the blonde wasn’t sure what she’d been expecting, but the warmth in his voice and the way his presence seemed to envelop her caught her off guard. she was used to men looking at her with interest, sure, but this was different. bill wasn’t just looking at her—he was looking into her, like he was trying to see past the walls she’d carefully built over the years. it was unsettling, but not in the way she’d expected. when his hand settled gently at the small of her back, she tensed at first, instinct telling her to pull away. but then his words came, soft and deliberate, each one carrying a weight that made her chest tighten. she wanted to tell herself it was the cold air, or the way the firelight danced against his face, but she knew better. something about him made her feel like she was teetering on the edge of something she couldn’t name—danger, curiosity, maybe even comfort.
his question about her telepathy hit her like a stone skipping across water, breaking the fragile calm she’d been trying to hold onto. she hesitated, glancing toward the bonfire where the festival crowd had gathered. she could feel the edges of their thoughts, like faint whispers carried on the wind. she’d gotten better at tuning them out over the years, but the sheer number of people here made it harder to keep her guard up. “sometimes,” she admitted quietly, her voice softer than she intended. “it doesn’t hurt, exactly, but it’s… exhausting. like standing in the middle of a room where everyone’s talking at once and trying to pick out a single voice.” she paused, her gaze flickering back to him, wondering how much to say. “but i’ve learned how to block most of it out. otherwise, i’d never have made it this far.” his question felt genuine, not like idle curiosity or pity, and that made it harder for her to brush it off.
"with you i hear nothing. it's... quiet. it's nice. i don't have to guess what you're saying or try to find out if you're telling me the truth. i can just... trust you." there was something disarming about the way he looked at her, like he wasn’t just hearing her words but understanding what they meant. when he tilted her chin to meet his gaze, her breath caught in her throat. she didn’t flinch, though she probably should have. it wasn’t just the gesture that threw her off—it was the way he made the world seem smaller, quieter, like everything else had faded into the background.
his words lingered in the air between them, heavy with meaning. she felt the pull of them, of him, and it scared her. but it also made her feel seen in a way she wasn’t sure she’d ever felt before. “maybe you're right,” she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper, “but you’re still a mystery to me, bill compton.” she held his gaze for a moment longer before letting herself look away, her cheeks warming under the flicker of the firelight. she wasn’t sure if it was his presence, the heat of the flames, or the way her heart raced whenever he got too close. all she knew was that, for the first time in a long while, she didn’t feel entirely alone. and that, more than anything, scared her the most. "tell me more about you... i know you've probably told your story dozens of times to different people but... i want to get to know you. truly know you."
the cacophony provided by the festival bloomed a wonderous feeling within the helm of his chest , it reminded him so much of the olden days when people were active in the streets bidding soft echoes of good fortune to neighbors and friends alike. community was harder to come by now , especially with the invention of things like cell phones and the internet. at that time nothing about his kind was revealed to the general public , everything felt a much safer.
but , that was no matter , community was not the reason for his presence at the festival on this night. it was the pulchritudinous blonde settled just outside the festival gates , one who has seemingly captivated him since the first moment they spoke at merlotte's. there was something different about her - something new and extraordinary. and it wasn't just for the heavenly scent that resonates a thunderous shift within his cold dead heart , a scent that made it feel almost impossible to not risk sinking his fangs deep within the side of her neck - but her effervescent poise. she has illuminated that part of him decided to mainstream to begin with.
