Night rant about AI-generated illustrations in the context of Caparezza's songs

So, I was looking for a Caparezza sew-on badge.

In Finland there's that thing, students wear boilersuits (opiskelijahaalarit) in colour and design intended for a certain university and field of study. And on them, they attach sew-on badges. And I wondered if there is a Caparezza badge that I could find (not necessary in Finland)

Googling, I ended up on Redbubble. I never got anything from there, but I remember browsing it ages ago. Haven't been there in years, definitely not after the AI boom. So I typed in what I was looking for and,,,

And I found pins. Some of them with original art, some of them with the symbol from Exuvia's cover.

And then there were those:

So if you're familiar with Capa- or even if you just googled him, you've probably came across the song mentioned, Vieni a Ballare in Puglia. I won't do the whole song analysis here, but what's important:

Caparezza is from Puglia [region in Southern Italy], his pseudonym derives from regional dialect and means as much as Curly Head.

The music is based on pizzica, pugliese type of tarantella.

"ballare" (to dance) is an euphemism for "morire" (to die), which is indicated in the intro.

The text is written from pov of a local talking to a tourist, implicitly anyone for whom Puglia is not a native region.

It is breaking the taboo by singing not about How Beautiful And Idyllic (Southern) Italy/Puglia Is, but how you have to acknowledge the "other side of the postcard" (OSotP), the socioeconomic and ecological probl- disasters. The reality which outsiders do not see, do not want to see, do not realise exists. The constrast between Puglia from the pages of a tourist brochure and Puglia from the pages of a crime chronicle.

The lyrical subject is a great denouncer of the OSotP, does not try to defend anyone or themself, even delivers a self-criticizing statement, and asks the tourist to just. leave them. he doesn't want to ruin their vacation further by uncovering more of the OSotP.

The song ends in a heart-wrenching apostrophe directed towards his home region, meaning essentially "I love you, I will die without you, but I know staying here will kill me too".

It is a culturally important piece. It is also widely misunderstood/misused. For some reason people ((fxcking ITALIANS who cannot excuse themselves by saying they don't know the language and don't understand the lyrics)) play it on weddings, and he describes it as "una coltellata sulle spalle", a stab in the back. He says it's not the problem that people dance to this music, the problem is that he is sure that at the given moment noone cares about the message carried, that the song is treated as a,,,, dancing song about dancing. "Dancing" is in the title after all, isn't it? If people dancing on on their weddings to Vieni a Ballare in Puglia with the meaning flying completely over their heads is not dystopian, I don't know what is.

Wordplay: title can be translated both as a) you (plural) are not the State (reference to Louis XIV's famous L'État, c'est moi) and b) it has not been you (plural), which makes more sense in the last part of the song.

Quote referenced: Non siete Stato voi, che brindate con il sangue di chi tenta di far luce sulle vostre vite oscure (A/B who make toasts with the blood of those who try to shed light on your dark lives)

This one is also a denunciatory piece. It has a form of a manifest directed toward the politics ru(i)nning the country. What I particularly hate about what I have just witnessed, what I would like to know, and some other statements:

First of all, the name of """artist""". I cannot comprehend how the fxck would come up with this. "Artists for AI" sounds like "Cows for Butchers".

The lack of respect (obviously, AI does not comprehend the idea of respecting intellectual property, it's like being mad at the orphan crushing machine that it crushes orphans. It does what it has been programmed to do) or any comprehension of the lyrics "illustrated" with AI beyond the literal level. This is not a crime, I'm just insanely bothered by it.

You know those people who make videos for pre-existing songs and upload them on yt, and EVERY PHRASE/WORD/SENTENCE is illustrated with a corresponding image depicting the words that the performer is singing at a given moment? This is the vibe. The same level of text comprehension. What purpose does it serve?

Who are those "designs" made for? - this one actually creates more questions that I would like to know answers for.

To the grave I will prefer the shittiest human-made illustration to the cleanest, anatomically correct, smoothest, soulless, AI-generated one. In the first one, there had been an idea, an interpretation, a thought. None of these elements have the sssslightest possibility to exist in the process of AI-generating.

I feel like AI-generating illustrations is paralell to fast fashion.

To people who use AI to "create" illustrations: mi ricordano un'opera di Manzoni, credo; e non parlo di Alessandro ma Manzoni Piero. You are not artists, and don't you dare call yourselves that.

It is a sssssuper chaotic post but I don't remember the last time when I was so enraged that I needed to rant about it.

Mieszkańcy lub częsty bywalcy dużych miast: czy u Was też mówi się, że jedzie się do *nazwa miasta*, gdy jedzie się do centrum?

Na przykładzie: Gdańszczanie (głównie starsi) często jadąc z dzielnic innych niż Śródmieście w stronę Gdańska Głównego mówią, że jadą do Gdańska, mimo że są już przecież w Gdańsku i z Gdańska wyruszyli.

W Lublinie i Toruniu się z tym nie spotkałam, ale to mimo wszystko mniejsze miasta.
