a marginalized person with an online presence - most often IME a Black person, a trans woman, a visibly autistic person, or a combination of the above - will catch the ire of any variety of right wing trolls, be harassed, be doxxed, have the rumor mill run on them, have revenge porn spread of them, be harassed to the end of the earth, and then be told by the people egging on the harassment to “just log off”

the problem is that there is no logging off from this kind of treatment if you are a marginalized person. you go into meatspace facing this same evil shit, it’s cut from the same cloth. i had to burn bridges with a whole friend group because they were doing this type of shit to one of my (very offline) irl friends.

A nonbinary child was murdered recently and I’ve been reporting multiple transphobic comments misgendering them, mocking their death, and deadnaming them. But they stay up. Tumblr won’t do anything about it. But they drop everything to permanently ban a trans women.

Really shows their priorities.

I think it’s important to keep in mind that trans artists existing online and posting their work doesn’t entitle you to information about their transition and their life story. This isn’t about anybody specific, I’ve had it happen to me a few times that people have been very invasive and assumed things about me, asked me deeply personal questions as a complete stranger, and then gotten very upset when I wasn’t having it. You’re never entitled to any trans person’s story, and a trans person being an artist and making art of trans characters doesn’t change that. I’m a stranger online to most of you; Please keep that in mind.
