——— mia is present, for the most part. she meets people from the trip occasionally. reads the messages in the group chat once they reach a certain number but only because if she waits longer, she’ll have far too many to go through and it’s not like she’s all that interested in the first place. but in all her attendance, outside from the mandatory dinners, not once has she seen or hung out with alec. that’s why such an occasion of them being alone is worth a moment to recognize as she watches him sit on the opposite side. but she doesn’t dwell on it. she’s about to move her eyes somewhere else when he speaks. there is a soft sigh at the mere thought of how much energy she’ll exhaust just to answer. she feels entirely too tired – has been for a while. but as she readies herself to reply, a question comes her way which catches her off guard. ‘ i suppose? haven’t really paid attention to it if i’m honest. ’ hasn’t paid attention to much at all, is more like it. ‘ you don’t have to make small talk, ’ she lets him know.
Alec didn’t know what he was expecting really, he had spoken before his brain caught up with what he was saying and now the blond realized he may have made things even more awkward. “Mhm, it was raining earlier. I’m glad it stopped.”He said, nodding in acknowledgement at what she said next. Alec took that as a sign that Mia didn’t want to talk and stayed quiet. Picking up his phone, he texted Moon asking his friend what was taking him so long. Alec got distracted by replying to a few texts before he realized something. “I think this is the first time we’re talking since...” He stopped himself, biting down on his bottom lip in a nervous manner. “Sorry.” Alec said, looking down for a moment.

“ mhm, ” ace nodded along, not acknowledging alec’s sluggish words enough to give a genuine response. as funny as it seemed to him then, there were plenty of times where ace had found himself in similar situations. getting so drunk that you just kind of give up and power down wherever your legs take you — those were some of his best and worst memories. he reached out to the other boy’s arm before helping him sit up, knowing the longer he let him lay there, the more difficult it’d be to get him back to his room. “ a piggyback ride ? ” ace asked with an obvious look of disapproval, “ no i’m not going to give you a piggyback ride all the way to your room. ” he took note of the pout that the younger offered and responded with a faint scoff. “ and stop pouting, i told you that doesn’t work on me. so let’s just get up and go. i know you’re not that drunk. ” though he could have fooled anyone with the way he denied the other’s eye contact. because pouting, in fact, did work on him and ace refused to give in if he could help it.
Alec let his friend help him sit up, frowning a bit as he felt a migraine coming. He didn’t get hangovers often, but when he did they were pretty strong. “Thanks. Do you happen to have tylenol upstairs? My head hurts.” He said softly before looking up at Ace. “I never said it was all the way to my room! You just assumed that on your own. I’d have settled for one to the evelator.” Alec explained, still pouting a bit before he sighed in defeat. “Yeah, you did. But I don’t think that’s true.” Was said in a playful tone before Alec grabbed his phone and checked the time. “Why are you up so early by the way?” He questioned, letting out another yawn before taking Ace’s arm as a support to help him get up. “Fine, I’m going. Oh, wait. Should I apologize to the her first?” The last part was whispered before he motioned the receptionist with his head.

to most people, finding your friend heavily intoxicated and passed out in a hotel lobby may have been a slightly concerning sight. though ace just couldn’t help but fall to the humor it taunted as he approached the other. “ alec, dude, ” he leaned forward before slightly shaking his shoulder. “ god, moon really didn’t take you into consideration when giving out rooms with the most privacy, did he ? ” he joked. though after earning so much as no response, he tried another shove, this time a little harder. once alec finally displayed a sign of consciousness, ace grinned, bending even lower so he was now squatting before the other. “ we gotta get you to your room, man. there’s no way the staff is okay with you camping out here. so come on, up we go before they kick you out into the street. ”
Alec opened his eyes slowly, still half asleep and just stared at Ace with a confused look on his features. Took him a while to fully understand where he was and why so he just listened quietly as Ace spoke to try and make sense of the situation. “But the recepcionist said I could stay and even covered me with a warm blanket.” The blond started to say, only to look around him and realize there was no blanket in sight. “Or maybe that was a dream.” He pondered, before letting out a small yawn. “Okay, we can go. But I'm too tired to walk. Can I get a piggyback ride?” He asked, sending Ace his best puppy dog look.

