he called in for her and so she came, just like how he’d do the same for her. it had become a norm for them to do so and she can’t thank the heavens above for it. over the years, the two grew closer the moment she opened up. everyone knew of her evasive act around people; locking herself up in her room, playing by herself with her toys and reading books that took her in a world where there were only happiness and love ( probably where her got her soft heart ). they were close but not enough to break off that awkwardness that lingered whenever silence took over their laughters and smiles. if there was anything she could do to change it, she would and if these little trips of theirs would help them one bit, she’d gladly come over no matter how exhausted her mind and body was. 

everything else was set in place yet the silence that she somehow learned to despised made its return. she had no other choice but to distract herself. thankfully though, she was in charged of dinner, the ingredients that was set aside was soon found in front of her, preparing everything she needed to make another one of her exquisite cuisine. for a start; a bland miso soup but that was before he said those words she never thought she’d be hearing. he dropped out of... what? her body went still yet her expression remained as is. what was she supposed to say to him? what happened? was he not happy?

her heart pounded on her chest, unsure of what to feel nor what to say and so she went to the fridge to grab a bottle of beer. looks like they would be skipping dinner and would just have to drink. she wasn’t much of a drinker but she figured, maybe this was the best way to talk this all out. and jax, out of all people, chose her to entrust such big news and the last thing she wanted was to say something rash and stupid. she poured him half a glass and another for herself.

“since when?” she just hoped she wouldn’t pass out on him. “and why’d you do it?” she said in a surprisingly calm manner. she wasn’t mad nor disappointed, she was just... curious to why he had done it.

a moment of silence lingers in the full apartment, normally full of life, loud laughter, jolly music. but jax remains quiet as groceries are neatly organized in the fridge, and as his ( obscurely ) shy hands linger on each item. perhaps he was saving time, avoiding the inevitable, but there’s a deep pounding in his ears. he promised himself he’d tell someone in his life. anyone. and his heart chose sky. if there was anyone who would understand him even a little bit, it was his little sister. her heart was so full, so open to the world that shuffled along in front of her, and he just felt so fucking hopeless. he thought admitting it aloud would wash a wave of serenity over his woes, but even saying the words was a mountain in front of him to climb. he invited her over for grocery shopping followed by dinner ( since he couldn’t cook it himself ), and even though she wasn’t much of a chef either, it felt peaceful with someone beside you. he loved living alone, but it took his toll. luckily, nico was right next door, and sky was always but a call away. he couldn’t avoid it now … the fridge was organized, groceries put away, dinner ingredients set aside, and there were no mini-tasks to cope with anymore.

the words flew off his tongue as if it were anything else: a comment about the weather, a memory of the earlier day, a random observation. his tone remained flat and level. maybe he finally felt numb to the reality, to what he would face, but now it was out there, to someone close to him. someone who could offer him advice or help. in anyway. god, he needed anything at this point. the solitude of a secret was suffocating, and the silence in the apartment began to ring inside of his ears. “ yeah, “ jax nodded, closing the fridge door and scratching the back of his neck. “ i dropped out of med school. and i’m not going back. “

to paint or probably pester her brother around was her original plan for the day, her desire to grow closer to him was strong and would do anything to make that happen but seeing the throng of shoppers; laughing, chatting and walking around with their hands full with bags filled with whatsit were enough to testify that her objective for the day took a huge turn, shifting from dropping to jax’s apartment to the mall. they were to shop. truth be told, sky was uncertain of how sunni talked her out of it but she managed to get the approval of the timid artist. her eyes roamed around rather cautiously, she wasn’t sure of what to do. all she had ever done for fun was to visit other people’s places; joking around, watching their favorite shows or singing along whenever it was something musical and lastly, museums, art galleries and alike. she felt kind of exposed so she made sure to keep herself close to the other. she tore her gaze from the crowd, glad to be distracted by the dress that was now presented right before her very eyes and shock was evident on her face. heck, she didn’t even try to hide it. the dress looked... enchanting. it has a huge ‘hole’, as she would call it, on its back that would completely leave her back exposed. a part of her loved the dress and thought maybe it would good look on her but those demons named insecurity crawling down her veins says so otherwise causing her mouth to open and to protest but surprisingly, no sound came out of her lips as if her mind failed to formulate the right words to say. she wanted to say no but what came out of her mouth was something different. “do you really think that would look good on me? plus, what we have is enough and i don’t want you to be spending too much.”

@ofssky // “ooh, how about this bad boy,” sunni spoke with excitement as she held up a slender black dress that had a pretty wide opening in the back. it was a nice spin on the simple black dress that held a big of edge to it. “oh this would totally hug your curves in all the right places, as well as showing off a nice bit of skin for all the mouths to drool over,” she teased with a small wink. sunni had already picked out three dresses for sky to try on, all of them different than the next. while one was bright a vibrant, the other was dark and mysterious. of course she lived by the motto that everyone deserved a pretty black dress, as she has countless that are always her go to whenever she wants something simple yet sexy at the same time. “what do you think, should i add it to the pile? let’s be honest, i’m probably going to buy you more than one dress today. i mean, tonight will most definitely not be the last time i drag you out with me.” she was beyond excited that she finally was able to get sky out of the house and out to have some fun. sunni already had a night planned out for them, and honestly, she needed it more than anything. it was time for her to bounce from the emotional roller coaster that happened a little while ago now, and she was dying to get back to the party scene she loved so much.
