         A grunted exhale,  why does the reincarnate of Odin hesitate so?  This should come second nature; to destroy.  It's demolition is in the name, that of    LIGHTNING.    However, to take an innocents soul? For what?    TO GUIDE UNTO SALVATION?    Is this  God's  will, or her own? Does she care so little for herself    &.    those she's slain, to do away with lives in order to protect from this chaos?    FOCUS.    It's her saying, when going gets hot;  she breathes in.  Steady.  Saving as many as she can before the end of days, that's her new purpose. She'd grant the wish of those are so  willing.  It's unlike the savior, someone who's always taken charge of    HER OWN    plans, now the God's servant - an obedient pet.  A case of dejavu, isn't it?

         ❛ ❛  This may hurt, if only for a second. Are you sure?  ❜ ❜          Hesitance remains, there could be many more things  Paine  sought to do before her inevitable end. Eyes of crystals fixate on the other, blade drawn    &.    tip pointed to the chest. There's a sadness that seeps through, though didn't it always? Bittersweet to this symphony of tales. Bhunivelze sings in her ears, an act of comfort in these actions    ...    Waiting just  one  more second won't hurt, would it?

         Such feelings are a luxury none should hold on to - not when those who seek to    CONTAIN    &.    DESTROY    are hot on their trails. However, soldier finds herself slipping;  that cold act  breaking through cracks in a steel exterior. Acts of romance    &.    affections weren't something she ever needed, not when taking care of what family's left have been at stake. Perhaps this is why she grew to hate someone like  him,  taking away what was hers. Disrupting the peace between two sisters, it was always    THEM    against the world    ...    How hypocritical Lightning's become. Gloved fingers come to cover maw;  massaging cheeks to due away with a  forbidden smile  forming from curled lips. Brows crease, as they do, in attempt at showcasing    ANNOYANCE.

         ❛ ❛  They might not be    ...    have to keep our guards up, Fang. They're gonna catch us, probably ridicule me for being such a sap - I'm supposed to be  focused.    &.    yet?  I'm here, fawning over  you  in the shadows     ...    Sorry. I'm just stressed.  ❜ ❜         Crystalized eyes bring themselves to look at the dragoon; dim lit room reflecting off hues, causing them to shine    &.    mimic that of something nocturnal. Lightning  does  feel regret in her words, as if    ASHAMED    to have fallen in love with someone. A conflict of emotions    &.    duties clash with one another. It's embarrassing, unable to pinpoint just exactly  how  she's supposed to react. How to treat her partner.

         This is her first real go around with a situation like this    ...    The only thing she  is  sure of, is that those feelings are there. Despite it all.

& It's so easy to tell how flustered she is — that bite tends to come out when she's grown embarrassed , bashful in the face of the playful confidence Fang carries . The tint of pink on Light's cheeks prompts a sly smile , a quirked brow challenging Lightning's protests .

' And where's the fun in that ? ' Her form slouches against the wall , curled knuckle falling to rest against hip . ' What's wrong , Light ? Getting under your skin ? You can drop the cold act , y'know . Everyone else is asleep . '

         Hate is too far strong a word that fits the piece to someone like Lightning,  during these final days. Something  mournful,  rather filled servant's chest. Nothing unlike the souls consumed    &.    protected;  instead a commodity of sorrow - a child of one such self who got forced away. To be forgotten    &.    tucked away in the darkest depths of the mind,  she shouldn't be here.  Yet? God had his own ways of antagonizing the warrior. Putting a face so similar to that of her deceased sister    &.    twist the knife until she bled out    &.    broke down - do the bidding of    HIS    will.

         Only then, could they reunite.

         Lightning watched this figure dance    &.    twirl around, chaos swarming both bodies. Speaking    NONSENSE    with every encounter, the hand of the snake coiled itself around blade's handle;  prepared for a  fight  if need be. It's strange, the way a lump becomes  stuck  in her throat    &.    unable to form words of her own.    IS THIS FEAR?    IS THIS COWARDICE?     Such phenomenons didn't present themselves since her teenage years;  since her parents died.  More questions swarmed the savior's mind!  It's become all too unbearable as time goes on!