as soon as they meet in close proximity , a hand reaches back , firmly planting his palm against the small of her back , gently guiding to keep her close. ❛ good evening miss stackhouse. i appreciate you meeting me this evening. one i hope i can make memorable for you. ❜ he takes slow steps , following the pattern of her footwork to remain tethered within their shared pathing. ❛ being as it were , i would not miss the opportunity to spend some one on one quality time with you , ❜ his voice edged with a genuine warmth , gaze searching within her own , ❛ it's a good thing for us to come out of the shadows - make ourselves known to the public. show we can do and act just as everyone else. ❜
as they find themselves nearing closer to the fire , brows pull together - peaking over with a slight shift of curiousness that bled in his features. ❛ i'm sorry if i seem invasive - but do you hear everyone's thoughts around us ? ❜ his gaze loosens a bit , a softness held. ❛ does it hurt to hear so many thoughts all at once ? ❜
in the back of his mind he knew there were stares , lingering whispers , a dissonance bill was far too familiar with. even with the additive tension , it was like there was nobody else there - the world becoming a distant oblivion ; the only existence was their own. why would he focus on anything else other than sookie ? the beam of the flame gives a subtle heat that he'll relish in for a moment before turning to face her - bringing a hand up and tipping her chin , looking longingly into her eyes. ❛ why would i miss something i'm doing now , with you ? ❜

the moment katherine stepped into mystic falls’ town square, she felt it—the shift in the air, a tension she couldn’t place but couldn’t ignore. the lights were dazzling, the air heavy with winter’s chill, but that wasn’t what drew her attention. it was her. she spotted her immediately, standing near the bonfire, bathed in the warm glow of the flames. elena gilbert. her perfect replica. no, not perfect—younger, softer, the edges not yet sharpened by centuries of survival and pain. katherine’s lips curled into a smile, slow and deliberate, though there was nothing kind in it. seeing her doppelgänger for the first time felt like staring into a cracked mirror, one that reflected everything katherine had once been but could never be again.
she approached casually, weaving through the crowd with an elegance that made her presence feel both deliberate and inevitable. the vampire queen didn’t bother to mask her gaze as it swept over elena, taking in every detail: the delicate curve of her jaw, the softness in her eyes, the way she carried herself like someone who hadn’t yet learned the weight of the world. she stopped just a few steps away, tilting her head slightly as if to study her from a different angle. before anyone else could spot their resemblance, katherine whisked them away with vampire speed into a corner. “well,” she began, her voice smooth and low, “this is… surreal.” the smirk tugging at her lips didn’t falter, but her chest tightened in a way she hadn’t expected. elena’s existence wasn’t news to her—she’d known about the doppelgänger for years, after all—but knowing was different from seeing.
she let the silence stretch for a moment, her dark eyes flickering to the firelight dancing across elena’s features. “i have to admit,” she continued, her tone light but pointed, “the resemblance is uncanny. though i’m not sure whether to feel flattered or… annoyed.” the words were a test, like everything katherine did. she wanted to see how elena would react, how this girl—this human version of her—would handle the weight of their shared existence. she didn’t miss the flicker of confusion that crossed elena’s face, and it only made katherine’s smirk widen. “don’t look so surprised,” she added, her voice carrying a teasing lilt. her gaze lingered on elena’s hands, the way they fidgeted slightly, betraying nerves. katherine didn’t blame her. meeting someone who wore your face like a mask was unsettling, to say the least.
but katherine had the advantage—she’d had centuries to master the art of control, to turn her fear into power, her uncertainty into strategy. “so,” she said, stepping closer, her voice dropping just slightly. “what’s it like, elena gilbert? being… me? let me introduce myself. i'm katherine.” she arched a brow, the question a mixture of mockery and curiosity. katherine knew she had the upper hand here, but she couldn’t deny the curiosity simmering beneath her surface. this girl, this doppelgänger, had lived a life katherine could barely remember—a life untouched by bloodlust and betrayal. for a moment, katherine let her mask slip, just enough to let a hint of vulnerability creep into her expression. the sight of elena was jarring in ways she hadn’t expected, stirring memories she’d buried long ago. but she wouldn’t let it show—not fully. not yet. “enjoy it while it lasts,” she murmured, her voice soft but cutting, as if to herself more than elena. “it’s a fragile thing, innocence.” she smiled again, sharp and knowing, and took a step back, letting the firelight flicker between them.

sookie hadn’t expected to see him here. the festival was filled with families, couples holding hands, and kids darting between booths for hot cocoa and marshmallows. it was about as far from fangtasia’s dark, pulsing energy as you could get. but somehow, there he was — eric northman, standing near the bonfire like he owned it, his tall frame casting a shadow against the flickering flames. she froze, her breath catching in her throat. she’d hoped a night out at winterfest would help her feel normal again, at least for a little while. rikki had convinced her to go to fangtasia the week before, and since then, she hadn’t been able to shake the memory of eric—his piercing blue eyes, the way his presence seemed to fill every corner of the room, the unsettling mix of fear and fascination he stirred in her.
