“I-” Remus paused, rubbing at his temples as a sigh escaped his lips. “You know that made no sense whatsoever, right? I can’t even begin to tell you how flawed that logic is. Besides, it’s far too early for this.” A yawn escaped his lips as he rubbed at his eyes. He was seriously considering ditching and going back to his dorm at this current point at time.
Cosette noticed the yawn and felt bad, she knew what it was like to be tired so early. Although it was her own fault for staying up too late looking at the stars. She walked over when the other person had left him alone and opened a tin she kept in her bag. “Espresso chocolate? I charmed them myself to give an extra caffeine boost.”Â

He flinched slightly, caught off guard when she withdrew her wand. It seemed that they were both on edge for their own reasons, but he raised his hands to show that he didn’t mean her any harm. “Sorry… I just… I wanted to talk to you. Is everything okay?” Declan asked genuinely. The war was starting to get more and more tense and there was reasons all around for people to have their walls up. But he did care about Cosette and her well-being even if they weren’t together. “I’m alright I guess. I’ve just been trying to lay low I suppose. There’s been a lot going on. We could catch up if you want. If you have time that is.”
“Yeah, I’d like that,” Cosette smiled and nodded. Being alone for the holidays after what had happened made her grateful to have him there now, someone she felt comfortable talking to. “Why don’t we get a table at the Three Broomsticks? I could use a butterbeer right now,” she laughed quietly, leading the way until they sat down. “So you’ve had a lot going on? I’m sorry I didn’t hear about it, I would have come to see you sooner,” she smiled apologetically. “I was actually in the hospital wing for a bit before break started, Madame Pomfrey is a miracle worker,” she noted as she flexed her previously injured hand.Â

“Quidditch always gives me an adrenaline rush,” she said, taking Cosette’s hands and twirling them both around in place. “I don’t think I could sleep if I wanted to! Where are we going to celebrate? I think we’re over due for some cake and wine–or at least some butterbeer, right?”
Cosette shrieked and laughed as they spun around and she tried not to loose her footing. “Woah, I don’t want to feel this dizzy unless it’s from butterbeer anyways. Do you have any bottles?” she laughed as she slowed them down and caught her breath. “I could definitely use some liquid celebration. And some sweets, definitely those too!”Â

With everything that was going on, Declan needed some fresh air to clear his head. He had spent too much time brooding in his dorm like a stereotypical Slytherin. There was the mystery of who cursed him alongside the new information that Evan had presented him with. It was too much for him to process all at once, so he made his way to Hogsmeade looking for a good distraction. As if right on cue, he recognized Cosette instantly in the crowd. They hadn’t spoken since the night of the victory party and the quidditch pitch rendezvous. It wasn’t that he hadn’t enjoyed himself. He fully intended on seeing her again but had gotten sidetracked between finals and the drama that recently flooded his life. Determined to make things right, he walked up and tapped her on the arm. “Hey there. Long time no see.”
Being out alone was hard for Cosette, but she refused to let someone else force her to hide. Although to be on the safe side, she opted to come to Hogsmeade in broad daylight to do a bit of shopping and hopefully see some friends she hadn’t seen since her recovery. She was looking at a few little trinkets for sale when she felt a tap on her arm, and instantly she froze. Filling with panic, she spun around quickly and pulled out her wand with her freshly healed hand. It took a couple of seconds for her to see it was Declan, and she instantly felt embarrassed as she hastily put her wand away again, smiling through the fear that was leaving her now. “Hey, wow I am so sorry. I didn’t know it was you. How are you?” she asked, her smile genuine now. She really had wished she had seen him sooner, but so much had happened since their night on the pitch.Â

As more and more people joined the party, Declan found himself moving closer and closer to Cosette. They hadn’t really found themselves in social settings with each other. Most of their banter had been reserved for the quidditch pitch, so he found himself enjoying himself exponentially. He finished his drink and set the cup down on a nearby table. “Well, I wouldn’t mind a little one-on-one with you now. What do you say? Let’s get out of here. Have a bit of a match of our own,” he suggested with a smirk. “No one’s out at the pitch at this time of night.”
Cosette’s heartbeat sped up as he got closer to her. Had this been only a few weeks ago, she might have still had thoughts of someone else, but as time went on, her feelings changed. She flashed him a coy smile before finishing her own drink and discarding the cup, looking up at him to get his intentions from his tone. She wasn’t normally so adventurous, but she was in the mood to change that. “If this is a ploy to get me to think of you every time we’re out there...it just might work,” she laughed playfully and grabbed his hand in hers, sneaking them out and towards the pitch.Â