✧ ˖ ・゚ ❝ honestly , the only real plans i made today were to lay out by the pool until it got dark and then go see what everyone else was up to later tonight ❞ isaac slid himself back up the lounge chair so he was in more of a sitting position, a smile tugging on the edge of his lips as he watched his friend. it was true, since landing in amsterdam and even the few days leading up to the trip he hadn’t seen much of alec at all despite living in the same hotel less then 100 feet from each other. with everything that had been happening in his other friends lives isaac did feel like he was running around picking up the pieces, not leaving a lot of time for himself. so a day spent with alec sounded like exactly what he needed. ❝ i’m gonna make you make an appointment if you keep splashing me ❞ isaac tried to keep the serious look on his face but only lasted for a few moments before it broke, his usual wide grin taking its place. ❝ when did you wanna leave? i just have to get changed but other than that i’m ready to go! ❞
“Good, I’m excited to go explore the city! Maybe we could rent bikes and cycle for a while after? Take some pictures too, while we’re at it.” Alec suggested, grinning. He was glad to be able to spend the day with Isaac now, it seemed like they both needed some time to relax and just have fun together. Laughing softly, he sent Isaac a mischievous glance before using his hand to splash water on him one more time. “Okay, this was the last time I promise!” Alec exclaimed, still laughing a bit. “But even if I had to make an appoitment and wait for my turn, I would. It'd be worth it. And whenever you’re ready, really. I just need to get my wallet in my room and then we’re set to go.”

After staying up all night, or most of it Alec was tired and sleepy. Also still really drunk. Stumbling back into the hotel's lobby, he sat down on one of the couches. “Don’t have the energy to go to my room, I’m gonna sleep right here okay?” Alec said to the receptionist behind her desk. She was on the phone at the moment and didn’t really listen but he took that as a sign it should be okay. “It’s really comfy, actually.” He said more to himself than anything else as he laid down on the couch. Closing his eyes, he feel asleep quickly only waking up hours later as he heard a familiar voice coming from somewhere near him. “You're speaking too loud, it's making my headache worse." Alec complained, with his eyes still closed.

a soft smile briefly showed up over his lips as he reassured the other “ no, we can’t and won’t be arrested for this. it’s not only legal here, we’re also inside the coffee shop that just sold it to me and everyone is having haxixe brownies. “ he tapped the perfectly rolled blunt against the wood of the table, shaking his head “ this trip was supposed to be healing and we’re two days in and i’m tired, broken and wishing to throw myself into the river. right now ? nothing to do. “ his shoulders shrink in a small shrug before he holds the stick between his lips and lights it up “ to be honest with you, i’m not sure what we fought about either. it was strange but heartbreaking and i hated it. “ his eyes, like usual, would avoid the person who was aiding him and he shrugs again, shaking his head “ doesn’t matter now. and it’s not like i’m sad now, but it got to me how haneul was the only one to reach out to me. i knew isaac was busy with ivy but still. “ he shrugs once more, definitely still hurt about it.
Alec was able to relax as Moon reassured him that they weren’t doing anything illegal. “Good, I’ll have a haxixe brownie too then. When in Amsterdam, right?” He said in a playful tone before calling a waiter over and ordering it. Hearing that his friend had been so miserable made Alec really sad. Moon had carefully planned this whole trip, gathered everyone together and did his best to assure that all involved would have a great time. He should be enjoying it was well.“I’m honestly really sorry to heat that, Moonie. If anyone deserved to have great fucking time here it was you. When we get back to the hotel you’re getting some rest. I’ll tuck you into your bed if I have to, but you’re taking a nap. It’ll help at least a little bit. Then when you’ll well rested and calm try talking to Ivy again. Whatever the fight was about, m’ sure you two can fix it. She must be feeling pretty bad about it too.” Alec replied, looking over at his friend. Hearing that Haneul was there for Moon when he wasn’t, made a frown appear on his features, before he looked down for a moment. “Even though I still don’t trust him, I’m glad you had someone on your side in a time like this. But to be fair, I don’t think anyone else really knew about what happened?“ His brownied arrived in that moment, and Alec took a small bite before looking up at Moon again. “Like I said before, you can always come to me.”