and now, here he was, in mystic falls, standing among fairy lights and candy canes like it was the most natural thing in the world. except it wasn’t. eric didn’t belong here. and if she was being honest, neither did she. she tried to blend into the crowd, keeping her head down as she moved past the booths. but it was no use—he saw her. she could feel it, like a spotlight suddenly turned her way. when she glanced up, his eyes were already on her, sharp and unyielding. her stomach twisted, and for a moment, she considered slipping back the way she came. but that wasn’t her. and she had to wait for bill. she didn’t run, not from anyone, even if they terrified her in ways she didn’t want to admit. so she lifted her chin and made her way toward the bonfire, her boots crunching against the snow-packed ground. the closer she got, the more her nerves unraveled. she wasn’t sure if it was the way he watched her—like she was the only person in the world worth looking at—or the memories of fangtasia that came flooding back. his voice, deep and smooth, had lingered in her mind all week, weaving through her thoughts in ways that left her restless and confused. when she finally reached him, she stopped a few feet away, unsure of what to say.
“didn’t think this was your kind of scene. you don’t strike me as the hot cocoa type.” she said, the words coming out quieter than she intended. her heart was pounding, and she hated how obvious it probably was. she wasn’t sure why she cared, but she did. maybe it was the way he looked so out of place, or maybe it was the way he looked at her, like he knew something she didn’t. being around him was like standing too close to a storm. it was thrilling and terrifying all at once, and no matter how hard she tried to stay calm, her body betrayed her. her pulse quickened, and the space between them felt charged, like something was waiting to happen. she glanced away, focusing on the fire for a moment, but it didn’t help. she could still feel him, his presence as sharp and undeniable as ever. she wondered if he could hear her heartbeat, if he could sense the way her body reacted to him. the thought made her cheeks burn, and she hated herself for it. eric northman wasn’t just dangerous—he was magnetic, and no amount of small talk was going to change that.

the chill in the air was sharp, biting against katherine’s skin in a way she hadn’t felt in centuries. she tugged the wool collar of her coat higher, hiding the curve of her neck, though not entirely. mystic falls, with all its quaint charm, never failed to turn the mundane into spectacle. fairy lights draped over every surface, casting an ethereal glow across the bustling square. laughter and conversation filled the air, blending with the soft crackle of the bonfire in the distance. the smell of cinnamon and spiced cocoa lingered, teasing her senses. she hadn’t planned to come, not really. events like this felt… trivial, too simple for the vampire queen of virginia. but the pull of mystic falls was relentless, and the whispers of who might show up were enough to draw her out of hiding. and there he was. klaus. his presence was as unmissable as ever, cutting through the crowd like a predator who knew exactly where the boundaries lay and how easily he could cross them.
katherine felt her chest tighten, not with fear, but with the kind of tension that only klaus mikaelson could provoke. it was infuriating, really, how his presence managed to unnerve her even now. even after she had claimed her royal status. even after she had the avl's protection. the authorities' protection. she kept her posture effortless, her steps light and unhurried as she closed the distance between them. the warmth of the bonfire brushed against her cheeks, faintly thawing the cold as she stopped just short of the circle of its glow. her dark eyes traced over him, lingering longer than she should have allowed. “klaus,” she said, her voice smooth, steady. “how utterly festive of you. i didn’t peg you as the type to enjoy quaint small-town traditions.” her lips curled into a faint smirk, the kind that hinted at amusement but held no warmth.
“let me guess—you’re here to remind everyone just how unlikeable you are?” her gaze flicked to the ice skating rink nearby, where couples stumbled and spun, the clumsiness endearing to most. katherine, however, found it dull. but she let the moment linger, as if considering it for herself. “or perhaps you’re here for a stroll down memory lane?” she continued, tilting her head slightly, letting her hair fall over one shoulder. the lights glinted off her curls, a deliberate move on her part. she couldn’t help herself—it was her nature to provoke, to poke at the things others tried to keep hidden. the sound of laughter broke through her thoughts, drawing her attention momentarily to a group of locals passing by with steaming cups of spiked cocoa. “so tell me, what’s next? what are you doing in my dominion? another grand scheme? or are you here just to soak in the scenery?” she let her eyes roam briefly, from the frozen waterfalls in the distance to the clusters of people gathered around the bonfire.

