I love how Astarion actually sees the Dark Urge. He may be distrusting and a bit uncaring at first, as he is of everyone, but he clocks that there’s something wrong with Durge early and is never offput by it. In fact, he often quite enjoys the darkness of the urges even when the others don’t, or are doing their best to gloss it over for their own comfort.

Astarion gets to thank Tav/Durge after killing Cazador for seeing him and still loving him and for trusting the cagey vampire it was objectively stupid to trust. All I want is for Durge to be able to do the same. The most beautiful thing that’s so specific to their romance is how truly mutual and reciprocal their connection is.

I just want Durge to be able to tell Astarion, of course I saw you, of course I embraced you— how could I not, when you saw me first?
