoic and apathetic shell.
mitsuri kanroji. while everyone else was harsh to angelica and gave her the cold shoulder, mitsuri embraced her as one of them instantly. she found angelica's backstory to be so tragic and devoid of love, and with the hashira acting the way they did, she knew they were only going to drive angelica further away from the warmth of humanity. as such, she became angelica's best friend from the beginning. angelica found the pink haired girl to be a beacon of light in the dark, one who didn’t mind the darkness she held in her. mitsuri spent a lot of time with angelica to get to where they are now, many months of visiting the lunar estate and coaxing angelica out. even with all this effort on mitsuri’s behalf, angelica isn’t quite ready to drop her guard. that’s okay though because mitsuri is ready to teach her all about emotions.
the girls nowadays usually spend a lot of their time sparring, mitsuri truly admires how flexible and graceful like the moon her best friend can be and sometimes for fun, mitsuri will purposefully plan their sparring sessions under the moon so that angelica's vision loss occurs during combat, leaving her to hone her other senses.
gyomei himejima. when angelica was saved and brought into the ubayashiki estate, gyomei was already close to kagaya so he came to know angelica before her hashira promotion. his blindness lead to him not knowing how emotionless the girl was nor how she struggled so badly without these emotions but as she grew up, he became familiar with her quiet breathing and the peaceful atmosphere she brought with her. gyomei was on the wall about angelica's promotion, he didn't have the heart to cater to hatred, especially to the young girl he'd grown to know before the promotion.
even as she became a hashira, gyomei would often meditate in her company. gyomei is one of the first hashira that angelica began to genuinely like due to seeing him around so often before she became a hashira. as gyomei is blind and angelica has moments of vision loss during combat at night, the two actually spar sometimes at the lunar estate. it hones angelica's ability to see only the outlines of things and people and rely on her senses when it comes to gyomei's attacks. when she seeks peace, she often goes to gyomei's home to sit by the waterfall.
as gyomei was the hashira kagaya entrusted his plan to, he made gyomei promise not to tell angelica the most. as she is kagaya's adopted daughter, the both of them knew that she'd be the most against it. kagaya had both trust and faith in gyomei to keep this from the other hashira as well as protect the young woman he'd raised into adulthood.
—
tanjiro kamado. tanjiro's first impression of angelica was at the spider demon fight. to already have two hashira present (giyuu and shinobu) only for another to appear at the very ending startled him but she didn't seem to hold vicious intent to him like the others he'd encountered. she was more focused on checking injuries though he didn't miss how she'd avoid shinobu. despite this, she seemed familiar to him. this was his first time meeting her, how could this be? in reality, angelica was at his village on a mission just before he'd found his family dead and he'd seen her very briefly in passing.
at the very first hashira meeting to discuss what happens to him and nezuko, angelica remained silent and didn't seem to hold an opinion. whether he was simply angry and defensive from the other hashira opinions or whether he considered silence as compliance, he took it as a sign that angelica also didn't like him and nezuko. in actuality angelica was torn between her duties as a hashira and her indifference to demons - this much was obvious to her fellow hashira. her silence was in fact not compliance and tanjiro would soon learn that from the others.
when he'd learned to accept that angelica didn't dislike him, he approached her to ask about her experience with her mother; despite being a demon, her mother still had the humanity to keep her alive and he considered that it was similar to nezuko's situation. angelica turned him away numerous times at the gates of the lunar estate but kagaya and kyojuro insisted he was persistent - so he continued until she caved in.
considering angelica isn't talkative and barely gives more than a few soft spoken words in response to him, tanjiro did develop a small puppy crush on the slightly older woman. angelica only saw him as a younger brother though. during the hashira training arc, tanjiro already excedes at her training to develop senses but when it came to sparring against angelica, he struggled to keep up with her attacks. when his crow announced her death in the infinity castle, tanjiro was fuelled with another reason to defeat muzan.
nezuko kamado. compared to her human brother, nezuko seemed to grasp the concept that angelica showed no malice from the start. despite being given numerous chances to end nezuko's life (the most predominant one being when she discovered the kamado family's bodies before tanjiro did), she never did and in fact sometimes held a softer look in her dull eyes whenever she glanced upon nezuko or her box.