sookie adjusted the hem of her coat as she stood near the entrance to winterfest, the glow of fairy lights bouncing off the frost that clung to the edges of the booths. she wasn’t sure why she felt so nervous—it wasn’t like she hadn’t seen other vampires after meeting him... hell, she had gone to a vampire bar with rikki, but there was something about bill that set him apart. he didn’t look at her like she was some strange curiosity or a puzzle to be solved. or at least, he hadn’t yet. her breath clouded in the cold air as she scanned the bustling square. families darted between booths selling handmade scarves and jars of local honey, their voices blending with the soft hum of christmas music. it was a picture-perfect scene, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that she didn’t quite belong here. the last time she’d gone on anything resembling a date, it had ended with her hearing more about a guy’s insecurities than she ever wanted to know.
when she finally spotted bill, her stomach did an odd little flip. his movements were smooth, unhurried, and he blended into the crowd in a way that didn’t quite match how different he was. she wondered if that came naturally to vampires or if it was something they practiced. “hi,” she said, her voice a little too bright as he approached. she felt silly for how awkward she probably sounded, but it was hard not to be a little on edge. she shoved her hands into her coat pockets to keep from fidgeting. “you’re brave, coming out to something this… public.” the words left her mouth before she could think better of them. it wasn’t exactly polite, but she was curious. she couldn’t help it. mystic falls wasn’t like washington or los angeles, but she still doubted there was much love for vampires here. as they started walking through the event, sookie felt herself relax—just a little. the scent of spiked hot cocoa wafted through the air, and her stomach growled faintly at the thought of a warm drink.
“do you ever miss… you know, regular human things like this?” she asked, the question felt personal, maybe too personal, but she was genuinely curious. it was hard to imagine not being able to enjoy the simple things—hot cocoa, ice skating, the way the cold air bit at your nose. they eventually made their way toward the bonfire, the warm glow flickering against the frozen falls in the distance. sookie hugged her coat tighter around her as they stood near the edge of the gathering crowd. “i guess what i’m trying to say is, i’m glad you’re here and i'm glad you invited me.” her words were quiet, almost lost in the crackle of the fire, but she meant them. even with the nerves and questions swirling in her head, it felt good not to be standing here alone.

the icy air bit at pam’s skin, not that she felt it the way the humans around her did. she adjusted the fur-lined collar of her coat with a gloved hand, scanning the crowd with a mixture of disdain and mild curiosity. winterfest was the sort of thing she would normally avoid—too many children, too many humans bundled up like they were heading into the arctic, and far too much forced cheer. but she had insisted to eric they make an appearance. her heels crunched against the frosted cobblestone as she followed the trail of twinkling lights that led into town square.
pam stopped in her tracks as a group of children squealed their way toward the ice-skating rink, their laughter grating against her ears. she tilted her head, watching them fumble and stumble like newborn deer. “charming,” she said dryly, her lips curving into a faint smirk. “nothing like the sight of fragile little humans flailing on frozen water to make the night complete.” the smell of spiked hot cocoa wafted through the air, mingling with the faint metallic scent of blood from the crowd. her sharp eyes caught sight of a couple huddled together, sipping from steaming mugs and laughing as if the world wasn’t full of things that could rip them apart.
pam sighed and crossed her arms. “humans really have no sense of self-preservation. all it would take is one slip, one wrong move, and their happy little winter wonderland turns into a bloodbath.” she glanced at eric, arching a brow. “and they wonder why we’re the predators.” as they moved toward the bonfire near the falls, pam took in the scene with a calculating eye. “tell me, when we are going to have some real fun and you're going to make it up to me for leaving me by myself?” her voice softened slightly, almost imperceptibly. "I'm hungry. that's all."

— how does your muse feel about vampires "coming out of the coffin" ? additionally how has it affected your muse ?
katherine has mixed feelings about vampires revealing their existence. on one hand, she sees the potential for power and influence in a world where vampires no longer have to hide. it gives her new avenues to manipulate humans and other supernaturals alike. operating without secrecy allows her to play the political game with greater ease and establish herself as a key player in the vampire community, given her royal blood and her position as vampire queen of virginia. on the other hand, she views the entire concept with disdain. katherine doesn’t believe in the coexistence narrative the league preaches. in her mind, humans are always going to fear vampires, and vampires will always use humans as pawns. the idea of vampires asking for rights feels like weakness to her, but she plays along because the mainstreaming movement offers her a chance to rebuild her empire under a new guise. this change has forced her to adjust her strategies. no longer confined to the shadows, katherine is now navigating public perception and balancing her old methods of manipulation with a polished, diplomatic facade. aligning herself with the league ensures she stays relevant while giving her access to their resources and connections.
