wylla smiles fondly at the lady stark , doing their best to pay attention though their thoughts lie elsewhere . they miss white harbor dearly and the overwhelming smells of highgarden throw them for a loop . ❝ you look beautiful , my lady , and very comfortable . ❞ they respond with a grin . while wylla no longer wears fur , their darker attire still clings to them as if they’ve never heard of a dress . ❝ are you having fun ? ❞
“thank you liege manderly,” bethany smiled, “while it’s taken some getting used to, it has been a lot easier to move,” she paused briefly to take a glance at their surroundings, “which has been very helpful when avoiding unwanted attention.” this statement was spoken with a small laugh, “i am enjoying myself. are you?”

“What a great pity,” Nick shook his head softly whilst grinning warmly. “To be covered in a pile of heavy furs and lumps of thick wool. Might be quite cozy but that’s what good beds, quilts, matresses and thick blankets are for. To cuddle and sleep in but not to be misshapenly hung upon such a beautifully sculpted figure and deny the world and yourself the pleasure of waltzing around showing your true beauty. You look exquisite, my lady,” Nick bowed gallantly before taking the brunette’s hand and laying a very fleeting peck on her fingers. “It’s fortunate that you now have a chance to finally wear something that adds to your charm.”
bethany resisted the strong urge to roll her eyes at nick’s comment. after all, she had been the one to open the door for such remarks with her initial statement. that being said, he left a certain distaste in her mouth that she’d be glad to rid herself of. “thank you lord,” she paused, briefly biting down on her lips, “i must apologize, i’m not sure that i caught your name,” she admitted. it was a lie of course - she knew exactly who he was, but he didn’t need to know that.

“ it is beautiful although I can imagine impractical in such situation. “ vysemera acquiesced, a brief incline of the head following as if the response hadn’t been spoken audibly; softly echos of other exchanged compliments when it came to the garments worn to the wedding for vyse was merely so used to ruining the finery instead of appreciating the shades utilized ( for sometimes even a dress could be weaponized ) or designers. “ how long do you think one would last in light finery such as that in the north? should we have someone carry the task? “
“highly so,” bethany responded with a laugh, “it was somewhat difficult to justify purchasing such dresses,” she further admitted, “i can only hope i’ll find future use for them.” in truth, bethany hadn’t shown much hesitation in purchasing several gowns for her time in highgarden - but that detail seemed unnecessary to share. “a northerner inside the castle might survive longer than a visiting southerner or someone outside- but i don’t think they’d survive very long.”

“Ah, if it isn’t my beautiful little sister,” he said, sarcasm dripping in his tone as he leaned against a nearby wall. “I’d hate to say it but I’m really starting to think you don’t mean what you’re saying” he said, not exactly hurt by it - he had seen worse in his time away from the Starks and his little half-sister, though it did sting slightly.
"are you just now figuring that out?” bethany asked, as she forced herself to hold back a laugh. she’d built up a lot of resentment towards her half-brother in the years that had passed since he’d left winterfell, yet, she stopped short of openly laughing at him. it felt cruel, too cruel.

“i have to admit that i have always been curious to know how northerns dress in the north, if you’ll excuse the repetition”. her comment accompanied by a short chuckle. janei hadn’t seen the north, being nearer to it than highgarden, but had heard stories and studied as every good lady. “but, of course, it is necessary to wear such light dresses here. surely if we wore layers on layers, we wouldn’t live to tell the tale.” casterly rock was not as warm as highgarden, but the north definitely had the edge on cold. “are you having a grand time in highgarden, my lady?”
bethany had been the one to open the door to questions about northern fashion - but that didn’t mean she was any less annoyed to answer them. still, she spoke with a smile on her face. “i think it would be safe to say it’s entirely different,” she pursed her lips, “the fabric is much warmer, the necklines are higher,” she paused again, “even the colors - we tend to favor a darker pallet. and of course furs for when it’s truly cold,” she finished her explanation with a small laugh. “i couldn’t imagine wearing one of my usual dresses here,” she admitted, “it’s quite lovely. the days are much longer here.”

with bethany stark . ( @oflykos )
the prince of westeros bared no ill-will to the starks of winterfell , he was a firm believer that the past should be the past and whatever bad blood there was should be ignored . ❝ excuse me , ❞ harwin said , addressing the northern princess with a smile and gently brushed against the lord who had appeared to be bothering them . he was a gentleman , and it was his duty to help out those who looked to be in need – even from pathetic young lords . ❝ princess bethany , would you do me the pleasure of taking a stroll around the vendors with me ? ❞
while in reality they couldn’t have been talking for more than a few short minutes - it felt like an eternity had passed since she’d found herself drawn into conversation with the young lord nutt. she blamed herself for falling into the trap. fortunately for her, an escape soon came in the form of a prince. “i would,” she responded with a smile as she stepped past the lord nutt to join the prince. “thank you prince harwin,” she added only once they were out of earshot of her companion.
