absolutely love abusing the power that comes with 3rd person limited pov and just ignoring things and being vague sometimes. does the character know all the details? no? then I don't have to either.

Smash Bros Fighters with Pokémon Types
Saw a few videos on it, wanted to make my own!
Mario - Normal/Fire
Normal is a type utilized for adaptability (Smeargle, Kecleon, Ditto), which seems very fitting for a guy known for his use of numerous power-ups. Then Fire is because he’s most well-known for his firey powers, which Smash emphasizes.
Builder Mario - Rock/Fire
Now he builds!
Donkey Kong - Fighting
He’s a big strong boy that’s always ready to rumble — exactly what Fighting represents.
Link - Fairy/Steel
Heroic and honorable characters seem like a good fit for the Fairy type, and for Link it makes even more sense given his elven characteristics and mystical connection to Triforce. Then Steel for the importance of the Master Sword and Hylian Shield, along with his general sense of toughness and durability.
Samus - Steel/Electric
A massive aspect of her is her Power Suit, so Steel covers that armor aspect. Then Electric since her usage of technology and lasers is befitting of it as a sort of energy type.
Dark Samus - Steel/Poison
I don’t know that much about Metroid lore, but what I *do* know is that Dark Samus is basically sentient goo energy that has fused with Samus’s Power Suit (at least I hope that’s right). So once again Steel for the Power Suit, then Poison because she’s evil goo.
Yoshi - Dragon/Fairy
He’s a dinosaur so that’s pretty much a gimme for the Dragon-type. But Yoshi is a sweet and helpful dinosaur, often running around in places with bright flowers and rainbows, so Fairy is also suitable.
Kirby - Normal
Ditto is a Normal-type, enough said.
Fox - Fire
My Star Fox knowledge is worse than my Metroid knowledge, so this is most a vibe-based choice. He uses a blaster and his up-special is a firey move.
Luigi - Normal/Ghost
Like Mario, Normal is for his adaptability. But Luigi gets Ghost instead of Fire because of all his adventures Ghost-busting! I suppose Flying could also work, given he utilizes a vacuum, but Ghost gives a nice two-way relationship between Luigi and ghosts. (Although being a Normal-type he would actually be immune to Ghost-types!)
Ness - Psychic
He’s psychic! (Please don’t make me look too deep into Mother lore.)
Captain Falcon- Fire/Electric
From his signature Falcon Punch the Fire-type is mandatory. Then Electric is known for its speediness, and though Captain Falcon doesn’t use his race car all too often in Smash it still seems fitting to me.
Peach - Fairy/Flying
She’s sweet and gentle — Fairy-type — but is light-hearted and floaty — Flying-type. Plus her parasol is important to her move set.
Daisy - Fairy/Ground
Don’t forget: in her origin game, Daisy is the ruler of a desert kingdom!
Bowser - Fire/Dragon
He’s a fire-breathing dragon, kinda answers itself.
Ice Climbers - Ice
It’s literally in their name!
Sheik - Ghost
She’s a ninja utilizing disguise and trickery — a good fit for the Ghost-type.
Zelda - Psychic
While Fairy could also work, her connection to the Goddess and general magic powers few more Psychic-themed.
Dr. Mario - Normal
He’s a doctor, and in Pokémon healing is fairly common in the Normal Type. Plus hes basically Mario minus the fire.
Falco - Flying
Vibe-based again. He’s fast and he’s a bird.
Marth - Fighting/Ice
Okay, I finally had to cave and pull up a wiki for the Fire Emblem characters. Marth is a fighter first and foremost, strong and honorable, so Fighting just makes sense. The Ice-type may seem a bit odd, but he defeats an earth dragon of some kind, and both Dragon and Ground are weak to ice!
Lucina - Dragon/Ghost
So she apparently has Naga blood in her or something, so Dragon is the closest I can get to that. Then she apparently time-travels and disguises herself as Marth for a bit? Sounds ghostly enough for me!
Young Link - Fairy/Grass
Fairy for the same reasons as adult Link, but Grass rather than Steel since he isn’t quite at his full strength and has a distinct forest connection.
Ganondorf - Dark/Ground
He’s evil, so that covers Dark, and Gerudo are desert people so that covers Ground!
Roy - Fire/Dragon
He uses firey power in Smash, and in Fire Emblem he gets something that boosts his power. The best I can do is give him Dragon-type, since dragons are basically strengthened fire.
Chrom - Dragon/Fairy
He also has Naga blood, and otherwise seems very honorable and has a particular sword that I’m not willing to re-lookup the name of but gave me Fairy vibes.
Mr. Game & Watch - Normal/Poison
Honestly, he’s one of the most difficult ones I had to do. Normal because he’s a 2D guy (like a Porygon Jr!) and then Poison because of his octopus form (I’ve been inked too many times in Nintendo Land).
Meta Knight - Flying/Dark
You know why the scourge of Brawl is a Flying-type. Then Dark because he’s secretive and often has an ambiguously-friendly role in Kirby games (though nowadays he’s mainly a friend.)
Pit - Fairy
A critical fact I know about this guy is that without Palutena he is completely unable to fly! So no Flying-type for Pit, and Fairy is because he’s an angel.
Dark Pit - Dark/Fairy
Pit, but he’s Dark! (Look I didn’t give Dark to Dark Samus, so Pittoo gets it.)
Zero Suit Samus - Electric
Samus minus her suit.
Wario - Poison
He’s stinky, he’s a menace, he drives a motorcycle.
Snake - Steel/Fire
I refuse to look at Metal Gear lore, that’s stuff is *insane.* Weaponry and firepower, matching types for those.
