Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness

What I learned from making my first candle
So my first attempt at candle making was a eucalyptus scented soy candle.
What went well:
The trick I used for figuring out how much wax is needed - fill your container with water, and measure how much it holds using a measuring jug. Multiply that by .7 and that = how any grams of wax to use. (200ml x 0.7 = 140 grams of wax)
Adding in the wax dye in tiny chips. You can always add more along the way if you want a darker shade!
What could’ve went better:
Don’t underestimate the importance of being careful when your placing your wick! - you might think it’s one of the simplest parts of the process, but my wick was so off centre and it seriously effected the burn of the candle!
Take time to calculate the right ratio of fragrance oil.
I added my oil at a temperature that was too cool so the fragrance never bonded properly (that’s what’s causing the top of the candle to look wet.
Over-stirring the wax can cause air bubbles
It definitely wasn’t perfect, but I mean it could have been a lot worse! And with a burning time so far of 15 hours, it’s not a bad first attempt...✨watch this space✨
