Reflection Process and final
For my reflection, I decided to take the feedback I received and really run with it. I decided to make a woodblock print since I hadn't so far in my process, and because this is a reflection, I wanted to show my word somehow. For the design, I looked for other obsolete objects from the mid-19th century, the time when chromoloxylography printing was used to show other things from that time period that have also been lost. I also wrote Lost in Time to be read on the woodblock because that type of printing has been lost over time, but once you take a print, it would be read as lost in the invisible because printing is what has been put into the digital world. I also made the wood block look like it's been sitting in the sun for a while, and it's like sun damage.

My design getting laser cut.

Final laser cut.

Then I made six prints, and as you went through them, I gradually scratched off the definition to further push the idea of being lost, and then I had to digitally printed version to show how the print is actually ok compared to the lost process of chromoxylography.

4d Final
After my 1 on 1 with Paul, I had the idea to audible show old, handmade woodblock printing to modern digital art. First, you’ll hear the sounds of drawing on the wood, then carving wood, mixing ink, rolling it and pressing prints by hand. Then, the sounds change to a computer turning on, designing on the computer and getting the print ready, then printing. I thought that I could have this playing in the background as you look at my work so you can physically see and hear the difference in the processes. It could also make you think about what we lose and gain when we switch from doing things by hand to using technology.

3d process pt4
Added lights to the back and hand, and I also made some more changes to my 3d. Also buying a gold marker to make the gold lines at the back straighter.
I still have to add more wires, and I'm not happy with how the digital is working I think I need to make it blend more seamlessly.

week 11 critique
I was still stuck on 4D and reflective but also because I've had finals in other classes I haven’t had time to work on GD4. The pressure is starting to get to me now, and I know I have a lot to do but I still think I can pull it off. I talked over some ideas with Paul, and he also helped inspire me for my reflective. He reminded me that the reflection doesn’t have to be just my writing initiatives and showed me this laser-cut example of a student's reflection which gave me the idea to do something similar.
For 4D, he also suggested contrasting old vs. new technologies. I remembered I have an old Macintosh computer at home, so I had the idea to have my new computer designing on my old one to show how designing has evolved.
The example paul showed me:

Writing Initiative #6
I Presented my 4d and reflective ideas again as I was still struggling to come up with something. for the reflection, I suggested having other obsolete items like cassettes, etch a sketch, etc. and having my writing written on them. It relates to my previous works cuz I am showing other items that have also become obsolete. My classmates thought this was a good idea but were concerned about how I would get things in such a short time and about how I would bring all of this to class.
As for 4d my idea was to make a digital version of my 2d but make it interactive and have it moving within the digital world. My classmates were a bit reluctant with this idea and were confused about what it was really showing, so that kind of threw me off. It was suggested that I make an audio recording on a cassette explaining the printing process.
Refrence for 4d:

Writing Initiative #5
I wasn't able to go to class today since I was sick, so I didn't present anything this week. However, I did show my work to some friends in class to get their feedback. The work I showed them was my 3D piece. This relates to my 2D work because I am using it to show the physical takeover of the digital world. In the 2D piece, I was showing how the digital world contrasts with physical work. Some strengths they noticed in my work are how well I'm portraying the physical takeover and that they liked how I used a smaller canvas for the digital part because it looks nicer. However, they did mention that I should keep the color around the base of the hand, as right now the digital world seems too dark. They also suggested that I add lights not only at the back but also in the front and in the hand of the robot.
I’ve kind of left both reflective and 4D work until last because I keep playing with different ideas, and I’m still not 100 percent sure what I should do. Every time I come up with an idea, I start doubting myself and not liking it. My 3D work is also taking up a lot of my time, and whenever I have time to work on GD4, that's the project I focus on most. I’m also having the most fun creating that one.

3d process pt2

I started painting the 'real' hand but I didn't like how the colour looked so I started to scrape it off, but then I had the idea of what if as I have the wire in the hand it is turning the hand chrome to match the robot. I also later ended up taking the wire off and changed from having it hot glued down with clear hot glue to using silver glue. I also started to add colour to the digital but I didn't like how it was turning out I also thought I should use a bit smaller of a canvas and I ended up restarting. The canvas with no colour on it is the restarted version.
I also took apart remotes that I thrifted to use the circuit board.

starting to create 3d
I bought the 2 hands, and I started to paint them. I also started laying out how I want my pieces to work, the white parts coming out of the paintings are where I want the wires to be injected into the soul. I also covered a canvas in wood to make it look like a desk. everything is still a work in progress, but so far, I think everything is turning out ok.
I also mixed paint with cornstarch to try and make it thicker to be able to have parts being pulled out of the painting.

3d sketch
red will be strings and blue and purple paint will be pulled into the digital. also some ideas for the background of the digital and the soul
feedback:
make the red wires instead
put the 'desk' laying flat and the digital coming through the wall rather then having them both on the wall
put lights in the back to make it stand out more
add some thing to the desk it seems plain right now

Writing Initiative #4
Some of the handmade and digital work could be blended together more cohesively. They also liked the quote I used and thought it represented my word well. One feedback I received about that was that the text seemed too small, so if I wanted that to be the main focus, I should make that more prominent. They also liked my idea of framing my work as if it were a print rather than having it as a tapestry.
I showed an image of two canvases: one of a regular hand coming out with a paintbrush and the other being a robot hand. The two canvases are connected by handmade prints/digital prints to show how handmade goes into digital. I was told that this would be a cool idea, but it doesn't seem very 3D, and I should work on it more. For the 4D aspect, it was suggested that I could create an interactive experience where everyone carves wood. I thought that was a good idea, but with the limited time to present, I don't think I’ll be able to pull that off. So, I need to keep working on my 4D idea.

Writing Initiative #3
I am most focused on 3d for the next crit since I have a solid idea for that and am excited to start that. Some materials I am thinking of using are 2 canvases, two hands one robot-looking and one mannequin, digital and handmade prints and paint to make one side look like the digital world and the other real world. Right now I haven't attempted anything I have just been trying to think of a solid concept.
Out of the four topics, the one I fear the most and anticipate to be the most difficult is 4D. My word is very literal and relates to an actual process of printing, so when trying to create a 4D project that departs from the word, it makes me nervous. I also don't have any ideas on what to do.
