‘ i dunno, just seems like the same old, same old. but of course i’m down for a party. i’m sure with enough alcohol i’ll be right back to feeling like i used to. ’

‘  well i haven’t gotten in trouble yet, this semester. this all has to do with what i did last year. even if you were one of those annoying and rude people, i don’t think i could be mad at you. oh well, my schedule isn’t all that busy actually. so are you sure about that? i could be over quite a lot. ’ 

“ already in trouble? what happened? good. is that so, because i’d hate to be one of those annoying and rude people we were just complaining about.” a chuckle escaped her lips. “ before i forget, you’re also very much welcome in my room. whenever you have some time to for me in your busy schedule.”

‘  damn, you got a plan and everything already. i can tell you’ve thought about this before.’  lauren teases lightly, ‘ that should count for work study, how ridiculous. i mean, people already sleep with their professors to get a’s, what’s the difference? ’ 

“I LIKE THE WAY you think, love. you might be onto something here. i’ve given up a fair bit of sugar in my day and i think i even know the first person i’ll ask,” he’s mostly kidding, although seeing milo’s face if he follows through on the proposal might provide for some entertainment. he files that information away for later. “but that doesn’t quite fill my work study.”

lauren used to be one of those people who couldn’t imagine getting ATTACHED to someone they were just hooking up with, but since it happened to her she was much more understanding to it. she hated herself for feeling that way, but she couldn’t help it. ‘ threesomes are overrated, and besides, one person always gets more attention. the balance isn’t there. ’  she made up a bullshit excuse, like she knew anything about it. truthfully she hadn’t had a threesome before, she came close a couple times, but she’d never gone through with it. seeing nadia finish her drink she automatically, without it needing to be said, fixed her another one and handed it back to her. ‘ but what if they’re a really GOOD fuck? that wouldn’t matter then. okay, maybe i haven’t been in any official relationship before. but i’ve come close. don’t you ever just wish you could like come home from class and just have someone there to cuddle with? have someone there for you emotionally and not just sexually? ’  she hoped she wasn’t sounding like a crazy person, but to nadia she probably did. 

“ i don’t understand how some people can get ATTACHED when it’s just sex, ” she honestly said. nadia wasn’t one to catch feelings, but most of her hooks never became messy. she wasn’t a fan of messy relationships, they weren’t worth her time, and when it starts getting messy she tends to leave. “ but don’t you think a threesome would be F U N lauren, it’ll be like old times, plus a random girl you bring home, ” she teases, chugging down the rest of her drink before handing it to lauren to make some more. “ you could SETTLE, but then again think ABOUT all the other girls you COULD be eating out or something. i DON’T know, having S E X with one person all the time can be a little repetitive. but you do you, laur. is that so? what kind of relationships have you been in? ”

‘ me? mean to you? never. i’m already in trouble, in fact, when am i not? you can bother me all you want. if you give me a warning you won’t even have to knock, lucky you. ’ 

“ are you really? i didn’t know you had a mean side to you. i just don’t want you to end up in some trouble. am i? cool – i think i should give you a warning that i’ll soon come by to bother you in your room, then.”

‘ today i did body shots with two really hot freshman girls and got both their numbers, but the odd thing is i wasn’t even that thrilled about it. is this what growing up feels like ? ugh, does this mean i have to start like doing crossword puzzles and constantly talk about the weather ? ’

‘ fine, fine. but i’m gonna endlessly harass you for chickening out. who are you, public safety? yeah, i would of had to start using the sock on the door system like i was doing back in the dorms. you’re welcome to my room whenever, so. like if you ever wanna study or eat lunch or want to get away from your sorority.’ 

“ but if people get hurt, everyone is gonna blame us, because i gave you this idea and you’re all for it. so forget about it, please. i’m sorry. thank god the problem is solved – i don’t know how you’d handle another year full of people just walking into your room without a warning or so. don’t worry, if i ever come over i’ll make sure to remind you to lock the door.”

‘ get a sugar mama or daddy? i dunno, that works out for some of my friends believe it or not. that is if you’re actually willing to give up a little sugar. ’  this was a semi serious suggestion from lauren, it was a bit too close to prostitution for her, but on the other hand it paid the bills. 