— muse what was your muse up to prior to the news ?
prior to the revelation, katherine was as elusive as ever, staying on the move to avoid old enemies and hunt for opportunities to regain the power she lost by running away from klaus. sadly, coming from a royal bloodline and being queen didn't do much in her war with the original. she spent much of her time tracking rumors of powerful witches and artifacts, always seeking a way to reclaim her throne at least secure an edge over her rivals. she was also quietly rebuilding a network of loyal followers, leveraging her knowledge of supernatural politics to create alliances and plant spies in key locations. every move was calculated, every interaction designed to bring her one step closer to being untouchable again. the revelation disrupted her plans, forcing her to pivot and embrace the new political climate.
— what goals / aspirations does your muse currently hold ?
katherine’s ultimate goal is always power. in this new world, she aspires to position herself as a royal leader within the vampire community, someone who can navigate both the supernatural and human worlds with ease. she dreams of establishing a new hierarchy where she reigns supreme, using the american vampire league and vampire authority as tools to solidify her royal rule. in the short term, she seeks to eliminate threats to her survival, particularly hunters emboldened by the mainstreaming movement. she also wants to monopolize access to daylight jewelry and other resources, ensuring her position remains unassailable. you might catch her even orchestrating selling vampire blood. at her core, katherine desires to feel invincible again, whether through gaining political power or securing alliances that make her indispensable.
— what important canonic alterations have you made for your muse ?
her alliance with the american vampire league and vampire authority adds a political dimension to her character, emphasizing her adaptability and strategic mind. katherine also embraces the opportunity to become a public figure within the vampire world, something she wouldn’t have risked in earlier eras, no matter her strong royal bloodline.
— what are some plotlines you would like to see for your muse ? what connections are on your wishlist for them ?
plotlines: - katherine navigating the balance between her public role with the league and her private schemes to undermine or control it. - a rivalry with another vampire or human politician, testing her ability to stay one step ahead. - being hunted by someone from her past who threatens to expose her secrets or derail her plans. - an alliance of convenience with a powerful witch or supernatural being to secure access to daylight jewelry or new forms of protection. connections: - a human politician or journalist who becomes either an asset or a threat, forcing her to play a careful game. - a young vampire looking for mentorship who reminds katherine of herself, sparking a mix of maternal instincts and calculated manipulation. - a rival within the league who questions her loyalty and threatens her position.

— what is one of your favorite qualities of your muse? on the other side of things, is there anything about your muse that irks you ?
my favorite quality is katherine’s survival instincts. no matter how many times she’s knocked down, she always finds a way to claw her way back to the top. her ability to adapt and thrive in any situation is endlessly fascinating. my least favorite quality is her inability to let go of her pride, even when it jeopardizes her survival. katherine’s insistence on maintaining control and never appearing weak often makes her own life more difficult.

— how does your muse feel about vampires "coming out of the coffin" ? additionally how has it affected your muse ?
sookie felt conflicted when vampires revealed their existence. on one hand, she admired the courage it took for them to step into the light, demanding equal rights in a world that wasn’t ready to accept them. as someone who had been judged and ostracized her entire life for being different, she empathized deeply with their struggle. however, their "coming out" also brought a wave of unease. while she appreciated that tru blood offered a safer alternative to humans becoming prey, the truth about vampires made her small-town life feel infinitely more dangerous. their presence wasn’t just theoretical—it was palpable, especially with their interest in her. vampires were drawn to her for reasons she couldn’t yet understand, and that attention turned her life upside down.
— what was your muse up to prior to the news ?
before the great revelation, sookie’s life was simple but far from easy. she worked as a waitress at merlotte’s, navigating the mental chaos of hearing everyone’s thoughts while trying to keep her head down. her days were spent balancing a demanding job with the emotional toll of her telepathy, and her nights were filled with quiet loneliness, yearning for a connection she could never seem to find. in her mind, she was destined for a quiet, unremarkable life in mystic falls, her dreams of something more slowly fading into the background of everyday survival.
