Hastily, the girl attempted to hide her face, red and blotchy. Eyes swollen and nose running, it was obvious she’d been crying. Tears for a friend?? Tears for her Boss. With a poorly hidden sniffle, she turned from him, better to hide her face than risk him knowing how upset she truly was. (( The thought that he could have.. ))

Tipping her bottle back, she finished off her beer with a large gulp. It was quiet, the rest of the rooks having gone home for the night. Aside from the usual train goers, Jacob, Evie (( Agnes and the like )), there wasn’t a soul around. It was nice. She loved her fellow rooks, but only as much as she could. She’d have gone home earlier but she hardly had a home to go to. Once more, she’d gotten into a meaningful conversation with Evie-- one she hated to be having, and needed to be drunk for. “It ain’t easy to do tha’, Ms. Frye. I ain’t worth much anyway, it’s betta’ to think about otha’s ratha’ than myself.”
Jacob.
Coming from Jacob, the words were hard to hear. She had dedicated her life to the cause, ever fiber of her being to it, and through extension, to the Fryes. The notion that she could offer any less was impossible to swallow and utterly unacceptable. If she was not giving herself to London, to helping those who needed it, she was worth nothing. She was no better than the damned rich men and women who ignored the atrocious things happening on the streets-- in the slums. To value her own life, her own well being above others was not something she would ever allow to happen. (( Without this cause, who was she anyway?? )) D e f i a n t, she stood her ground, “All due respect, You’ve got no place to be commentin’ on my life and my choices.”

Disclaimer: I’m not an expert on the subject, so keep in mind that not everything will be 100% accurate. I have, however, researched this for a while, and found that a guide on such might be useful. !!! This is vocabulary that o n l y lower (mostly much lower) class characters would comprehend, let alone use.