Taking one last look into the mirror, Alec fixed his hair with his hands before deciding he was ready. The group was going out for dinner that night and had agreed to meet at the lobby at 8 p.m. Glancing down at his phone screen, the blond saw that he was five minutes late and quickly grabbed his wallet and threw on a black jacket. As he got down to the lobby, however, he was quick to notice that the only one already there was Mia. Bitting down on his bottom lip, he walked over and took a seat on a couch opposite the one she was at. Alec stayed silent for a moment, glancing at the elevator and internally hoping someone else would arrive. Ever since they landed on Amsterdam, he had successfully tried to stay away from the youngest Yu sibling. Because, well, he didn’t think she’d want to be around him anyway. Feeling Mia’s eyes on him now, Alec thought it’d be rude not to say anything, so he did. “Thought I’d be the last one to get here. I hope they don’t take too long, I’m hungry.” He said quietly, with a small smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Uh, anyways the weather is nice today, isn’t it?” @aimuy

✧ ˖ ・゚ isaac didn’t realize he had fallen back asleep until the sound of alec’s voice nearby shook him awake causing him to sit up rather suddenly, his phone sliding off of his chest and onto the seat of the lounge chair just beside his leg. ❝ not as cold as you’d think ❞ he responded with a grin, using his free hand to push the fallen hair off of his forehead ❝ it’s actually not terrible as long as the sun is out but i don’t get cold very easily so i may not be the best judge of temperature. ❞ the mention of shopping made a grin begin to form on his face, tugging at the corners of his lips. if there was one way to get isaac off of his ass when he was relaxing it was to take him shopping and alec knew that. ❝ you already know the answer to that question so why even ask? ❞
“Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you.” Alec said softly as he watched his friend's reaction. “But that's good to know, I might try it later.” Putting on his sunglasses on as the sunlight started hitting his face, he walked closer to the pool and crouched down to dip his hand in the water and feel the temperature. “The water's not too cold either.” A warm smile made way into his features as he heard Isaac's reply. “Well, I didn't know if you had made other plans already. Everyone seems to want to get their Isaac time on while we're were, kinda feels like I need to make an appointment just to see you.” He said in a playful tone, while using his wet hand to slapsh a bit of water on his friend.

“ so as i was saying “ he adds as he sits down, leaning back on his chair. he’s not sure how he convinced alec to come to a coffeeshop with him, but the The Clown was such an ironic name and was just a few meters away from their hotel, so for some caffeine sake and weed sake, he needed to come here. his digits, already way too experienced with these types of things, quickly rolled up freshly bought grass as he spoke, the scent of blunts and caffeine numbing his exhausted brain “ there is nothing to do now. just sayin’, i really needed you last night but i gotta stop wishful thinking and waiting for people to just know when i need them, ya know ? “
When thet fist got to Amsterdam, Alec didn't get to spend much time with Moon, both of them having ended up picking different friends and activities to pass time with but after the second day, the blond had noticed his friend seemed quiet whenever they talked or Moon responded on the groupchat and so, Alec reached out to him. They decided to check the coffee shop nearby and now, here they were, Alec sipping on his expresso as he listened to his friend telling him he had a fight with Ivy. “What do you mean there's nothing to do? You two clearly need to sit down and talk! And fix things, Moon. You can't leave it like that. Why did you guys even fight in the first place?” Alec questioned, biting down on lis bottom lip as he heard what Moon said next. “Well, you could've come to my room, Moonie. I wasn't really doing anything. I could tell Ivy seemed upset when I helped them with the bags but I didn't know what happened. I'm sorry. Should've checked on you after that.” Alec said, looking over at Moon, watching him finish rolling up the blunts. "You sure we can't arrested for this , right?” Alec asked his friend, before taking a quick look around the place, like he fully expected cops to show up anytime.

