BELLE:
Offering the dark haired man a rare smile she studied him for a moment. Her scrying ball had told her of his arrival with the wind but up close he was much more handsome than she had anticipated. For a mere second she had wondered why she had ventured out into town, she almost never did but for him she did. Her curiosity had gotten the best of her. Surely the townsfolk had mentioned her to him?
“Belle. Mary Belle. Think of it as a belated welcoming gift. The butter and bread are fresh; made before morning’s first light. ”
Basking in the sunlight for a moment she felt at peace but only for a moment. She could feel eyes boring into her back. Her hackles rose and she bristled, the knot in her stomach growing. If she didn’t leave the name calling was bound to start.
“I hope you enjoy them, Mr. Sayer. All I ask is that you return the basket. I’m easy to find. First and only cottage down the right path in Belle Woods. Good day to you.”
Thrusting the basket and backing away she turned once more from the church yard and went back into the safety of the woodland once more.

Caerwyn dipped his head forward some in greeting, given that his usual welcome was to shake a hand or press a gentle kiss upon one, and he was unable to do so because the woman held a gift .. not many folk thought to bring any sort of offering, but he could appreciate it well. She was someone he had not yet had the chance to meet prior and so, he was floored by the basket she brought along; her own form of greeting, perhaps? That had to be it, of course and a wide smile bloomed then.
‘ ———beautiful name, Miss. Belle. I admire your generosity in such challenging circumstances. I have not been here long.. however, I’ve come to recognise the many hardships of this town as of late and your offering is very kind, ‘ his approval and acceptance of her genuine angel-like qualities were written clear in his expression and he saw to it she acknowledged that.
The gentleman was not so put off by her presence, rather, he invited anyone whom was offering a delightful gift and - of course - was forever keen on befriending those who showed him a similar sort of longing for friendship. He had been without a true friend since his arrival some months ago, but of all the time he spent outside of the chapel doors he sought some comfort in that area. Personality in this location was in abundance, but most seemed terribly unwilling to approach a house of God ; the select few folk who were always ever so lovely toward him, including this face he had not yet glanced upon until now. Her haste in taking a leave did startle him plenty, but somehow he caught the basket in hands that had otherwise been hanging loosely at his sides.
‘ Oh .. madame, I must.. ‘ but his care and concern for the woman who appeared in such a state - was blanked, as she had already turned swiftly on her heel and the only sign that she had not been simply his imagination, was that of the bundle of treats she had left him with. A shake of the head, & a soft chuckle followed as he pulled back the napkin shielding the smell of fresh bread ; nestled not too far from a few slices of loaf, a small pot of what looked to be homemade jam.
The male had taken note of the glances the kind woman had received upon entering the grounds, but he would be sure to stop by and pay her a visit, in thanks for her goodness toward him. He was - as always, one to overlook any sort of cause for judgement, because he didn’t believe in it.. he didn’t believe that anyone deserved such cruel punishment for anything that they had done, or that of which others believed they had done. He would drop in later that afternoon, providing she was home.

Interview with the Vampire (book) Sentence Starters
I’m in a mood, so here’s another sentence meme.
“Evil is always possible.” “The world chances, we do not, therein lies the irony that kills us.” “Evil is a point of view.” “God kills, and so shall we.” “The only power that exists is inside ourselves.” “Goodness is eternally difficult.” “And sometimes i found myself so vividly aware of him it was as if he had only just left the room and the ring of his voice were still there.” “Whether a man would die tomorrow or the day after or eventually… it doesn’t matter.” “I knew I was home.” “I walked the streets.” “Do you know what it means to be loved by Death?” “Do you know what it means to have Death know your name?” “Don’t you see?” “I’m at odds with everything and always have been!” “I have never belonged anywhere with anyone at any time!” “I love you still, that’s the torment of it.” “The measure of my hatred is that love.” “Do you know now how much I hate you?” “Don’t be a fool for the Devil, darling.” “You see that old woman?” “You will never grow old, and you will never die.” “I shall never ever grow up.” “Let the flesh instruct the mind.” “A starving child is a frightful sight.” “I want you. I want you more than anything in the world.” “Mortal beauty often makes me ache.” “That is the crowning evil, that we can even go so far as to love each other, you and I.” “Who else, knowing us as we know each other, could do anything but destroy us?” “I look like an angel, but I’m not.” “We’re beautiful like the diamond-backed snake, or the striped tiger, yet we’re merciless killers.” “You know nothing.” “And we must live with the knowledge that there is no knowledge.” “But I can’t hate you, my love.” “Now it’s time to leave him.” “What does it mean to die when you can live until the end of the world?” “I wanted love and goodness.” “It was my death.” “I saw my last sunrise.” “And then I said farewell to sunlight, and set out to become what I became.” “You haven’t tears enough for what you’ve done to me.” “I might have known what it was to walk at your side.” “Aren’t there gradations of evil?” “Is evil a great perilous gulf into which one falls with the first sin, plummeting to the depth?” “I never changed after that.” “I was satisfied. I was filled to the brim. But I was dead. And I was changeless.” “You are the night, and the night alone understands you and enfolds you in its arms.” “How could you believe in these old fantastical lies, these myths, these emblems of the supernatural?” “My power would be your power.” “I have the dreadful feeling that I don’t exist at all.” “I shudder when I’m near you.” “You cannot pass back to the world of human warmth with your new eyes.” “Not a wild, mortal fear, but something cold like a hook in my side.” “I wish I could.” “You reflect your age differently. You reflect its broken heart.” “Killing is no ordinary act.” “Only the doll had a human face, only the doll.” “Well, I tell you I am no longer that passive, weak creature that has spun evil from evil until the web is vast and thick while I remain its stultified victim.” “It’s over!”

( @mscandystriper )

Colleen swiftly walked up the stone steps of the cathedral, she had been drawn there like a moth to a flame. Under her coat she carried a wicker basket filled with peace offerings of homemade preserves, herbal teas, fresh turned butter and elderberry wine. She had been watching him for some time, out of curiosity more than anything. Inside she had tucked a note. "You give so much. Please partake of these offerings."

Caerwyn had settled himself before the sanctuary as the service came to an end; those who had come that morning swiftly filtering out the side doors into the easy, welcoming weather outside. The silence that swept over the place was comforting, in ways even home could not be - and he allowed himself to bask in that a while longer, somehow drowning out the presence of another, who had not long ago strolled down the nave. ‘ Ah—— ‘ he acknowledged the woman with a warm smile, gazing momentarily at the basket she held toward him. ‘ You are too kind, Miss.. ? ‘
#mscandystriper#( I remember that you sent this and meant it to be from your belle witch account but )#( I'm not sure if you use it any more so I've brought it over to Col instead x3 )