         Grit the teeth, focus    &.    bite back!

         Grip tightens, her muscles can once more move freely;  no longer frozen in time    &.    consumed with the impending doom. Browse crease, eyes of crystalized blue fixate on the rosy haired girl, a grunt    &.    click of the tongue.         ❛ ❛  Hate isn't the right word - more like  annoying.  What the hell do you want? Who    ARE    you?  ❜ ❜         MAKING DEMANDS OF HER OWN,  surely not to be answered any time soon. However, anything is betting than  nothing    &.    standing with the tail tucked between her legs.

I forgot to mention this, but Cl*ire is a dead name to Lightning & she doesn't want it to be given out or used on herself if someone happens to know it. The name itself gives her an ick that she can't quite shake. So, don't refer to her as such.

         Stubborn behavior ran in the family - being a core attribute to Lightning's independence; a suitable candidate for the Guardian Corps. Her sheer determination, one track mind    &.    anger all grouped grouped into the same hand that wields her blade; it's what lead her to this mess. Pushing aside her only family, just to become  branded    &.    to eventually become some grotesque    MONSTROSITY,    if their focus isn't fulfilled.

         Brows crease, listening to someone who once worked alongside her on the force be so  sympathetic.  A tinge of annoyance, though that's just her own emotions getting in the way. Despite burying them deep below, some how they  continue  to get in the way.    &.    there's a click of the tongue, resting gloved hand along side a somewhat exposed him 'fore taking a few steps forward - just to turn around    &.    bring icy blue gaze to the Kiramman.

         ❛ ❛  Right    ...    You can stay close    &.    stay out of my way on top of it. I know you're  capable,  just don't get yourself killed. We don't need    MORE    bullshit to happen to us, yeah?  ❜ ❜

Lightning is , by all means , correct to advise this : despite the facts that have been entrusted to her , she knows little of why or what this ... fal'Cie is — the gravity of what it means to be branded . It is easy to say what she would do differently , easy to say Lightning acted out , but ... she's no idea of Serah nor the bond between sisters .

Rather than give a hasty , careless reply , Caitlyn falls silent . Perhaps she would fail to believe it , too , were own relative to become something so feared . After some consideration , she gives a nod — holds back any further criticism previously voiced .

' You're right . I can't imagine what you were feeling . ' Another pause — uncertain of how to smooth over the tension . ' I don't know what may help , but ... is there anything I can do ? '

Lightning will generally be the same Lightning you see through the series, with really the only difference (for my version) is that she's a reincarnation of Odin & this is why Odin had become her summon in the first game. I will be making HC posts the further along I go, but at a much later date. :)

         &.    as instructed, the warrior looks upward. Taking in such scenery of creamy-white    &.    a plane or two soaring across    ...    the warmth of a dusk falling sun nearly  sparkles  on pale skin, shining on silver metal armor. It's almost blinding, though feels  freeing.  To have the pleasure of being in a moment of calm before a storm soon approaches;  living in a moment to last forelong. Lips stretch into a smile - one so    GENUINE    her muscles ached, it's been  too long  since having such emotion overwhelm her chest. To be with her sister, peacefully like this, is all she'd ever wanted    &.    fought for.

         However, concepts like this  don't stay.  A sky once so full of hope    &.    rainbows, soon become  gloom,  become doom.  A mirage of the sister so loved    &.    desperate to reunite with fades - nothing short of an apparition formed from one's mind.

         Her smile fades.

         Rain pours, harshly connecting with the same armor that basked itself in sun;  now rusted    &.    so very worn.

         Odin made a noise, that of which horses do when checking on their rider    &.    clanking their hooves against rubble    &.    ash. God reincarnate looked to him, a silent reassurance that she'd be  fine.

          ❛ ❛  Too much time's been wasted already    ...    I know.  ❜ ❜         A response stern    &.    filled with frustration. The pair would take off, fighting yet another battle in hopes to become  one step closer  to being with her family once more. This time, swearing not to let Serah slip between her grasp again.
