It may be that it is an issue of caste, there was a case where a Norseman used to be ashamed of being born of an Irish slave till he learned his mother was a princess which reversed his opinion heavily. It could be that Lopt’s mother status is higher then that of his father
Why Lopt was called ‘Laufeyjarson’
Indeed: old Scandinavian peoples didn’t bear their mother’s name, as Lopt does, but their father’s. So why would a matronymic be attributed when it came to him? First of all, his father is still a baffling case today. Even scholars of traditional norse paganism and its history can’t seem to put their finger on his identity, although he is known to be a Jotun, bearing the name Farbauti. However, Lopt’s mother is widely accepted as being Laufey, an ásynjur- whom we also know very little about. She is speculated to be a giant yet still, due to her status as part of the Æsir, she may have given her name to Lopt when he joined the Æsir through a blood pact with Ódinn. This way, Lopt would be accepted among the Æsir as ‘the son of Laufey’, a title that made for sense for the Gods to remember, as they were already acquainted with his mother.

This is an interesting take I haven’t see. Before, but it makes sense that being married to the gods is a more religious thing similar to the celibacy of priests, monks and nuns.
Your opinion on godspousing, if you haven't answered this before?
So my immediate response was to say that I didn’t have a great opinion on this, but that’s wrong. I believe it’s a real and genuine thing. I believe it’s very ritualistic, and that it’s not something that can be done lightly or at a young age.
I believe like any marriage, you need to comprehend and understand exactly what you’re doing and what compromises you’ll be making.
For instance, nuns are considered married to the church. And in order to be a nun, they have to go through a lot.

I’m getting tired of this, Edward Butler is a greater pagan than most of the cowards here will ever be. He’s hosted conferences and talked and has tried very hard to expand paganism into new places and areas we never were before and all you can do is call him a fascist.
To be honest I’m ashamed to be even called a pagan when snakes like you also call yourselves that, so wrapped up in your own little world that you have to drag everyone else into it.
Edward Butler is not a fascist and if anything he’s twice the man any else here is.

I mean, that’s strange but generally speaking you’d know if a god was really reaching out to you. Most historical sources have them just appear in dreams, others just outright pop out. Perhaps visit a good Hellenic oracle?
Calling anyone who knows anything about deities!!
How do you know if a deity is trying to contact you? I’ve never been very immersed in the idea of deities and polytheism, but lately I’ve been noticing a lot of weird stuff.
A few weeks ago, walking along the street, there were HUNDREDS of dead snails lining the road. I just chalked it up to weather change cause it made sense to me with the cold kicking in.
And then, just a few days ago, I was walking in the woods and I found an entire dead deer skeleton. It was relatively new as I could still smell it, but it was still an odd find considering the ‘woods’ I mentioned is a stretch of about 200 yards between two suburban neighborhoods.
That was when I started to wonder if it was more than coincidence and, since then, occurrences like that have been increasing.
Since I learned about him when I was around ten I’ve had a strange affinity for Hades and what he represents. I just chalked it up for my interest in the macabre. But, I’m beginning to wonder if perhaps Hades is trying to reach out?
I don’t have enough knowledge on the subject, but, any thoughts?

Well where did we get his name from? Which document or monument?
Does anybody have some info about Ares/Mars-Onuris?
Because internet doesn't seem to give anything, like, from all the syncretic gods like Serapis, Isis-Aphrodite, Hermanubis and etc etc, this divinity doesn't have any information :/

Then of course it is.
Is it okay if I say I'm falling in love with Ares?

Sorta depends, do you mean devotional love or personal romantic love. Because if it’s the latter I understand but you should realise that your love isn’t going to be returned in the way you want it.

Sorry, I believe I was referring to Chinese beliefs but I can’t quite remember if it was that or Hinduism now.
Colors and gems aren't historically related to the theoi (many deities are referred to in saffron colored robes for example), so I am automatically distrustful of a resource listing those. The only exception is lapis lazuli and Apollon (because of Hyakinthos), really.

