A long long time ago - circa 2007 - I moved to Detroit to run a record label with my good bud, @tvtm.det Over the course of nearly 7 years, we would go on to form great relationships within the Detroit music scene, release a lot of great music with many talented artists and musicians, and throw countless memorable parties, with help of said artists and musicians. It was truly an exciting time. But as time moved onward, the record label project was sidelined as new career paths took priority. It was at this period when I decided to gravitate towards hospitality, which would lead to a bartending / restaurant career. However as time often does, it has a way of circling back to the things in life that we enjoy the most. For me and for the longest time, that was finding music, curating playlists and deejaying…. And doing it with homies. It’s been a really long time since I’ve done so with any regularity and so It comes with great pleasure to announce a new collaboration with @TVTM for a monthly night of music @_takoi_ We have a magical patio all set up and ready for you. We'll be dishing out the tunes while the bar slings the drinks and the kitchen serves up those legendary sandos. The summer is due to be a hot, sweaty, sun-soaked situation and so we're gonna GET IT IN!! The first session is this Friday which lands on the precipice of my 40th birthday and it’s fixing to be 80 degrees and sunny. Stop by early, swing by late or dip in between. My friend @coleswashere recently enlisted me to make a drink with the new brand she reps and I haven’t made a vodka cocktail so I was definitely up for the challenge. Discovering Spanish wine has been an adventure worth taking. There is history, there is diversity, there is traditional and contemporary all mixed together in the best possible ways. Tuesday’s cocktail dinner with @herradurateq was a great success. One of the best that we’ve executed to date, thanks to the A++ squad in tow! Even more, these kind of dinners have been piquing my curiosities as of late in that It challenges one to consider food and cocktails as part of one collaborative system rather than a separate experience altogether.
