ezra grew up with an amazing family — the ainsworth home was rich with love and laurie often has nostalgia for his days as a child. he has a younger sister who he considers to be his best friends and greatest ally. and he’ll protect her with his life ( even though he’s well aware she’s capable of handling herself !) he’s always been described as sweet and gentle — he was praised by teachers and his parents alike for being studious, hard-working, and respectful. growing up, ezra never stepped out of line, he spent his teenage years whipping up recipes in the kitchen with his mother, his sister, and his grandmother. after high school, ezra attended princeton university for two years before he got too homesick and had to move back to california! he transferred to stanford university and earned his degree in history and got a master’s in education afterwards.

for the longest time he put his love life on the back burner, but his friends began to push him to put himself first for once. and soon, he was engaged. he thought he’d found true love and was the happiest he’d ever been, until he walked in on his fiancé cheating on him, but he told none of his loved ones. ezra has never had a high self-esteem and always loved too hard, so he blamed himself for the infidelity and agreed to stay in the relationship — things didn’t get better, his fiancé continued to cheat and finally, ezra confided in his sister who encouraged him to call the wedding off. despite the fact that this was three years ago, he feels ashamed about it all to this day. he’s still a hopeless romantic, but he fears he wasn’t cut out to be loved.

ezra is timid and doesn’t like attention being on him, but when he’s teaching, he shines! something about teaching his students to love history and to love learning takes away his fears, if only for a little while. he’s sweet and naive to a fault and doesn’t always know how to stand up for himself. he can be very sensitive, but he’s learning that it’s okay to feel and be soft and gentle in this world!

chaos — chaos wrapped up in a loopy grin, a soft heart, charm, and endless laughter — that's how cruz’s mother would describe him. there’s never silence when he’s around. the youngest of 7 children, cruz learned early on that he had to be noisy in order to not get left behind. but, despite how hard he tried — despite how loud and silly he was as a child, his parents’ focus was on his older, more successful and promising siblings. cruz was seen as nothing more than the immature youngest sibling — he had no true direction, he just loved life and loved people. to his parents, that wasn’t enough. the only place that cruz felt true worth was when he went thrifting and coordinated outfits for himself. and while his parents didn’t take his ‘hobby’ seriously, cruz did. he and his friends loved dressing up and taking pictures, pretending they were models. and that hobby stuck with him. and at age sixteen, he was signed to a small modeling agency and he fell in love with it all. his parents, however, were not impressed.

as he grew into a young adult, his parents asked questions — why hadn’t he gotten accepted into an ivy league school like his siblings? why did he choose not to go to college at all? why didn’t he have a 'real' job? did he really think modeling was going to take him far in life? the questions weighed heavily on cruz who usually paid no mind to pressure and stress. he had to get out, he had to make his family proud and so he moved to sunnydale, california three years ago after signing with a larger modeling agency. he loves what he does and he loves meeting new people, but his parents still aren't proud. so, he's made a chosen family in sunnydale! he adores people and hates being alone, so he's constantly having dinner parties and ordering pizza and inviting as many friends over as possible. when the door closes at the end of the night, and everyone is gone that loneliness creeps in.

cruz is chaos, he's irresponsible and always engaging in something reckless in order to make others laugh! he's always running late, but he has cups of coffee and a box of donuts in his hands and a sweet smile on his face to make up for it. he's essentially a child in a grown man's body!
