Hooray for companion pieces!  Also, holy shit, I think this is the fastest thing I've done since I started drawing again.  It only took me a day!  (...Usually I take like... five days... I'm slow, okay? TAT)

I don't like the way Wolfwood's suit came out; I need more practice drawing and lighting clothing and fabric folds.  Bah!

WE GET MORE AFTER THE PROMISE?!?!?!! OH HAPPY DAY, JOYOUS OCCASION AHHH

I was in Tokyo a few weeks ago and had the pleasure of meeting the artists behind the “Avatar: The Last Airbender” graphic novels.  I was surprised to learn the studio of Gurihiru, consists of a team of two!  Chifuyu Sasaki (center) does all the penciling and inking and Naoko Kawano (left) is the colorist.  They bring a really charming sensibility to their work that, while stylistically different from the show, feels very “Avatar.”  It’s been fun to collaborate with them, as well as the talented writer of the comics, Gene Yang.  Really, I just check in with them from time to time — they’re doing all the hard work!

Volume 3 of “The Promise” comes out in October.  And Gurihiru and Gene are currently hard at work on volume 1 of the next comic storyline, “The Search.”  The search for whom, you ask?  Oh wait, is that who I think it is behind Aang and Zuko?!