when tanjiro begins to spend a lot of time at the butterfly mansion, he leaves nezuko in angelica's care at the lunar estate. the small demon girl seems to find comfort in angelica and at night, she'll sit by angelica's side outdoors. tanjiro didn't expect angelica to accept nezuko in her care so quickly but he would never understand the guilt angelica was consumed by whenever she looked at the kamado siblings, simply because she arrived too late to the village that day.
nezuko might not entirely understand angelica and the way she is but she understands that despite everything her mother did to her, angelica still has the kindness in her heart to care for nezuko. out of all the hashira, angelica's trauma would make her high on the ranking of who would be against nezuko and yet, she takes the young girl under her wing just as she does tanjiro, silently loving like she was made to be an older sister.
zenitsu agatsuma. zenitsu's first meeting with angelica is brief and frankly, she's glad it ended as quick as it started. when zenitsu, inosuke and tanjiro were on bedrest at the butterfly mansion following the mugen train arc, angelica made a quick stop to visit tanjiro specifically while shinobu was away; avoidant as ever. zenitsu had flipped on tanjiro about hiding yet another beautiful woman from him until tanjiro very nervously introduced angelica as the moon hashira.
to angelica, zenitsu's obsession with pretty women and scared cat personality was almost irritating. she was used to the loud personalities of tengen, kyojuro and mitsuri and yet, this was almost too much for her. for the most part, she doesn't so much as give zenitsu the attention he craves from her, even shielding nezuko from him on numerous occasions. after a while, zenitsu becomes increasingly less interested in her due to her silent and apathetic personality, instead growing a little fearful of her.
during the hashira training arc, zenitsu chickened out of angelica's night training numerous times, especially when she herself was the one hunting them down in the dark. for some reason, zenitsu's obsession had turned to fear in the short span of realising how strong she was in combat, even with her vision loss. after angelica got tired of zenitsu's incessant whining distracting the other demon slayers, she allowed him to move on to the next hashira, which would be obanai. upon hearing from angelica about why zenitsu moved on, obanai went a little harder on him.
genya shinazugawa. there's very little to say about genya and angelica interacting because quite frankly, there is very little opportunity for them to do so. seeing as genya's brother is a hashira that angelica avoids at all costs due to not seeing eye-to-eye, it actually made her avoidant of genya for a good while out of caution that he was anything like his brother. one of their first genuine interactions was during the swordsmith village arc when angelica finally got to muichiro and later assisted genya with his injuries; this is where angelica realised the difference in them.
genya took the time to explain to angelica privately about his and sanemi's backstory and while things began to line up mentally about sanemi's behaviour and opinions, angelica made no move to befriend the wind hashira due to his opinion of her not changing. during the hashira training arc, genya did fantastic at angelica's training despite not using a breathing technique.
when they all fell into the infinity castle, angelica landed with both the shinaguzawa brothers, her distant cousin removed muichiro and gyomei. she may have had bad blood with sanemi but her sisterly habits shown to the kamado siblings overcome her differences with the fellow hashira when she put her life on the line to protect genya and muichiro.
inosuke hashibara. angelica willingly avoided him for a long time after tanjiro had explained about his weird friend. her first time meeting him was the same as zenitsu; while they were all on bedrest and thankfully, inosuke was far too caught up arguing and doing anything but resting to give angelica much hassle compared to zenitsu. they don't have much to bond over and honestly, inosuke doesn't see a benefit in socialising with her - simply because nobody gets any type of conservation out of her.
despite this, he knows better than to get on her bad side due to her strength as a hashira. she's the exact type of person that needs to be on his side, he realised that upon seeing tanjiro and angelica spar one night when tanjiro was honing hinokami kagura. it was an explosive display of tanjiro's modified sun breathing and angelica's modified moon breathing, two contrasting techniques in the middle of the night.
during the hashira training arc, inosuke blitzed through her training due to his wild senses - he did not blitz through honing them to sense her attacks in the dark however, especially when the hashira utilised his ability to tell when and where someone is looking at him against him. with her lack of vision under the moon while moon breathing is active, angelica instead used her peripheral vision to spot inosuke's outline so that he wouldn't sense her direction completely before she attacked.

