#puts my clown makeup on#ada speaks#i love making cis men genderfucked in their own way#guy who does not give two shits about love and romance he's just parent mode#it's advanced comphet he just wants a family because his own was killed (twice)#he's so chained to the idea of traditional families despite being happiest in a nontraditional one#consistently thrust into the sole patriarchal role which he rejects over and over#he thrives when 'coparenting' alongside another strong person able to take the reins and protect themselves#i'd argue both kaoru and haruka fall into this category. neither are particularly 'motherly'. both are capable and responsible#mirei takes advantage of kiryu's blindness (perhaps subconsciously) because she is a maternal figure offering to be that for haruka#'every girl needs a mother' and kiryu feels he will always be inadequate. *he* didn't grow up with a mother#he mothered yumi and nishiki and developed 'feelings' for yumi as was expected of him#but it's described as him taking on a paternal role with her in 0 which i think is how it would've continued if not for yumi's feelings#he has always been the parentified child and this is why he connects with haruka as well#he and kiyomi unknowingly coparent separately as well as together once they meet and the two have a comfortable platonic friendship#he is noticeably turned off by mayumi's mothering of him in the context of a sexual relationship but he still wants her company#his relationship with the concept of motherhood is fascinating to me#especially in contrast to his past in the yakuza and the male dominated patriarchal structure of it#his childhood; effectively being raised by a single father which later continues as he is set to become patriarch and later chairman himsel#but he rejects and runs from traditional fatherhood