— what goals/aspirations does your muse currently hold ?
sookie dreams of finding a place where she can belong—a sanctuary where she isn’t judged for her telepathy or treated as an oddity. her immediate goal is to understand the strange, magnetic pull vampires seem to have toward her, as she has noticed the way vampires look at her. she also craves independence and longs to prove, both to herself and others, that she doesn’t need saving. in the long term, sookie fantasizes about creating a haven for outcasts like herself, a space where people can feel safe and understood. a place between an orphanage and a safe house for people who feel like they don't belong. it’s a fragile dream, one she rarely speaks aloud, but it keeps her hopeful during the more difficult days.
— what important canonic alterations have you made for your muse ?
her unexplored ambition: beyond survival, sookie begins to crave more than the small-town life she’s always known. her experiences with the supernatural push her to dream of creating a sanctuary for others like her—supernatural beings who don’t fit neatly into their respective worlds. this aspiration becomes a driving force, shaping her choices and alliances as she seeks to carve out a space where she can finally belong. her connection to the founding families: while the stackhouses were not one of the main founding families, they played a significant role in mystic falls’ history. adele stackhouse, sookie’s grandmother, was a key figure in documenting the town’s supernatural occurrences, keeping journals that hold critical knowledge. these journals will become a cornerstone of sookie’s journey, guiding her through the dangers of mystic falls while revealing unsettling truths about her family’s legacy. sookie's powers: her light is verypotent, though still finite. it can manifest unpredictably in moments of extreme emotional distress, acting as both a shield and a weapon. her light has unique effects on vampires and magic—it can nullify enchantments, break blood bonds, and weaken older vampires, which makes her a target for those who fear or covet her abilities. sookie’s telepathy also includes a rare form of psychometry. through physical contact, she can access hidden memories, past emotions, and sometimes even fragments of future events. this ability is unreliable and taxing, but it becomes a pivotal tool in unraveling the mysteries of mystic falls.
— what are some plotlines you would like to see for your muse? what connections are on your wishlist for them ?
the discovery of her fae heritage: sookie slowly uncovers the truth about her abilities and bloodline, perhaps with help from a reluctant ally or through a dangerous encounter with faeries. a moral crossroads: sookie is forced to choose between helping vampires achieve sunlight immunity and keeping her abilities hidden to protect herself. tension: her connection to eric northman (i'm a sucker for eric OKEI?!!?) or another dark, mysterious vampire creates conflict, forcing her to reconcile her fascination with vampires and the danger they bring into her life. building a sanctuary: sookie begins laying the groundwork for a safe space for supernatural misfits, an idea born out of her desire to find a sense of belonging. alliances and rivalries: sookie navigates relationships with mystic falls’ key players, including the salvatore brothers, witches like bonnie bennett, and vampires like bill compton, each bringing their own complications. best friends: except for tara (who is obviously sookie's bestie), i'd like for sookie to find more friends and meet people who won't judge her or be scared of her abilities.
— do you have a playlist you associate with your muse ?
bad things - jace everett || r u mine - arctic monkeys || pocketful of sunshine - natasha bedingfield || bleeding love - leona lewis || teeth - lady gaga || crazy in love - beyonce || i wanna be yours - arctic monkeys || closer - nine inch nails || sweet creature - harry styles || coraline - maneskin || too sweet - hozier || tear you apart - she wants revenge || sweet - cigarates after sex
— what is one of your favorite qualities of your muse? on the other side of things, is there anything about your muse that irks you ?
my favorite quality of sookie is her resilience. despite the overwhelming challenges her telepathy brings and the constant judgment she faces, she remains kind and open to the possibility of connection. her loyalty and determination to do what’s right, even when it’s hard, make her deeply compelling. what irks me about sookie is her naivete. her trusting nature can put her and those she loves in unnecessary danger. while it stems from her sheltered upbringing and kind heart, it sometimes feels frustrating to see her walk headfirst into situations that others would approach with more caution. however, this flaw also makes her growth more satisfying when she learns from her mistakes.