self insert additional lore : children.
the moon hashira is involved in two canon selfships; though neither end happily. however, for the both of them, there are "good endings," endings where we ignore the canon endings of both selfships and instead replace them with a happier ending, one where everyone survives and things are better. in these good endings, the moon hashira mothers three children across both selfships - and they apply in modern au too.
— yuka tomioka | fem | 6-10 years old.
yuka is a quiet young girl who primarily takes after her father. she has giyuu's textured black hair but with a few strands of dark brown mixed in from her mother; as she grew older, yuka started to straighten her hair to deal with the hassle her textured hair presented to her. while both of her parents have blue eyes, yuka's shade of blue is closest to her father's shade. other than the strands of her mother's hair colour, the only thing yuka got from angelica was her long eyelashes.
as with both of her parents, yuka isn't a talkative child. when the three of them are home together, both canon and modern au, they favour company and their quality time but do converse with each other. yuka will talk in the presence of her many aunts and uncles in all alternate universes, it takes a village to raise a child. namely in canon au, yuka enjoys calligraphy whereas in modern au, she favours photography as her hobbies - though in modern au, she's dappled in calligraphy.
yuka is also an avid swimmer and loves to be bodies of water. in modern au, the family opted to move to a coastal town where yuka would have access to the beach 24/7 which leads to the girl's future obsession with marine biology. as well as this, she plays piano. on the other hand in canon au, yuka sticks to her japanese calligraphy with the occasional pastime of sewing. she was taught this by her auntie nezuko, who she watched fix her mother's haori once.
— kaori & yoru iguro | fem & masc | 11-16 years old.
the tragic twins of obanai and angelica iguro. kaori is a naturally sleepy young girl with her mother's dark brown hair chopped to her shoulders and her father's heterochromatic eyes. she genetically acquired obanai's poor eyesight and only wears glasses in modern au. yoru on the other hand has his father's black hair and angelica's blue eyes. under his right eye, there's a mole that mimics the mole under his mother's left eye.
in school, kaori is seen as sly and a trickster by her classmates, something her parents aren't sure where or who she got it from - to her aunts and uncles, they think it might be angelica's actual personality if she hadn't been forced into repressing everything as a child. kaori is usually sleepy and enjoys lollipops, baggy clothes and skateboarding, which is something obanai taught her how to do in modern au. in canon au, kaori is more into wasting her time napping and spending her time awake annoying her twin brother - or venturing where she shouldn't.
yoru has his father's grumpy attitude and his mother's antisocial tendencies, often isolating himself, even from his parents. in modern au, angelica and obanai are often called to the school about his behaviour. despite his snappy words and unfriendly stare, yoru grew his hair out slightly to match his father's, which just goes to show his softer side. he's usually has his head in books about reptiles - thanks to kaburamaru, this applies to both universes, - and practices with a blade. in canon au, he does this with his retired parents' old nichirin blades (that he isn't supposed to touch) and in modern au, he surprisingly signed himself up to a kento club at school.

self insert character sheet ; the moon hashira.
name: angelica tsugikuni. age: 20. pronouns: she/they. status: (hidden for now.)
angeliyuu | obanelica | relationships | 'good' endings | children | the lunar estate
backstory. to the majority that know about it, moon breathing was only ever used by its creator, michikatsu tsugikuni and therefore, it 'died' with him. to a very select few, they would know that michikatsu had a son and a daughter - a daughter that he'd bargained muzan into making a demon so she'd be just as eternal as he was. these events happened perhaps thousands of years ago but to kokushibo and his daughter who both utilised moon breathing now as a blood demon art, this was only the beginning.
in an attempt to produce another powerful demon into their bloodline, angelica's mother coerced her way into a human male's life after a mere few thousand years - landing us into the taisho period. it was to the dismay of her mother that she birthed twins, both born as a human. it was through their mother's lingering humanity kept the newborns alive. as they grew up, angelica's mother chose to use the two girls to feed on as constantly reproducing blood banks but angelica's twin suddenly disappeared and their mother denied having anything to do with it. following this, angelica's mother had violent tendencies when the young child showed emotion, more than likely because it served as a brutal reminder that the girl was a human.