“AS THE ACTUAL start of the school year fast approaches, i’m going to need to sort out the whole on campus job situation. ever since freshman year when i was slotted with kitchen duty, i’ve made it a point to stay ahead of the curve and put my feelers out early. you don’t know true hardship until you’re thrown into a hair net and expected to serve your peers and answer ‘is this vegan’ and ‘what is couscous exactly’ twenty times per shift.” he lets out a belabored sigh, shuddering at the memory. “so … have any suggestions?”

‘ that’s true, people usually aren’t attached to someone they hook up with. but that’s because the whole friends with benefits thing can get MESSY. i mean, never happened to me but some people catch the feelings. then you’re fucked.’  lauren explained, because that’s exactly what happened to her, though it’s not like nadia had a clue about that. at the suggestion of a threesome she withdrew a little, ‘ there’s enough girls around that we wouldn’t have to share. i could just hook you up with your own.’ she offered in a friendly manner, not wanting to get involved with nadia again in that way (for her own good) and not sure if she could handle seeing her in bed with someone else. ‘ i dunno, maybe i’ll try the whole girlfriend thing out. who knows? i’m twenty one, maybe it’s time i settle little. i don’t think i’ve ever been in like... a serious relationship before. ’  if she wasn’t drinking, she certainly wouldn’t of let that slip out. 

“ i know i can, ” she says in a sing song voice, which sorta annoyed her right after she did it. “ even if l a s t year’s hook ups found NEW ones, i’d still be hooking up with them. ” honestly nadia could easily hook up with anyone if she wanted to, she wasn’t picky with who they were, she wouldn’t care if they were her old or new hook ups. she nods her head, eyebrows raising up as if she was impressed that lauren’s been meeting other girls. “ WOW and you can bring them over and maybe we could have a threesome, how F U N would that be, ” she says in an excited tone, bringing her glass to her lips and taking a big gulp.

‘ abort the idea?? come on but it’s so good ! i won’t let this stroke of genius go to waste, i refuse. that would be a crime to the party gods. people are gonna get hurt at parties, why shouldn’t they have fun doing it? well, now the problems solved because i have a lock now. so you... i mean, whoever can hang out in my room without being interrupted. i just hope i remember to actually lock it when i need to. sometimes i’m not exactly focused on that when i have a guest over. ’ 

“ ok, no – maybe we should abort the idea. it’s too dangerous, i mean – i know i’d do it before drinking so i don’t worry about myself, but other people – no, just drop the zip-lining. ugh, tell me about it. it’s just nice to get a heads up you know? for when you’re in an awkward situation, even if you’re just staring at the ceiling. i so agree with you on that. if i had some money, i’d invest in that class, man.”

lauren was supposed to be AVOIDING her and keeping her distance, not spending nights together and getting drunk. a part of her really wanted to say yes, turn her joke into an actual plan, but she knew better. ‘ i don’t think anyone could keep up with me.’  she admits, it wasn’t exactly a lie, she was probably the biggest drinker in the house. ‘ i was disappointed too. ’  she really wanted some new people to hook up with, mostly to forget about the old people. one of those being nadia, though she’d never say it out loud. ‘ you better reach out to last year’s hook ups, before they find new ones. though i’ve been meeting a lot of new girls at my shows, so this isn’t that devastating for me.’ she wanted to brag slightly, show her she didn’t need her, though nadia probably wasn’t even thinking that. she didn’t know the effect she had on her, or the feelings she had last year, but that was for the best. 

nadia smiles, taking a big gulp from her fruity vodka, crossing one arm cross her chest, while the other held onto the glass. “ i can be that PERSON to keep up with you. we could share drinks, spend N I G H T S together drinking out lives away. ” she jokes, it’d be like old times minus the sex. though nadia wouldn’t mind if they would have sex again, either way it is just sex. the raven haired female leaned in closer, wanting to hear the inside scoop, not wanting to miss a word. “ NONE!? none of them are FUCK worthy? well fuck, ” she says, disappointment in her tone. she shrugs her shoulders, she didn’t mind fucking the same people over and over again. “ i just WISHED there was n e w comers that would at least be DECENT enough to fuck. ”

‘ oh whatever, some girls are actually attracted to players. especially the good girls for some reason, guess that they just want to find a way to rebel against their parents in college.’  lauren says in amusement, she’d gotten quite a few girls that way, and she wasn’t ashamed about it, ‘ three years ?? holy fuck. that’s even more of a reason to get back out there. get all the girls you’ve been missing out on.’ she insists, she can’t imagine being with someone for that long, ‘ i don’t need you to be my wingman. i’ve been doing just fine without one, but if you’re gonna tragically pass up girls just send them over to me. i’ll take real good care of them for you.’  she teases promiscuously. 

