Update: Now 9 year old has finished ATLA and loved it. Interestingly, she skipped around and did not watch the show in order.

Her 5 and 2 year old little siblings overheard the 9 year old quoting Zuko quoting Iroh from The Boiling Rock. And now the little ones sometimes run around the house saying, “Leaf me alone. I’m bushed!”

3 Year Old Reaction: Housekeeping/Programming Update

Two years ago, my then 3 year old started watching Avatar the Last Airbender. I was stoked that she was watching my favorite show of all time and I blogged here about her reactions to each episode. (#3 year old reaction) Unfortunately, she never made it past the Waterbending Scroll. The action sequences got too intense for her and she was too scared to continue. (And that was just Season 1!) So, sadly, we stopped.

I’m glad I captured her priceless first reactions in blog form. And…I am happy to report that my now 5 year old has found her way back to ATLA: she’s reading all of the comics! She is obsessed with them and sneak-reads them after “lights out.” She asked me yesterday why Zuko’s face looks weird. She invents her own forms of bending. (“Mom, look! I’m bowl bending!”) She pronounces Azula “Aluza.” And she still likes Katara and tries to waterbend in the shower.

I’m still hoping to lure her back to the show. She says, “Maybe when I’m six.”