Ike - Dark/Fighting
Didn’t know he led a band of mercenaries! Then he’s definitely the most aggressive of the Fire Emblem characters, so Dark and Fighting work for both aspects.
Diddy Kong - Grass
The peanut gun, fires in spurts! If it shoots ya, it might hurt!
Lucas - Psychic/Ice
He’s Psychic! And he uses PK Frost! (And also Mother 3 is apparently really weird and Lucas has a bad time, which based on the vibes of I feel like Ice just fits the chilling nature.)
Sonic - Electric
Regieleki has the highest base Speed stat of all Pokémon.
King Dedede - Fighting/Flying
He’s big of a brute and regularly uses a gargantuan hammer. Then he has a decent amount of air-based powers and can float!
Olimar/Alph - Grass/Bug
Okay, this typing is mostly for the Pikmin. They’re little plant creatures! (And this is the only place I could feasibly squeeze in the Bug-type. Spoilers that nobody else uses it.)
R.O.B. - Steel
He’s a robot. Beep boop.
Toon Link - Fairy/Water
Water might seem like a bit of an odd choice, but Toon Link is primarily known for his appearance in Wind Waker where the entire world is covered in ocean. (Flying would probably make more sense for the Wind Waker, but I want more Water-types and I want my boy to be unique!)
Wolf - Dark
He’s a bad guy. And reminds me of Mightyena.
Villager - Normal
Literally just a guy.
Mega Man - Steel/Electric
He’s a robot with energy powers!
Wii Fit Trainer - Normal/Fighting
Just a guy, but fit!
Rosalina & Luma - Psychic/Fairy
A space princess and a literal star.
Little Mac - Fighting
He’s just Hitmonchan.
Mii Fighters - Normal
You *could* give a different type to each Fighter, but I don’t want to!
Palutena - Psychic/Flying
Lots of Mythical and Legendary Pokémon are Psychic-type. And since she’s the reason Pit can fly, she gets the Flying-type I didn’t give him!
Pac-Man - Ghost
He’s weak to ghosts but also strong against them!
Robin - Electric/Psychic
Things I know about Robin: lightning book, probably scholarly. And in Pokémon bring smart of clever means you’re a Psychic-type!
Shulk - Psychic
He can see the future and has a mystical sword with fantastical properties.
Bowser Jr/Koopalings - Dragon/Normal
Not quite at the fire-breathing part guys.
Dunk Hunt - Normal/Flying
A dog and a bird.
Ryu - Fighting
I promise this isn’t solely because he’s from another fighting game.
Ken - Fighting/Fire
“So, you wanna fight fire with fire, huh?”
Cloud - Steel/Poison
Things I know about Cloud: the buster sword is *incredibly* important to him. Things I know about Final Fantasy XII: Mako is basically radioactive and Cloud gets too much exposure to it.
Corrin - Water/Dragon
They’re a water dragon. Didn’t even bother looking at the wiki for this one.
Bayonetta - Dark/Fairy
She’s like the midway point of good and evil in her world, right?
Inkling - Poison/Ground
Damaging and sticking ink? Poison. Has an obsession with ground coverage and control? Ground! (Also it means they’re weak to Water!)
Ridley - Dark/Dragon
*Extremely* evil dragon.
Meta Ridley - Dark/Steel
Now he’s cybernetic!
Simon - Steel/Fighting
Iron often represents cleansing and purity in medieval times, so a vampire-hunter would need that. Then he’s tough and strong.
Richter - Steel/Fighting
Exact same reasons as Simon.
King K. Rool - Water/Steel
He’s a reptilian pirate! Sounds like a Water-type to me. Then he’s got a big ol’ gold stomach(?) and crown.
Isabelle - Normal
Just a sweetheart.
Piranha Plant - Grass/Poison
Carnivore may be a pure Grass-type, but Piranha Plant is a bit meaner.
Joker - Ghost/Dark
I have played through Persona 5 Royal three separate times. He’s a Phantom Thief and Arsène uses Curse moves.
Hero - Fairy/Grass
I know the main Hero is known as the Luminary, and a cursory glance over the Dragon Quest wiki says Luminaries are chosen by the World Tree. Light is Fairy and a tree is Grass!
Banjo-Kazooie - Normal/Flying
Okay, this has a *tiny* bit more than Dunk Hunt. In Pokémon Normal qualifies as the Sound-type, so these note-collectors get the Normal-type! (And Kazooie is a bird.)
Terry - Fire/Ground
Uhhh he punches the ground and makes firey effects. No research needed!
Byleth - Ghost/Fire
*Definitely* needed the wiki for this knucklehead. Apparently Byleth died after being born (I think) and was revived by the Crest of Flames. (Also they die another time but also don’t die then? I’ve looked at enough Fire Emblem wiki articles!)
Min Min - Dragon/Grass
One of her ARMs is a dragon! Then she cares greatly for her family’s noodle shop, so grass because of what noodles are made of. (Water could also work, but Grass matches her color palette!)
Steve/Alex - Ground/Rock
Dig ground. Build rocks. (Sorry, I don’t actually play Minecraft. I’m a Terraria person.)
Zombie - Ghost
He dead!
Enderman - Dark/Psychic
Spooky nocturnal creature with ethereal powers such as teleportation.
Sephiroth - Dark/Poison & Flying/Poison
He’s evil and Mako (among other things) have *messed* him up. Dark switches to Flying for his One-Winged Angel form! (And his other insane form.)
Pyra & Mythra - Fire & Electric
Fire sword and lightning sword.
Kazuya - Fighting/Dragon
He’s a tough fighter who also has a devil(?) form. Looks close enough to a dragon for me.
Sora - Fairy/Flying
He’s a good and sweet boys who floats around! (Also I think there’s a weird cloud scene in Kingdom Hearts 3? It works.)