✧ ˖ ・゚ isaac had spent a majority of his first day in amsterdam out by the hotel pool, trying to let his jet-lagged body rest for a bit before he forced it to go out and explore the city in a few hours. while it wasn’t necessarily warm enough for him to be lounging outside in his swim trunks that was where he found himself. the buzzing of a phone close by roused isaac from the nap he hadn’t totally planned on taking; his hand shot out and lightly felt around the lounge chair before he located his phone slid his thumb across the bottom to unlock it. isaac didn’t even bother looking to see who it was that had texted him, asking his whereabouts before typing in a quick reply and letting his phone fall to his chest again. if they really needed him they knew where to find him.
Alec didn’t get much sleep in the plane trip to Amsterdan, so he allowed himself to sleep a bit more the next day. He missed the hotel’s breakfast hours but by the time he got up, it was almost lunch time. He decided to go out for lunch at a nearby restaurant he had spotted the day before on their way to the hotel. Once the blond got back, Alec got bored pretty quickly and decided to text Isaac to see what he was up to. Upon getting a reply, he made his way to the pool to talk to him. “Aren’t you cold out here?” Alec asked, taking a seat on one of the lounge chairs nearby. “What are your plans for later? I was thinking about going shopping, would you like to come with?”

haneul nearly dropped his phone in surprise, an eyebrow quirking up as he recognized alec. it’d been a long time since they’d seen each other, liam’s breakup being a distant memory in his mind. he honestly didn’t think their paths would ever cross again, but he figured moon hadn’t been too picky when deciding who to write the letters to. ‘ ah ! did moonie decide to do some charity work & allow ex boyfriends on this trip ? how nice of him, he has such a kind soul. i can’t wait to have you there. ’
Alec had left home early, as soon as he finished getting ready. He figured Moon and the others would already be at the airport once he got there but it seemed as luck wasn’t on his side that day as instead he was met with Haneul. Clenching his jaw at hearing the remark, the blond told himself to calm down, this trip haven’t even started yet. He didn’t need to start a fight now. “He must’ve really done so if he invited you. Just of the top of my head I can think of at least three more people who wouldn’t be too happy about seeing you here. Wonder why. Have you heard from Moon, by the way? It seems we’re the first ones here and I’m sure neither of us really want to waste time with small talk.”

ace felt the tip of his tongue press smoothly against the side of his teeth before allowing the rest of his drink down his throat. he was well aware of alec and liam’s relationship, as well as the many other people the latter was involved with. but even then, he never cared to picture it. not that he was jealous or anything — no, never that. “ nobody here likes anyone, ” the boy spoke honestly. “ they just pretend to until it no longer benefits them. ” though there were a few people that made the cut in opposition to what he spoke, ace truly believed in the bad of everyone. he always had. “ nice, ” he repeated after alec with a breathy laugh. there was a small shake of his head before he allowed the other to fill his glass. “ i’ll definitely cherish that thought while you still have it. ” the pair raised their drinks, filled glasses clinking together in an empty celebration. ace knew deep down everyone was merely diving headfirst into shallow water with this road trip. even himself. “ we can certainly try, ” he agreed halfly, “ and thanks. i think i’ll stick with the drinks though. you’d probably appreciate it if it stayed that way too. ”
“That’s not entirely true. I mean take Isaac for one, I’m pretty sure he likes every single one of us and doesn’t have second intentions. Besides, that sounds like too much effort, having to see people you can't stand constantly and pretend you like them.” From his own experience Alec wouldn't usually engage with the part of Liam's friends that he shared a mutual dislike with, unless he didn't had a choice. Like it would happen soon, during the trip. “Well, you're always been nice to me. Or at least, most of the time. But then again, we're usually drunk when we talk so..." He teased, chuckling a bit. “Alright, just thought I should still offer. Have you started packing yet?" Alec asked as he finished his drink.