despite her being a human, angelica was taught the moon breathing technique by her mother. it was more forced upon her, withstanding long and brutal hours of training. at this point, it was less a breathing technique and more a blood demon art adapted by kokushibo and his daughter, leaving angelica to pick up the fragments that she could utilise for herself as a swordswoman.
angelica never trained specifically to join the demon slayer corps. in fact, the girl was so reserved and cut off from the world, she most likely didn't know they existed until that night. thousands of years of terrorising but her mother had slipped up during an attack on a nearby village, resulting in the demon slayer corps being involved. they tracked her to the remote shack she'd be keeping angelica in, eradicating her.
at first, the swordsmen were unsure about the young girl - they wasn't even sure if she could speak but with a hashira present, they come to the realisation that the girl was very much a human and with that, she was brought back to the headquarters. it was the current head of the ubuyashiki family that protected the girl despite her past, helping her to hone moon breathing as her own until her eventual promotion into her role as the first moon hashira.
it was once again kagaya ubuyashiki who noticed the otherwise silent girl's ability to prophesise events and with study, it was concluded she could see at least a week into the future but only if she meditated at a clearwater pond not far from the headquarters during a clear night, where the moon bathed the ground. this clearwater pond is where kagaya would have the future lunar estate built; angelica's home as a hashira.
character description. angelica is a short (157cm) young woman with pale skin, dark blue eyes and long dark brown hair that reaches her lower back. she usually wears her hair down but can occasionally be seen with it in a braid, done by her close friend mitsuri kanroji. there are two loose, chin-length hair strands that curve downwards framing either side of her face. there is a dark mole under the outer corner of her left eye. her eyes are usually opaque and void of pupils, similar to tomioka - in the presence of certain characters, she may appear to have pupils.
she wears the standard demon slayer corps uniform* but in a slightly dark grey tint - similar to how kanao's uniform is slightly purple tint. instead of the usual tattsuke-hakama pants, she wears a short thigh length pleated skirt. her belt is still white as per the uniform but the buckle is light grey. on her right leg, angelica wears a dark purple stocking that reaches above her knee whereas on her left leg, angelica wears a black stocking that stops under her knee. on her left thigh, there's a dark purple garter with pale yellow diamonds that go around the whole length. she wears pair of white zōri.
in both ears, angelica has a lobe piercing where she usually wears silver satellite chain earrings that finish at the end of the chain with small stars. the right ear's chain is slightly longer than the left.
*consists of button-up jacket with golden buttons, stand collar and long sleeves.
angelica's haori is mostly plain black with two thin white stripes on either sleeve close to her wrist. along the bottom of her haori is a dark purple trim with the lunar phases along the length in a pale yellow.
as per her breathing technique, an adapted version of her 'late' grandfather's moon breathing, angelica's nichirin blade is purple. the guard shows two crescent moons and is silver. the hilt of her blade is wrapped in white, with the main base of it being pale yellow. the very end of it is black. towards the end of the hilt, there's a thin strapped leather bracelet with a pink flower charm tightly secured. the inner of the pink flower is green and was a gift from mitsuri. her nichirin blade's scabbard is dark purple. angelica's demon slayer mark appears in the form of two upside down crescent moons under her eyes that follow the curve of her eyes.
[ art by @sincerelyhunnybee ♡ ]
personality. angelica is virtually nonverbal for the majority of her time as a demon slayer and hashira. she speaks very selectively, often in words of poetry or prophecies and otherwise stays silent - mitsuri manages to get brief conversations out of her. due to her mother's violent tendencies brought on by her showing emotion, angelica is always expressionless and struggles to wrap her head around the emotions people around her showcase, especially mitsuri's obsession with love.
she's calm, aloof and possibly stoic which puts her at a tie with giyuu's own personality, which often makes him self aware of how he acts to others. despite her silence, angelica has a strong sense of justice and responsibility that can often be viewed as her proving her loyalty and gratitude to the demon slayer corps. she's reluctant to violate the code of conduct even if for a mere moment and hesitates in moments that may present itself; this includes when nezuko and tanjiro were first brought to the headquarters, where she was torn between her hatred for demons spawned from her mother and her ability to see nezuko's difference to others.