@blanilla
Spending the holidays with Blaise and his family was one of Cosette’s favourite things in the world. This year was even better with all the fun events planned in Hogsmeade, she just had to convince Blaise to tag along with her of course. After her being attacked so recently, she didn’t want to go anywhere alone. Hoping for the best, she pushed open the door to his room and put on the widest smile she could manage. “Come on, you won’t stay in here all day will you? Won’t you come to Hogsmeade with me? We could go on the rides, get some gifts for your parents...please?” she pleaded with her most convincing puppy eyes.Â

“What I want, is to see.. blood. Your blood.” He had a malicious glint in his eyes as he stepped closer to her. he saw her reach for her wand and laughed loudly. “You aren’t trying to use your wand on me, are you?” he sneered. “Because that would end very badly for you.” Just as he finished his sentence he had cast another curse at her, this time going for her hand – the curse was crushing the bones of her hand with enough pressure to break it. “Is that what you want, mudblood?”Â
Cosette screamed at the pain flooding her hand, instantly she tried to bring it closer to herself, all thoughts of getting to her wand gone. She barely heard his voice call her a mudblood, but dread instantly filled her at the word. She knew what typically happened when people attacked witches like her with that word. “Stop! Please!” she screamed, hoping to get anyone’s attention from however far others might be. Tears streamed down her face from the pain as she tried to drag herself away from the blonde.Â

“We wouldn’t have made it as far without you on our team, Cosette!” Daisy jogged to catch up with the other girl as they were leaving the locker room and heading back toward the castle. “Five saves–are you kidding? You were amazing out there!”
Cosette smiled wide, she was proud but tried not to take all the credit. “Oh come on, it was all of us! You guys out there, you were amazing,” she gushed. “Honestly, what a thrill. You’re coming to celebrate, aren’t you? I feel like I couldn’t sleep for hours yet,” she laughed.Â

Declan shrugged and nudged her shoulder with his own playfully. “I mean, staring at a seeker gets tiresome up until the last few minutes of the game. Where the chasers and the keepers are… that’s where the real game is. You know, speaking as a chaser myself,” he grinned as he took a sip of his own drink. There was a certain amount of respect that came with their friendly Quidditch rivalry, but it also helped that she was easy on the eyes. He couldn’t help that a female who was impressive out on the pitch instantly became more attractive to him. “It’s only too bad that we didn’t get a chance to have a match. I think I would’ve given you a run for your money.”
She was never sure whether to call him her friend or rival, because no matter how they spoke, they really did mean well. It was strange for her, being muggleborn she had been warned to be weary of the slytherins, but she had never once held anything but respect for him. She couldn’t help smiling at his justification. “Sounds like a lot of excuses to explain you having your eyes on me, but I won’t push,” she laughed. “You know, I’m disappointed in that too. How are we meant to see who is really the better player if we never get to play against each other? We might just have to play one-on-one one day to set the record straight,” she winked. She wasn’t sure she should have done that, but she could blame the excitement of the win.

Even if his own team had lost their match against Gryffindor, Declan wasn’t against going to see the other house matches. Winnie was playing seeker for Hufflepuff after all, so it was only fitting for him to be out to support. However, his eyes kept wandering to a certain blue-robed Keeper. The match had been close, and even though his sister lost, he still found himself cheering and planning to attend the Ravenclaw victory party.
It wasn’t that difficult to find her. She was thoroughly celebrating their win and rightfully so. He made his way over with two cups, offering one up to her. “Okay, even I have to admit, that was a really good match,” Declan said with a wide grin. “You looked good out there.”
Cosette couldn’t stop smiling, no matter how it hurt her cheeks, she was just too happy by her team’s amazing victory. She had been chatting with a few housemates when she noticed Declan a bit further off, coming her way with two cups in hand. She excused herself and walked toward him, preparing herself for witty banter about the game, but she was pleasantly surprised by what he said instead. She knew they were both skilled and that they knew it no matter how they teased each other, but she couldn’t remember a genuine compliment like this between them. “Thank you,” she smiled, taking the offered cup and taking a drink from it. “Are you admitting that you actually took the time to look at me while your own sister was in the same match? I’m honestly flattered by that.”Â

