——despite a sometimes brusque demeanour,  Sofía is a genuinely kind soul. she lacks empathy, but is not incapable of sympathy. if someone is having a hard time, she’ll try to do what she can to cheer them up; bring a gift, a box of tissues, a shoulder to cry on etc. and mostly she does this not expecting anything in return.     it could be said her kindness is easily taken advantage of and you’d probably be right; emotional maturity is not on par with her intellectual maturity. she can be quite gullible. this is a result of a secluded childhood.  Sofía hasn’t had a lot of interpersonal experiences ( boyfriends, close friend etc. ) to learn & grow from & helping people makes her feel good.      she’s had a few stern telling’s off regarding building security early in her career from a Turk or two because she was easily convinced that ‘oh i just lost my card can i come in?’. luckily, the few people who tried it were only relatives of workers or the odd nosy independent reporter.      Sofía learned pretty quickly not to do this.

——in her field, Sofía is a genius. street-smarts comes a close second. emotional maturity―as touched on above―is an area for improvement, as is social skills, some might argue. but an early childhood curiosity turned into an obsession, a gifted mind latching onto the budding field of information technology & not letting go since.      as for how she acquired this knowledge, although she started life in a traditional education, IT was definitely not on the curriculum. that was for the likes of the eastern continent with it’s growing cities & Sofía had to beg & plead with her tutors to help her learn/acquire resources etc. but once said resources became available, she went off & learned in her own time. so in a sense, Sofía is self-taught until she ‘lands’ the scholarship in junon.

——although naturally an introvert, Sofía does enjoy the company of others, though she prefers friends over strangers. she is bright & bubbly at gatherings, but this is mainly to ensure she’s well-received & finds a group of people to click with as soon as possible. she prefers a smaller group to hang with.     though her social batteries always run out fairly early; she can’t keep going into the early hours. usually, once the initial buzz of alcohol begins to wear off,  Sofía would quite like to go home, thanks.     a more intimate gathering with friends is almost always preferred, though she’ll never say no to going out & having fun on the town. you might just end up with a whiny sack of potatoes hours before everyone else is ready to go home.      as far as meetings go, she’ll always approach new people with a certain air of professionalism, though sometimes it’s short-lived. especially if she’s underestimated. she’s very much a ‘lover or hate at first sight’ person and mostly, she’s fine with this.     but she’s fine having loads of friends, so long as she doesn’t have to see them or speak to them constantly; another reason people may take her the wrong way. she’ll leave you on read if she’s busy/tired/not feeling social. and she tends to be fairly busy; Shinra HQ is a big place with lots of wayward cups of coffee.

——film making! but not in a necessarily traditional sense? she doesn’t aim to make a feature with a plot & actors etc. but it’s more... artistic? she’ll film what she thinks is interesting; a flickering security monitor at the train station, a bag caught in a tree etc. just a load of different, unusual clips that she’ll collect & mash together for fun. usually with a shit-ton of filters than sometimes distort the images beyond all recognition.      Sofía posts her creations on whatever gaia’s equivalent of youtube is under a moniker & has a reasonable following, mostly from the artistic community. a few conspiracy nuts who insist she’s captured the occasional scandalous piece of footage.     as an extension of this hobby, Sofía also dabbles in sound-art to accompany her weird & wacky features and the process is much the same; stop to record interesting sounds. mash them together in her free time.     it’s not something she’s too vocal about; it’s literally just a thing she does for fun & relaxation and doesn’t enjoy having it criticised by people she knows. it’s not that she’s embarrassed; she just can’t be bothered to explain the process & reasoning to people who just don’t get it, man. she also enjoys embroidery & stitches away while on calls etc.

——Sofía would describe it as mostly happy, sometimes lonely. it did have a profound impact on how her life developed; because she was at home a lot taking care of herself & the household, she kinda developed her interest in information technology as an escape to assuage herself during long periods of parental absence.      this extended to video games when she was older & the technology moved into the home-entertainment sector.     also as a result of this, she had to grow up pretty fast. while most kids were out playing, she was indoors cooking, cleaning & helping her parents. not something she resents all too much; she’s a smart kid who understood times were getting tough.     part of her kinda wishes she’d been able to run around with all the other kids on the beach? but then again, Sofía is proud of her specialised talent & knows she’d never be where she was without it.