sometimes she can be indifferent to demons even if it's difficult to spot. she's a talented swordswoman but rarely draws out her blade for minor things - even demons. due to this, she's almost always deployed with another hashira that will pick up any minor details that angelica ignores while chasing and fighting the main target. she has no remorse for the demons however, often having vivid memories and nightmares regarding her mother that reminds her of her internal hatred.
underneath her cold, expressionless attitude, it's apparent that angelica suffers from her time away from other humans and her mother's way of raising her. as much as she's adapted moon breathing in her own personal way, she views it as a remain of her mother and loathes using it. at times she loses her vision - though not in the way others would assume. these moments of brief 'blindness' come to her during the heat of using moon breathing in combat, occuring at night under the moon. while she cannot see clearly, she can see things and people as outlined by the moon, heightening her awareness of her and the enemy's surroundings. to make up for her occasional vision loss, angelica's hearing is incredibly precise hearing which often scares the other hashira.
while she might seem apathetic and hard to approach, angelica feels a lot of things inside whether she understands them or not - and chances are she doesn't understand them but one emotion she does understand very strongly is guilt. she knows this because the day tanjiro's family was killed, she'd been sent to the village on a special mission by kagaya in a hope to catch muzan if even briefly. in fact, when tanjiro was in the village that day, he'd passed angelica in the street. angelica spared nezuko that day despite not knowing what compelled her to but most importantly, she understood that she was drowning in guilt for simply getting there too late.
the lunar estate. as angelica's home, the lunar estate is similar to that of the butterfly mansion. for the most part it is a serene manor within the estate walls with a japanese dry garden that angelica tends to when she's away from duty. many of the flowerbeds around the estate are filled with moonflowers and evening-primoses. the lunar estate was built at its location due to angelica's relation to the clearwater pond that sits in the middle of the courtyard. here is where she kneels on clear nights in order to see brief events for the future week.
many of those that reside at the lunar estate are just maids or other servants that care for the manor in angelica's absence - or presence - however there are a few shamans that practice divination and as such, the lunar estate in the demon slayer corps' home for spiritual services such as reading futures or blessing tools and weapons. it's rare for anyone other than angelica to leave the estate and is more common for people to enter it.
as giyuu and angelica start fixing their relationship during the hashira training arc where angelica was sent with tanjiro to change giyuu's mind, he gifted her koi fish for her pond. angelica's role in changing giyuu's mind was due to her not participating in the hashira training herself at first as kagaya instead had her protected as the prophet foreseeing the future of the demon slayer corps as muzan became knowledgeable about her existence as kokushibo's granddaughter - she eventually convinced him to let her train swordsmen, which she did by hosting her training at night in the dark with the intention of teaching them how to fight with no visibility. her training came after obanai's training.
as one of the most talented swordswomen in the demon slayer corps, angelica's intellect and movements during combat rank higher than some of her fellow hashira. as bonds grow, she becomes more comfortable using her breathing technique to spare the other hashira should they ask her. these sparring sessions usually happen in the courtyard of the lunar estate.

trivia. ☽ angelica's favourite snack is daifuku after she was introduced to it by mitsuri. as a means of trying to get closer to her, giyuu has made her a plate or two - in return she has made him salmon with daikon. ☽ angelica has a huge soft spot for kaburamaru and obanai has observed on multiple occasions that her dull eyes acquire a little light in them when she's interacting with the snake. ☽ angelica is a very distantly removed cousin to muichiro. angelica was born directly to michikatsu's daughter whereas muichiro came from multiple generations worth of lineage from michikatsu's son. ☽ outside of the corps, angelica's hobby is playing a koto. ☽ angelica remembers her twin very vividly, in fact she's described her once to kagaya and amane in case her twin had survived and was ever found. ☽ in kimetsu academy, angelica is a music teacher. she's still less social but has a usually good relationship with her students. ☽ angelica is one of only five hashira that use a normal nichirin katana - the others are giyuu tomioka, kyojuro rengoku, sanemi shinazugawa and muichiro tokito. ☽ going into the infinity castle, angelica didn't know that her grandfather was an upper moon.

