When I became a stripper, the first week I broke down crying because we went grocery shopping and I could afford fresh produce in my fridge. I could buy fresh foods and start cooking meals from scratch. I could afford fucking salad.

And since I was cooking my own food I was eating way healthier, I lost weight without resorting to starving my self, and I gained muscle tone from dancing.

Soon I had enough money to move, to support my husband when he developed epilepsy, and to pay for school.

I was taking care of my self because my appearance was important for work, and I was taking care of my home because I only had to work two or three days a week to support us.

Say what you want about sex work and stripping but I owe my current medical career to it.

I don't know who needs to hear this but if your friends all tell you to leave your partner because they're not good for you, they're probably right. The notion of "they don't understand!!1!1!1!1!1" is so romanticised in movies but it's often bullshit. Your friends can see the bigger picture better than you can sometimes.
