Maxwell was not familiar with Ferelden like the Hero of Ferelden must be. The archer gives him a glance before he looks back over Skyhold. He’s adjusted to the title Inquisitor now and has accepted his role in all of this now. Maxwell will not shriek from his duties now as the leader of the Inquisition, and he will do all he can to stop madness.❝ How are you faring? It’s been ten years since your plight. I do thank you for your service and assistance here. I could not ask for a better ally at the Inquisition side during such pivotal times. ❞ The Mage and Templar war were not helping the fight against Breach, Corypheus, and the demons. 

THE RIFT SPLITS THE SKY ABOVE THEM, an ominous and ever present sign of the trials laid before them. Mahariel does not envy the other man, he still carries the weight of his duties --- past and present, though he seems to wear the title ‘Herald of Andraste’ much better than he had bore that of ‘Hero of Ferelden’ at first. Thus he finds himself less hesitant after seeing how well the Inquisitor was managing, ready to be of assistance in whatever way necessary.

A trope that needs to be used more often in romantic stories is “We actually saw each other years ago, but only briefly” because it’s a similar idea to love at first sight, but DIFFERENT because you saw them, then later actually met them and then fell in love, and it implies that even before the two officially met, they left a lasting impression on the other (which is beautiful).
