Calling it off

There's no avoiding it: I'm going to have to admit that the 365 challenge is over.

No, I didn't complete it. On the contrary, I failed to keep up the pace. I could restart, but seeing how it's highly unlikely that I'll be having more free time the following year, that seems a bit futile. Instead, I'm calling it off, and converting this to a regular photoblog, without the publication rules.

Perhaps I'll even try reblogging some things.

Day 20 - Ford Model T.

The Technical Museum is a volunteer run museum of various machinery and vehicles. Pictured is the brake light of a Ford Model T from the early 1920s.

Day 19 - Ooh, balloons!

The shops in downtown Bergen arranged a common event called "ByLørdag" (City Saturday). I went there because a photography shop had a contest, awarding about 1750 usd in photo gear for the best photo. I sent in this picture. I had better ones, for instance one of a little boy pressing his nose against the window of a baker's shop. Unfortunately I couldn't use them without a photo release from a parent...which I do not have. This child in this photo is not identifiable, so no such problem exists.

Day 18 - Why so serious?

Day 17 - Incoming finger four

A local shopping centre has its own flock of geese in a pond. I remember these from when I was little. I tried getting some shots without them seeing me, but they're very used to getting fed by visitors (it's allowed), so they're pretty alert. Naturally, they spotted me, and came right at me...in a finger-four formation.

Day 16 - Urban Foraging

I went with some people "urban foraging", that is, hunting for food in shop dumpsters. Lots of perfectly fine food is just thrown out, either because of the sell-by date (which isn't anywhere near indicative of the quality of the food) or because it doesn't look pretty enough. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freeganism

Day 15 - Which way?

Simply the road markings near where I live. Had to wait for nighttime in order to get 30 seconds without any traffic interrupting the shot.

Day 13 - Crashed car at Ulven.

I drove past a car by the side of the road and stopped to check for people. It looked like it had happened some time the night before, which the police confirmed when I called them.

If anyone wonders, it is - or rather was - an Audi Quattro.

Day 11 - Surrounded by darkness

This was taken during a photo shoot for a local theatre group. They are putting on a play based on a poem by Rolf Jacobsen called "Tanker ved avlytting av et radioteleskop" (in english: "Thoughts upon Listening In on a Radio Telescope").

I haven't seen the play, but I've been told that the dark figures represent the dreams and/or thoughts of the girl in the middle. To me, the scene looks ominous, so I decided to enhance that by reducing it to two colors and making the area around her darker.

Day 8 - Rehearsal of The Seagull.

Day 7 - Norwegian Coastal Express Pier

2012.04.16 This is where the ships of the Norwegian Coastal Express lie when they dock in Bergen. Camera mounted on tripod just inside the ISPS fence (with me outside it reaching in to control the camera). Day 5 - Mary had a porcelain lamb.

I borrowed a flash unit from my little brother and experimented a bit with using it along with my own. Now I want to buy myself a 2nd flash. The figurine belongs to my mother. I'm not sure of its age, but I would guess it's from the 1960s or -70s.

Unfortunately I didn't have time to shoot a better subject for today's entry.

Day 4 - Overflowing rain gutter.

The garage rain gutter is broken, causing the water to spill over the sides. The hardest part of this shot was keeping the lens dry from stray drops. I'd also like to point out that the sun was out at the time, thus the yellowish color.
