finally standing in front of kyu and having time for this, for them, let ivy relax. it felt like she was finally able to take a breath again, and the exhaustion of the past week hit her all at once. she took a couple steps forward and let herself gently fall into kyu, wrapping her arms around him, with her cheek against his chest. “yeah, i did.” there was a tiredness in her voice, even if she didn’t want there to be. “how have you been? i didn’t call you out here to late, did i?” ivy pulled away from him, looking up to meet his eyes. there’d been a tension in the air around them lately, but she didn’t want to say anything. the risk of founding out it was all in her head felt too great. “i brought food, you got the snacks?” she situated herself comfortably on the blanket, immediately digging through the bad of food she packed. “is there anything you want first?” 

Whatever he had been thinking before was silenced the minute he felt ivy hug him. The immediate relaxation and feeling at ease with her, he melted against her, hugging her back to him. If they wanted to spend the rest of the time just laying against one another ,that was fine with him too. Kyu heard the tiredness in her voice, causing him to lightly rub her back in a soothing manner. as she pulled away for a moment, he looked back at her and responded  “Did you forget I usually stay up late?” he chuckles, some nights it was hard for him to fall asleep. Plus, he was excited and nervous at the same time to meet with her. kyu could sense the change in atmosphere, though, he didn’t let himself think too much into it, for the fear he may misunderstand. “Snacks for later.” he did enjoy food so when she asked about what he wanted first, he smiled. “Gimbap.” he states as he moves to sit on the blanket as well. “and you?”

ivy felt awful. she’d set up a little picnic with kyu a while ago and kept having to push it back due to all the work she’s been getting. they were finally supposed to meet today but one of her schedules lasted longer than anticipated. now it was late and all she wanted was to meet her friend for some quality time. she shot him a text as she entered her apartment, hoping that he’d respond, but ivy wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t. it didn’t take long to get a reply and the hecate girl immediately packed all the prepared food she’d left in her fridge that was meant for much earlier. she took a quick look in the mirror and fixed a couple fly-aways, not having to touch up her make-up. it didn’t take long for her to get to their agreed upon location in the gardens and set up with the help of a little magic. her stomach was starting to feel a bit funny now that she was waiting for him. would he be mad? no, no. kyu wasn’t the type. she found herself always overthinking stuff like this when she knew kyu was understanding and very, very patient with her. her thoughts got interrupted by a familiar voice, immediately standing up and stumbling a tiny bit, and that funny feeling from a moment ago moving up to her chest. “kyu, i’m so sorry, if you never want to hang out again i would totally understand. i’m absolutely the worst friend and i will make it up to you soon.”

kyu had arrived at the garden in which they agreed to meet. arriving early, he had laid out the blankets, made sure everything was covered. It was a first real...date? date? was that what it was called? no, no, two friends hanging out. though the more he looked at the setting, the more that the word crossed his mind. he supplied their favorite snacks, he made sure that he had strawberry milk. glancing at his phone, he received a text from ivy and responded with 'no worries, I’ll be here.’  if she was caught up in something else, he’d wait for her, she wasn’t the type to stand someone up. on the outside, he may have looked incredibly calm, on the inside, his heart was racing. his stomach felt like it was doing flips, the anticipation and just wanting to see, her. The minute he had seen her, his eyes brightened, gaze softened, and a feeling of happiness overcome him. “Ivy.” he speaks up as he walks over towards her. Listening as she spoke, he shook his head “nonsense, you made it and you’re here now.” he states with a smile. She was here, and that meant so much already. Looking at her appearance, he reached over to tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear. “you’re not the worst friend, you’re my best friend. did you get here safely?”