who does a bird sing for? | the gossip girls.
"how do you even use this app?" "maggie, you seriously did not just ask that."

not as renown on campus as perhaps black sapphire would hope them to be, the gossip girls tend to do just as the name hints - gossip. it's usually at the hands on the group's journalism major, black sapphire and sometimes the classical studies major, camellia. if you had to ask a student who they knew other than them, caramel choux would be their next choice! the management & tourism major is ku's very own sweetheart and in her words, cupid. magnolia and licorice? they like it best when they're not known.

may i also ask what he did with your feathers then :3
wiggles my butt and sits down again here :3 keigo did a lot with my feathers honestly! considering the different uses of my quirk, we both use our feathers sparsely and giving each other feathers is so sacred - he views mine as more important due to the ofuda-type healing they give so he's wary of how he uses them.
for the most part, he has a very small feather from closer to my back in a ring he wears on his thumb, locked in with resin so i'm always with him on missions - if i'm not deployed as a search & rescue or support hero, that is. he has another one of my feathers, one that's much more regular sized on his nightstand, at least that's where it's originally placed when we don't live together. i joke that it collects dust but he actually carries it around inside his jacket pocket daily, casual or not. he just places it on his nightstand so i don't know he does it.
#stupid stupid birds#bakugou and izuku actually notice the one inside his jacket pocket.. keigo made them swear not to tell me <3#(newsflash: bakugou told me after the final war)#:: star : keigo#:: mail

you still have all of my heart ; keigo takami.
introductions : pro hero!angelica. growing up and as they became pro-heroes together, everyone kinda assumed that angelica and keigo were related. they are very much not, in fact keigo's been pining for angelica since they were younger. at first, keigo's parents were going to use angelica as a bargaining chip in order to earn money but the plan fell through when the hero public safety commission took keigo in and put him through a harsh training regimen - at this time, angelica was on the path to becoming a student at ua high.
there were a few times that the hero public safety commission attempted to take in angelica, in hopes of producing another double agent that could replace lady nagant alongside keigo but her parents would win every battle; socially and legally. when keigo came public as hawks and angelica came public as plume de dame - lady's feather however nicknamed as simply plume or lady, - japan was excited about these two new feathered heroes.
angelica's wings are that of a white dove that fade slightly into blue at the tips of her feathers, a caged bird in comparison to keigo's namesake of a hawk. where she shares some similar abilities to him thanks to their wings, namely keen intellect, spacial awareness and her ability to control her feathers and flight. her quirk 'talisman' focuses more on healing and her ability to succeed in search & rescue.
current status.following the final war, the pair both became quirkless and in turn, flightless birds. keigo became the president of the hero public safety commission whereas angelica became a teacher at ua high, still lithe and sharp-witted enough to teach search & rescue classes to the students without her quirk. the pair live together in a high-rise apartment earned by their income and have spoke about children, very briefly though due to angelica's trauma of the final war.
lovers' tracklist. arms tonite , mother mother / fallin' , alicia keys / never let me go , florence + the machine / make you mine , public / kiss me , sixpence none the richer / king of the clouds , panic at the disco / i can see you , taylor swift.
i will water the ground where i stand so the flowers can grow back again.

Been a while since I last watched mha but something that the fandom agrees on is that keigo would give his lover a feather to keep (from what I've seen at least)
My question is what did you do with that feather? A necklace perhaps? Or do you prefer to keep it in your person another way?
wait why is there a BOMB IN MY INBOX ISABEL SOBS 。゚(゚´ω`゚)゚。 so keigo was kinda a sweetie and he's given me two feathers; one when i accepted his advances (finally) and the second one after him and endeavour fought high-rise - it was sort of a wake-up call for our time together as pro-heroes.
the first feather was made into a necklace for me! a very small pendant one that i typically don't wear unless i'm off the job, just out of fear of losing it and the second one is very securely clipped into my hair behind my ear :3 so while i am also a bird ability user, my wings are white and his red contrasts them majorly.