Isn’t specific colours of a god more of a eastern belief? I know mesoamerican also practises it.

Advertising for the Imperator Scottorum association.
Hello!  I decided, while i wait for the prince to return from vacation to take it upon myself and advertise on behalf of the Imperator Scottorum association, in particular it’s society of Ancient Irish Religion.
The prince of all Ireland is interested in Gaelic paganism and wishes to create a new druidic order or society that will faithfully serve the gods for the nation, its country and the royal family.  Some of the differences between this order and other groups is quite simple, for one we have the royal aspect, having a high king of which we an uphold the ancient system of high kingship and sacral kingship, an important thing to Gaelic pagans of old. In addition to this we also plan to follow heavily the historical sources to an extreme amount, ensuring that all of our practises primarily occured in the historical faith and not from modern sources such as Wicca or other practises.  In addition we also have the unique set of branches and goals including druids, bards and Faith or Ovates to best follow the historical system. After the council becomes established we also hope to craft our own pagan texts of mythology and poetry of which the pagans may follow and for the druids to memorise.  If you’re interested please contact me! For more information go to: https://www.ard-riocht.org/general-5

That doesn’t answer my question, how can you look at history and what the communist regime did to pagans, infact what about what communist regimes do now? It has only harmed native faiths and destroyed pagan communities and yet you seem to think that we should aspire to that? Why?
Controversial post but I want to ask personally, how can anyone be communist and a pagan, especially Romuva or Rodnovery? Communist Russia not only oppressed the two religions heavily and sent the founders of both religions to Gulags to die but also oppressed and murdered Siberian religious leaders and political figures. How can you look at a regime that has treated pagans the worst since Christian times and support that?

Not a Titan worshipper but titan worship was common based on which Titan it was. Prometheus unbound or some play from Aeschylus describes them being released from memory. But they behave like gods do.
I had some questions about Titan worship. Do any of you practice it? If so who do you worship? What are the differences if any between worshiping a god like Apollo or a Titan like Helios? Is there a historical basis for Titan worship? I would love to hear your guys thoughts and experiences.

I disagree, pagan religions are built upon tradition and ritual, breaking these tradition and abandoning ritual isn’t a path polytheists should follow.
The gods don't give a shit about how you worship them, it's only important that you give, for the sake of your willingness to give. A gift freely given is one which may prompt a gift in return. Whether this gift be of meat, a song, a cake, water, juice, does not matter. What matters is if you willingly decided to give an offering, because the cycle of gifting is what keeps us in link with the gods.
You don't need to do trance, or magic to be connected to the gods. The gods are all around us, every day, in our lives, and not in some incomprehensible way. They're part of nature, the powers which move it around and make it function.
If someone tells you you're doing it wrong, they're the ones doing a wrong. If the gods are wanting something specific, it doesn't mean it applies to everyone. Your relationship with the gods is simply different than mine or anyone else's. Who ever says otherwise obviously didn't read their history, or understand the concepts we know today. They're stuck in their view, and you don't have to listen or argue with them. Worship in your own way, worship because you feel good about it, worship because it fills you with passion. Praise the sun, praise the moon. All the gods who we know or don't.
May Thor protect you, Frigg guide you. 💜

I can’t understand how someone can be a pagan and not worship the gods, so to be a beginner you must inherently worship a god.

Why so? These practises continue today in every non-christian society and even in christian societies. I would prefer we sacrifice our animals rather then slaughter them, it is more humane.
How do u feel about animal sacrifice. Isn't that there religious freedom?
It is the religious freedom of every individual to believe whatever they want, but that freedom does not extend to taking away the freedom of others and causing them harm. Your right to strike me stops where my body begins, and the same is true of animals. Animal sacrifice is morally abhorrent, and is only present in so many religions because their holy texts, like all texts, were coloured by the context they were written in. That doesn’t make these practices necessary or relevant today, and very few modern religions actually mandate it. These practices should be left in the past, alongside religious persecution of all kinds.