“Maybe I’ll just spread it around anyway. I’d love to see you miserable for the rest of the year.” he jokes. “Hey, I come to the shows because I’m a good supportive friend and because I enjoy your music. If I wanna impress girls then I can do so all on my own. I don’t need help in that department. Plus, I just got out of a relationship of nearly three years, I’m not really trying to pick up girls.” he explains, spinning the basketball around on his index finger before dropping it to the floor. “I understand if you need my help though. If you want me to be your wingman, all you have to do is ask.” he smiles.

‘ i don’t know if i trust drunk people on a zip-line, but i think i’m gonna look into it. but if i pull it off, you have to promise that you’re gonna try it. right?? like whatever we were doing... doesn’t mean they have the right to be rude and interrupt us. i don’t like to be interrupted, especially in my own room, or in my bed for example. fsu should have an etiquette class just focused solely on knocking. ’ 

“ oh, optimism – i like that. you can always ask for a zip-line there, however keep the height as minimum as possible – safety reasons. oh wow, that actually sounds exciting? erm, definitely rude. it doesn’t matter what’s going on, it’s called etiquettes – which quite a lot of people lack nowadays.”

‘ i don’t really think there’s any other interpretation.’  lauren pointed out, shaking her head in disagreement, ‘ what like chad? brian? zach? sounds super dreamy. ’ she responds in her default sarcastic manner, because it was obvious she was never going to figure out who this mystery boy was —  especially with giselle’s vague description. 

“c’mon lau, you know i didn’t mean it like that.” giselle pouted,crossing her arms over her chest. “i don’t know. he had a really generic white boy name.” she shrugged, not really caring that lauren was completely judging her.

‘ i’m just trying to throw something other than a basic ass shitty themed party? sue me. okay, anyone who says that you just have to deal with it obvious doesn’t understand the severity of the problem. i can only assume you don’t have many girls come back to your room often. ’

“ yeah that’s so obviously why. honestly it probably is? guess they didn’t think they had to deal with a twelve year old. maybe you picked wrong? university or playground, it’s pretty easy to mistake. of course there was, there always is. that’s just one of those things you have to deal with. “

‘ would you stop being so damn UPTIGHT? no wonder delta throws better parties than you. my priorities here are none of your business, why the FUCK do you care that mine are different than yours? i don’t know how anyone has a conversation with you without wanting to jump off a cliff afterwards.’ 

‘ it’s not about my outstanding intellectual abilities at this point; more so, about how you think an inflatable slide is a relevant thing to talk about. because if so, i suggest you take a moment to set your priorities… a bit DIFFERENTLY. ’

‘ yeah, no problem. ’  lauren responded, focusing on her drink, and thinking about how fast she could down it without making it look like she was desperate to get drunk. ‘ good, i need someone to keep up with me this year. our poor, poor livers.’ she managed to joke, though she wasn’t really in the joking mood. she took a few big sips out of her cup, hoping the alcohol would hit her in no time. ‘ i got some insider information about the freshman this year, apparently none of them are fuck worthy. so there goes that, we’ll have to pick out of the same pool this year.’  she informs her causally, ‘ which i guess won’t be so bad. i don’t mind, if i already hooked up with someone once i know what they like and they know what i like. ’ 

nadia leaned over the counter observing the other, excited for a glass of vodka or glasses of vodka. she frowned slightly when the other poured herself a drink, she would’ve been happy with drinking vodka straight out the bottle, but she didn’t complain when the other started making a mix drink. “ THANK you, ” she says, a tight smile forming on her lips, picking up the cup, taking a sip as she spoke again. “ you KNOW i can handle anything. ”  it was sorta a lie, since she couldn’t handle most alcohols. she can drink them, but they’d probably get her drunk in minutes.
