Piri Reis

A young cartographer and navigations master in the making, Piri is part of his uncle’s crew. Though outgoing and jovial, he is high maintenance and immature at times, often getting into mischief. Being a privateer has influenced his morals; Stealing is bad, murder is bad, but that ship was going down anyway and it would be a waste to leave pretty rich stuff behind. Much like any sailor, he is very superstitious and religious. Though confident in most aspects, he over compensates greatly in areas that he feels inadequate or shameful over and can often come off as an asshole if pushed.

Despite combat training, Piri is an opportunist at any chance. There are no rules in his form of combat and he fights dirty, doing near anything to gain the upper hand. For him everything from bottles to boots to pocket sand can and will be made a weapon, though he does wield two kilij. Though decent in a fight, he can be known to turn tail and run if he thinks himself in over his head. One of his favorite methods of avoiding an outright brawl is changing his aggressor’s attention to something else. If he smells so much as a hint of disagreement between two parties he will stretch and twist their quarrel to turn them against each other, escaping while the two try and settle their differences. Alternatively he has shouted, ‘whats that behind you’ with varying results.

He never cared much for home life, preferring to spend his days at the docks or bazaar, but is caring for his loved ones. His father is supposed killed in action, though it is unknown exactly what happened. Still young, he and his mother were given to the care of his uncle, though his mother later remarried due to convenience for both her and Kemal. Once Piri was old enough to work on a ship, he went to live and work for his uncle, feeling more kinship with him than his step-father.

Kemal Reis

A seasoned captain landed with a title he didn’t ask for, Kemal is a man of little ambition. Hardworking and task oriented, he was perfectly content being his brother’s Quartermaster, but after his death the crew happily accepted Kemal as their next head and the ship fell to him. Already contracted as privateers, he was stuck with the job. Thankfully most of his crew don’t need to be broken in, however new recruits have to survive the senior members to have any chance on the ship.

There is a fine line between his job and the rest of his life, and fighting is reserved for the former. Kemal has a history of getting himself out of scraps caused by his brother, usually opting for a more civil route, but is known to (at times even literally) throw his weight around. When something he doesn't like tries rearing its head, he is either there stopping it before it starts or has evacuated the area. Though he has a yataghan at his hip he finds something much more poetic in the efficiency of blunt force trauma. Unless he has deemed someone as a threat or enemy, Kemal prefers to avoid combat and will always finish what he starts. It is rumored he once fought twenty men without earning a single scratch but was later immobilized by a stomachache caused by excessive baklava.

There is nothing more Kemal looks forward to than ‘retirement’. Privateering was something for he and his brother, but times have changed and that contract has yet to expire. He is a simple man, loving nothing more than a quiet day to fish. Between this and his habit of not pursuing adventure his brother dubbed him the ‘old man’ at the ripe age of 14. He is quite opinionated, especially around his nephew, Piri, however on certain matters of disagreement he has been known to be quiet around his wife, Philomena.

Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa

Age: 26 Height: 179.6 cm (5′9″) Weight: 76.2 kg (168 lb) Eye Color: Blue Hair: Blond/Dirty Blond Body Type: Lithe/Toned Species: Human (he/him) Sexuality:

A man with an obsession for magic, Agrippa has a few screws loose. He’s a scholar and a gentleman, just don’t get to know him too well and perhaps you might keep that opinion. Agrippa is a man of science, determination, and a sore loser. His life dedication is to bring the gift of magic to the common man and he is certain his study of alchemy will do such, willing to pay almost any price in doing so. His family’s status has given him opportunities at the best education, but he found normal university studies to be quite limiting and uninspired. In his pursuits ended up studying under Moora.

Although he was trained in fencing during his time at uni, Agrippa prefers using his wits to manipulate his was through conflict. If that doesn’t work, he uses his study in the alchemic arts to fight his battles. This of course means he has to pre plan conflict, as his book can only cast so much, but he finds a certain thrill in contemplating and preparing for every possible out come. He believes in playing by the rules, all up until he starts slipping. If things do not go his way, or if he is ‘pushed’ to play rough, he can get quite ruthless. Agrippa is always one to take moral high ground and will often egg on fights.

He finds little gain in interpersonal relationships, there are few that condone the study of alchemy and if they cannot appreciate his certain affinity for the art he loses interest outside of personal gain. His family relationships are quite estranged, though he can take responsibility for most of the troubles his parents face. He believes his relationship with his father is simply peachy while putting extra effort into pretending his mother doesn’t exist.

Philomena

Age: 33 Height: 127 cm (4′2′’) Weight: 29.9 kg (66 lbs) Eye Color: Red Plumage: Brown, White, Black, and Auburn Body Type: Small/Petite Species: Pennipotien (she/her) Sexuality: Heterosexual

A Lesser Pennipotien that left her nation’s capital to reside with humans. Though she willing moved to the humans’ city she didn’t care to learn a thing about them, going in knowing only rumors of their culture and manners. Mena might have made the jump blindly, but she is optimistic, carefree, and full of pluck. She thinks humans (or mammals as a whole) are horribly strange and backwards creatures, finding them to be large, ugly, and bald creatures who have an extra finger too many. Though she seems to be oblivious, she actually doesn’t care in most aspects, preferring to live out her life in the human world as though she were still back home. It causes issues, but it’s never something she can’t handle.

Philomena was never trained formally in combat, but being a Lesser Pennipotien hasn’t been easy. She could easily get overpowered by a few humans, but her husband and his connections ensure that never happens. That, and Pennipotiens in the human world stick up for each other. However, she knows a few shady birds in her new home, and she loves to gossip with them. If something in the city is happening, she will know.

Being flightless isn’t easy in her hometown, but that doesn’t mean she stopped keeping in contact with family and friends. She writes home when she remembers, but their exchanges are never anything deep. She adores her husband and nephew to bits, giving them a good disposition with the other Penn-folk of their town.
