     he remembers the time when choosing a fucking cereal was an easy and quick task ― now he was standing, watching the colorful packages and trying to decide which one will be the less likely to put cass through sugar-rush and will not require a lot of talking to make her eat it. out of the corner of his eye wolf could see cassandra shifting a little in her seat ―― but she didn’t shift to him but to the person on the opposite side of aisle. wolf turned, warning on the end of his tongue when she touched gently the person and said with a seriousness only three years old can muster ――   “   the blue one is better.   “   and nodded. wolf huffed under his breath, feeling the headache coming.   “   cass, don’t bother others. i’m sorry, we are still learning about personal space and boundaries,   “   he added to the person, smiling politely and shooting cass a look.

   he was locking his doors, a black backpack on his left shoulder, right hand wrapped around the tiny hand of cass, who was almost bouncing in place. wolf was already tried of this little adventure, knowing full well how energetic she can be, but ― he promised her that they will go to zoo today, so to zoo they go. ( last time he broken a promise ― to make spaghetti for dinner instead of calling for pizza ― cass pout and then cried a little bit, and he couldn’t go through that again. no. )  

   he heard the other doors cracking open and turned his head just a little bit, to see with a corner of eyes who it was ― but didn’t really needed it, as cass already tried to run away, half-yelling enthusiastic   ‘   miss courtier!   ‘   .  he kept the kid close, taking the keys out of lock finally and turning to look at his neighbor.   “   hello,   “   he managed to greet her before cass jumped up and down, smiling brightly to the woman and  ―   ‘   daddy is taking me to zoo, miss courtier!   ‘   .   she will be the death of him, for sure.

   he heard the sound of little feet running right behind his back and giggle echoing through the hallway as cass run to the door.   ‘   good luck with that, it’s locked,   ‘   wolf thought, smirking a little ; it shouldn’t amuse him as much as it was, but well. maybe if he would be a better man. he made sure that the pasta will not burn and turn, following his daughter ( still couldn’t wrap his head around that, damn it, ruby, ) to the door she so determinedly tried to open.

   “   it’s locked, cass,   “   he said gently, picking her up and unlocking the two locks before putting his hand on the handle and opening the door.   “   look who got here,   “   wolf smiled, lifting a brow and looking at his friend just as cass smiled brightly at the man and said uncle kai!, hands already reaching out to the blonde.   “   wait, let him come in, little one,   “   he added, moving to make space for malachi to get in.   “   beer will be okay for you, malachi?   “

   he should be more careful - most of time he was but really, after getting his life invaded by a kid, wolf found out that grocery shopping becomes a lot more complicated. making sure he followed the list and that cass don’t put everything she sees in the shopping car and glare at anybody who comes too close for his liking was challenging in a way he didn’t experience even in his almost-ex-but-not-really job... and that was kind of scary. 

   anyway, he took away a lollipop from a greedy little hand ― cassandra, no. ― and turned to put it back where it belonged, bumping into a woman behind him.   “   fuc― ―    “   he started, catching himself in the last moment and looked at her, hoping that cass did not caught that.   “   i’m sorry,   “   wolf said, smiling politely.   “   didn’t saw you, are you okay?   “   he could be decent person when he wanted, shut up kai.

Taking her morning run, dogs in tow, was Eveline’s favorite part of the day. It got her blood flowing first thing in the morning, and gave her time to think in peace. Too wrapped up in her thoughts, she didn’t notice there was someone else nearby until one dog stopped and the other came to a stop, tugging on their leashes and nearly toppling her. Righting herself, Evy greeted them politely. “Good morning.”

   he stopped, looking down at the animal and tilted his head just a little bit. he adjusted a hold on the sleepy three years old, who was pushing her face into his neck --- don’t want, daddy , she murmured when he wake her up this morning and well, he might be weak and let her nap on him. he let his eyes travel to the dog owner's face and he smiled politely, corner of his lips lifting just slightly.   “   morning,   “   he answered, voice quieter than normal.   “   are they friendly or should i fear to move?   “   he added with a trace of humour.
