sam rolls his eyes, although he doubts scout can tell due to his sunglasses. “alright, fine. but that doesn’t mean he’ll fall down the stairs. i feel like, if anything, he’ll do just fine with the stairs and then fall over as soon as he hits the ground. drunks are always surprising like that.”

sam checked his wallet, finding two fives and grinning. “you’re on.” he relaxed back into his former position laying back on his chair and working on his tan, keeping one eye on the man they were betting on. “maybe he’s waiting for someone and they’re running late. maybe he’s just drinking soda. seems to me that my odds are honestly not that bad.”

 she  reaches  into  the  beach  bag  that’s  by  her  surfboard    ,    pulling  out  a  ten.    ❛    deal.    ❜    chuckles  softly  before  kneeling  down  next  to  his  chair    ,    eyes  still  on  the  man  in  question.    ❛    dude.    ❜    looks  over  at  sam    ,    and  then  back  at  the  guy.    ❛    you  see  him    ?    he’s  been  up  there  for  like    .  .  .    two  hours.    maybe  more.    he  can  barley  stand.    his  soda  must  be  damn  strong.    ❜

“make it double and we’ll see.” staring at the obviously drunk man that had been leaving the bar, she then turned over to the other girl in front of her. “how long has that dude been drinking? he looks absolutely shitfaced!”

“blah, blah, blah, mom. me plus a surfboard any time is increasing my chances of crashing so let’s get on with the show and go out with a bang, shall we?” it occurred to him he should’ve offered to carry her surfboard, though it crossed his mind he’d assumed she’d sneer at the offer. “well i tried molly but it made me too horny, i fucked a grandma– never again. too dangerous.”

“not hurt myself, just get a little crazy, maybe crash into some waves, no drown or anything.” he shrugged, motioning for her to follow him as he made his way to the bar. “i’m a pain in everyone’s ass – seems to be the general consensus… though i think people are just too boring, don’t know how to let loose.”

━━ “ i can just give you ten dollars if you need it. ” kirby stated half jokingly although if the girl accepted she’d give it.  “ probably.. unless they’re having the same bet as us. it is a little white-trash to be getting drunk on the beach. what is this? jersey shore? ” shrugging as she looked around for the beach for the perfect tanning spot to witness whether or not the guy in question was about to inebriate himself to the point he’s going to be in the hospital. “ meh, he’s a solid five. i like a seven - minimum. ”

“And that’s Kiara, or Ki as we call her. When she’s not saving turtles or listening to Marley or getting a dolphin tattoo, she hangs out with us. I’m not really sure why though. She’s a rich kid, actually, with a foot in both worlds. Her family owns ‘The Wreck’ which is this Outer Banks institution. Total cash cow with the tourists. You know, I’m not really sure how her parents feel about us. I guess we all sort of have a thing for her.”

BROWN HUES GLANCE over where scout’s finger points as she smiles , instantly recognizing the man as a frequent customer at ace lounge. ❝ oh , i’m not much of a gambler , besides , you’re probably right. ❞ the first few times she’d seen him leaving ace lounge , he never failed to crash right into the door so tripping down the stairs wasn’t out of the question. ❝ honestly , dude comes into ace lounge more than i do and he always makes a fool out of himself. crashing into doors , bartenders , tables , you name it. ❞

“i kind of hope he does, is that awful?” she couldn’t help but picture the topsy turvey many toppling down the flight of steps not far from the pair. the sun was beating down on phaedra’s bare shoulders as she kind of let her feet play in the sand beneath them. “how’re the waves today? i’ve always wanted to learn, but have been afraid to actually ask someone to teach me.” it was rather silly of her considering she’s a native of the bay. “maybe he’s going through it, we never know.” 

 ❛    nah    ,    i’ve  been  looking  to  see  if  he  was  there  each  time  i  come  back  up  to  my  spot  from  the  water  specifically  because  i  want  to  see  if  he’s  gonna  make  a  whole  mess  out  of  himself.    ❜    wasn’t  usually  the  type  to  pay  much  attention  to  people  around  her    ,    but  he  made  it  hard.    ❛    they’re  pretty  good.    not  the  best  day  i’ve  seen    ,    but  it’ll  do.    i  can  always  teach  you    ,    you  know.    i  don’t  really  know  how  good  of  a  teacher  i’ll  be    ,    but  i’ve  been  surfing  since  i  was  little  and  it  beats  paying  an  actual  instructor.    ❜    wouldn’t  make  the  offer  for  just  anyone.    ❛    maybe.    i  could  always  ask.    ❜

 ❛    i’d  bet  you  ten  bucks  that  that  guy  trips  down  the  steps.    ❜    fingers  point  towards  a  clearly  intoxicated  man  that  was  leaving  the  walk  up  bar  at  seafront.    hands  settle  on  her  hips  ,  glancing  over  at  the  other  beach  -  goer  that  was  next  to  her  and  now  suddenly  apart  of  her  people  watching.    ❛    he’s  been  up  there  for  like    ,    at  least  an  hour.    i’ve  been  on  and  off  surfing  for  a  while  and  he’s  still  there.    no  judgement    ,    but  damn.    ❜

I liked that about her. She was unpredictable. Sometimes the things she said and did were surprising. Sometimes they disturbed me. But she was exciting, and that’s what I liked most. She was so many, many things but she was never once boring.