i have... also given him a feather or two from my own wings (*´꒳`*)
#hard to speak of his wings without spoiler hic sniff#his lore post will have the spoiler tho ^^' actually now i think about it ahhh#:: star : keigo#:: mail

you still have all of my heart ; haitham & kaveh.
introductions : dancer!angelica. born to two renown scientists at the fontaine research institute of kinetic engineering, angelica was supposedly born into the world of science and experiments like it was a legacy. despite this, she was way more interested in knowledge elsewhere and spent the majority of her childhood studying so that she could earn a place at sumeru's akademiya.
despite her lack of knowledge for the sumerian language, she was drawn to the haravatat darshan and used its disciplines of linguistics and ancient runes studies to get a firm grasp on sumeru's language. it was during her time as a haravatat student that she met the equally quiet alhaitham who didn't seem to show much interest in her at first - but still enough to choose her as a research partner for a thesis.
it was her growing friendship with haitham that introduced her to his later roommate, kaveh who would occasionally be a research partner for them as a kshahrewar student. when they graduated, haitham gained the role as the akademiya's scribe, kaveh established his own independent architecture agency and angelica became a dancer at the zubayr theatre following an encounter with the sweet nilou.
current status.there was a lot of back and forth between the trio especially during the sumeru archon quest however following it, angelica moved into their shared house in sumeru city. unsure of how society would react to the polyamorous relationship, only angelica and kaveh are engaged as of right now. there are no children in the relationship following a miscarriage with what would have been haitham's child.
lovers' tracklist. for riddles, for wonders , hoyo-mix / baby boy , sean paul + beyonce / loveeeeeee song , rihanna / lose my breath , destiny's child / pon de replay , rihanna / simarik , tarkan / habibi - albanian remix , ricky rich.

you still have all of my heart ; ryunosuke akutagawa.
introductions : civilian!angelica. life has been a tornado spinning angelica for the most part. she lives in yokohama though it's a rundown neighbourhood of dirty apartments and even dirtier bars. orphaned, angelica's been here all her life - in fact, she works in one of the bars and as payment, the owner allows her to rent the apartment above the bar. it's small and dim with metal stairs scaling the side of the building being her only access in and out. majority of the time, angelica keeps the lights out too; the less inhabited it looks from the outside, the better.
the shelves and surfaces are adorned with flourishing green plants and some even hang from the ceiling in pots. occasionally among the foliage, you might catch sight of a photo frame holding a photo of angelica's father; oda sakunosuke. she doesn't know much about him except the array of orphaned kids she grew up with. she was much older than them, already in her teens when the van incident happened and suddenly the port mafia contacted her about her father's death.
the bar she works in serves many members of the port mafia, usually low ranking officers with the occasional appearance of an executive or slightly slower. ryunosuke isn't a frequent visitor unless he has to fetch one of his slacking subordinates but one night as he walks back from the aforementioned bar, he couldn't help but run into a group of men harassing a young lady. even if he says he doesn't care, he's not going to sit idly by and do nothing.
alternative universes. pending.
current status. due to ryunosuke's declining health and his position in the port mafia not guaranteeing a tomorrow, he proposed to angelica a few months after they finally got together. they had a small courthouse wedding with nobody present, especially since ryunosuke is keeping her secret from the port mafia. the pair have agreed to no children.
lovers' tracklist. call out my name , the weeknd / like real people do , hozier / hate me , nico collins / water fountain , alec benjamin / oh ana , mother mother / daddy issues , the neighbourhood / friends , chase atlantic / sarcasm , get scared.

nothing can convince me that food is not a love language. offering your f/o a bite of your food to show that you want to include them in your life. your f/o making sure you're eating well and don't go hungry, asking you throughout the day if you've eaten yet to show care. cooking your f/o a nice homemade meal if they haven't eaten anything proper in a while. maybe you can't cook and have to follow a recipe closely, and maybe even that goes horribly wrong but you still showed them that you love them and want them to be well nourished. customizing the meals you make for each other and cutting the food into hearts and other fun shapes. cooking something with your f/o. going out to eat something, maybe trying something new together and sharing those new experiences. sharing food of each other's cultures for the first time. waow
