Plot: Sometimes it’s harder to teach a young dog new tricks.

That’s why werewolves embark on a Howling: a three-year rite of passage in which they’re sent to a group residence to wrestle with their wolfy instincts and assimilate into the Wider World. But Tanner Araya’s Howling is almost over, and he could be called back to his remote pack at any moment. His twenty-first birthday might be his last chance to act on his strongest instinct and finally kiss Chase Denney.

Chase is RA at the Howling residence affectionately dubbed “the Doghouse,” and he takes his job seriously. So seriously that when he realized he was developing feelings for a resident, he forced himself to keep Tanner at a distance. But now that Tanner’s twenty-one, he’s not Chase’s charge any longer. They could be friends or—if Chase is lucky—something more. At least until they both return to their home packs for good, as tradition demands.

It would take a miracle for them to get together—especially when the other Doghouse werewolves insist on “helping.”

10/10 on the Rainbow Scale™ 🌈: Time for some puppy love ❤️ Honestly, I'm surprised it took us this long to get to the werewolves 😂😂😂 They seem to be the most popular creatures when it comes to paranormal romance, up there with vampires. Luckily there's no A/B/O nor knotting, or I would have thrown the book out of the window (no offence if you like those things, it's just not for me). The Doghouse pack are the most adorable rascals we've encountered so far and I want to adopt every single one of them (but especially my baby Jordan). Tanner and Chase are cute as hell too. There's also a nice mystery to unfold and the ending managed to surprise me (which doesn't happen very often, I'm a mystery junkie).

Queer Reviews: E.J. Russell, "Witch under Wraps" (Mythmatched World #8).

CW: explicit sexual content, mention's of past genocide, genocide related trauma, survivor's guilt, blood and sickness

Plot: When Ky Hernández bonded with his familiar, Zuri, his life changed forever. Their connection turned him into a practicing witch and led him to his calling as a medimagical professional. However, it totally tanked his love life—what guy would settle for eternal second place behind a parrot? So Ky keeps his witchy nature under wraps and sticks to hookups with humans, which can never go anywhere. But the mouthwatering barista at the coffee shop next door makes him thirst for more than a caffeine fix.

The charms Ewan Jones uses to appear human are inconvenient, disorienting, and . . . necessary. Ewan and his siblings are achubyddion, metaphysical healers whose powers are coveted by unscrupulous supernatural beings. And let’s face it: all supes are unscrupulous, given the right incentive. He’s grateful for the protections that hide his little family, and for the barista job that keeps them housed and fed. He’s just so lonely. And his regular, Ky, the super-hot, commitment-averse EMT, seems like the perfect candidate for a one-night shot at intimacy. After all, humans are no threat.

It takes a clumsy coffee shop intern, a mysterious werewolf epidemic, and one snarky parrot to unravel their pasts—and give them a chance at a future.

10/10 on the Rainbow Scale™ 🌈: don't you guys hate miscommunication as a trope? BECAUSE I DO 😭😭😭 so much shit could be avoided if people just TALKED TO EACH OTHER. Jokes aside, I understand that Ewan and his family cut themselves off from the supe community when they went into hiding, but hearing them talk about Alun like he's a monster and the fact that they were still living in fear because they didn't know they didn't have to anymore was heartbreaking. Bonus points for my babies Jonathan and David being there.

Queer Reviews: E.J. Russell, "The Hound of the Burgervilles" (Quest Investigations #2, A Mythmatched Spinoff).

CW: mildly graphic violence, mentions of domestic abuse, child abuse, in-world racism (against humans)

Plot: After I try a little off-the-books interrogation to locate my selkie almost-boyfriend’s nearly-ex-husband (don’t ask, it’s complicated), I’m in the doghouse again with my bosses, who bust me back to surveillance. Ugh. So when another human inexplicably storms into Quest Investigations—something our security spells ought to prevent since I’m supposed to be the only human admitted to our offices—I’m reduced to staking out local fast food restaurants to check out the guy’s alleged sighting of a giant, glowing-eyed, dumpster-diving spectral hound.

Ridiculous, right? Humiliating, too, not to mention boring. But at least they didn’t fire me.

Imagine my surprise when there actually is a giant, glowing-eyed, dumpster-diving spectral hound—one of the Cwn Annwn, Herne the Hunter’s traitor-tracking dog pack, to be exact. Jeez, who let this dog out? It’s my case, though, so it’s up to me—Matt Steinitz, aka Hugh Mann—to return him to Faerie. But while Herne’s normally hopping kennels are inexplicably unpopulated by pups, they’re playing host to one extremely dead body.

Uh oh. Looks like someone’s bite was a lot worse than their bark.

Guess my love life will have to take a back seat again while we nose out the truth.

Dammit.

10/10 on the Rainbow Scale™ 🌈: Someone needs to give my boy Matt a raise. Seriously, he doesn't get paid enough for all the bullshit he has to deal with. A few familiar faces pop back out. Jordan is my baby and must be protected at all costs. Also, Lachlan and Matt give a whole new definition to the term "slowburn". Hope you're ready for a looooong wait, because these two morons aren't going anywhere, at least not presently. The mystery was incredibly engaging and kept me hooked until the end.

The vast majority of by women do not try to be openly bisexual while dating men LMAO

have you ever like. talked to a bisexual before? like, had an actual, real-life conversation?

because if you had, you'd know that the MINUTE you as a (presumably) queer person vocally assume that they're straight, most of them will, in fact, inform you that they are bisexual. Unless of course you are as blatantly biphobic as this ask is, in which case they will probably just tell you to fuck off (as they should).

Personally, I have met a lot of bisexual women. Within our first conversation, almost all of them mentioned to me that they also liked girls, even if they were already dating a man at the time. Hell, I myself used to identify as bisexual before I realized I was a lesbian, and I always made sure to let other queer people I met know that I was into women too, even while I was still dating men. I don't know any out bisexual women who pretend to be hetero. The only ones who pretend to be straight are those who are still deep in the closet - which, newsflash, is not exclusive to bisexuals. Closeted lesbians and gay men do that too.

Like, bisexual people who are in relationships with opposite sex partners will more often than not go out of their way to make sure people know they are bi because they don't want to experience erasure. Erasure which is in part perpetuated by people like you, anon.