He grinned as she approached and crossed his arms, leaning on a nearby post. “I like to check out the competition,” Declan replied nonchalantly. “Please, as if I need your talent. I was the top scorer at our last match. But you should have known that already.”
“Well anyone can have a lucky break some time,” Cosette raised a brow and tilted her head. Of course she knew he was good, but she couldn’t very well say that out loud. “Are you saying you’ve been checking me out?” she grinned, only too happy to take his words out of context to mess with him.Â

Hugo immediately panicked as he steeped towards her. “What happened to Em?” He only became more and more anxious as she explained, not sure who would possibly have attacked her. He had kept his word. He had kept all the secrets. She was supposed to be safe. “She’ll be okay?” he squeaked. “Okay. Okay, that’s good, I should probably go see her.” He was clearly shaken as he made his way to the door with her. “Is she in pain? Is she.. does she know what happened?”Â
Cosette rested a hand on his arm sympathetically. “She’ll be ok. I’m not sure what happened, I didn’t get the chance to ask, I just brought her to Madame Pomfrey. Why don’t we both go check on her and ask?” she suggested, seeing how shaken he was she didn’t want to leave him alone. And of course she wanted to know herself what had happened. “Come on,” she said as she opened the door for him so they could go check on his sister. Her heart ached to see his family in pain.Â

Seeing Alecto with Blackthorn has pissed him off to no end and so when he saw the man the next time in the halls with the girl whom he recognized as Ravenclaw’s mudblood keeper, he was waiting for her to go away so he could have his fun with him. Except she didn’t – and he went into Flitwick’s office instead. He rolled his eyes wondering if he should wait for him to come out but then instead decided to follow his little friend as she walked down the otherwise deserted hallway. He lurked quietly behind, far enough so Flitwick wouldn’t hear a thing before he raised his wand and threw a curse at her, making her fly forward and hit the wall. @ofastronÂ
Cosette had been having a relatively good day, especially since she got to see Blaise before he met with Professor Flitwick. She was hoping he was doing alright with whatever it was going on in his life, but she was content to just be there on the sidelines until he needed her. When they went their separate ways, she decided to find a quiet spot to study, her books in hand, when out of nowhere she felt a pain in her back as she was propelled forward and slammed into the wall. Her books went flying and her ears were ringing. She tried to reach for her wand, but she just felt so dizzy she couldn’t make her hand steady. With a loose grip of her wand, she turned her head towards the source of the blast, trying to perch herself up off the floor with one arm. “What do you want?” she called out, her vision blurry.Â

Cosette had a very productive practice, at least in her opinion it was. It wasn’t until she was off the pitch that she noticed Declan there, and a smirk immediately showed on her lips as she walked over to him. “And why are you sticking so close to me lately? Hoping some of my talent rubs off on you?” she teased.Â

A grateful smile grew on his lips at her words. He was tired of trying to explain himself to people, and it was hard when he didn’t want to tell people about his secret yet. He was lucky that he had friends who were letting him take his time as needed even though it was completely unfair of him to expect this of them. “Thank you, you should know I really, really, appreciate that.” he said sincerely. “There is a lot to tell, I just don’t feel like it’s the right time yet.” And he didn’t know when it will be either but he would get there eventually.Â
Cosette smiled and gave him a shrug, she knew that sometimes it was the smallest gestures that could help the most. And he had done so much more for her ever since she got to the school. “I understand that, I’ll be around whenever you think that changes though,” she reassured him. “We can always talk about everything else in the meantime, like quidditch! I think those tips you gave me early in the summer are really helping this year.”

He started at someone’s approach, too on edge to even relax in his own common room. Benjy relaxed when his eyes landed on Cosette, her familiar face a comfort. His smile that he offered to her was weak, halfhearted. “That, uh, that obvious?” he asked, eyes darting downward. “Ever since-since the attack-I just-a bit on edge?” he tried to explain, struggling with the words.
“Don’t worry,” Cosette insisted. “It’s only because I know you. And because I’ve been feeling the same way ever since. It’s hard to imagine...Hogwarts was supposed to be the one safe place,” she nodded and lightly put a hand on his arm. “I try to remind myself there are far more people who don’t think like the ignorant death eaters, hate just always sounds louder. But we also have each other.”
