Bianca just raised an eyebrow at the girl, putting a glass of water in front of her. “Yes Piccolo amore. He would very much be upset, as would I.” Okay so she was a little out of touch with English, having spent the last few years mostly back in Venice
“You need to stay in school. It will help you in the long run.”
“Penny doesn’t have to go to school.” She complained, though she knew that wasn’t fair, Penny was a Dryad, their situations were slightly different. “Auntie Lou says the Amazons are pretty cool too. She thought about joining them once.”

Mona, who was generally known for never being happy to see anyone, gave a sigh of relief when she walked into the kitchen and spied her aunt. She dumped her bag on the floor and slumped down on one of the bar stools at the counter, “Thank the Gods you’re here! Do you think Papa would be mad if I dropped out of school and joined the hunt?”

“Did you come for my birthday?” Eliza asked hopefully. She was a little early, but December 4th was just around the corner and there was a party to attend at the Jackson house. “We’re gonna go to Luca’s and have a pool party ‘cause they have a really cool swimming pool.”
Thalia scooped up her niece in an enveloping hug as she watched her come towards her. A wicked grin took of her face as she regarded how damn big this kid.
“Hey there, short stack! It’s been a while, huh?”

It had occurred to me that sometime after Eliza’s birth, maybe when she was about five, Thalia would leave the Hunt. She’s realized by now that it’s probably too late to avoid out living Jason, but she can’t stand the thought of out living her nieces and nephew. She still travels a lot and probably lets the kids think she’s still a hunter because they think it’s so cool, but she doesn’t want to be immortal if it means losing everyone.

Zoey was silent for a long moment, clearly startled by the strange man in her back yard, but then she recovered, shaking her head and crossing her arms, “No. Mommy says she’s coming tonight and staying for a while week and a half ‘cause she’s gotta be here for Liza’s birthday.”
Luca perked up at the mention of his friend’s birthday, turning to Luke to explain excitedly, “Eliza Grace is my best friend. We’re going to have a pool party ‘cause she’s turning eleven like me.”
He was grinning and choking back a laugh as he listened to the boy. It was cute thinking how excited he was. He tore his attention away when he heard the second voice. It was another spitting image of Annabeth, well at least to him, standing in front of him. “Aunt Thalia? She’s here?” His heart raced and he had the internal struggle of desperately wanting to see her and wanting to run the other way.

Eleven year old Elizabeth Grace was busy having a jousting tournament with her barbies when she heard the door open, but when she saw the girl standing in the doorway, she quickly abandoned them and rushed towards her for a hug, “Auntie!”

Luke Castellan. He’d heard that name before in campfire stories and rumors that floated around school, rumors that had to be true, he saw that in his mother’s eyes every time she heard about this man. This man who had once been so important to her, she’d named her son after him. He was a lot to live up to. Luca took a deep breath and shook Luke’s hand as firmly as he could, “Lucas Jackson. And this is my sister Zoey. It’s very nice to meet you, Mr. Castellan.”
He didn’t expect a warm welcome, he was a stranger to these kids. It had been too many years since he’s talked to either Percy or Annabeth. When Chiron had told them that they’d be coming for a visit, he hoped that meant their parents, too. He’d been itching to see how they were doing in New Rome, to see the adults they had grown into. But the two were nowhere to be seen. Instead he offered a smile and held out his hand, “Luke Castellan. I teach sword-fighting here.”

Luca’s eyes widened, he had free reign to ask anything he wanted? The inquisitive eleven year old could hardly think of what to ask first, he’d of course heard a lot of rumors of things Luke had tone around school. “Did you really kill Kronos? And teach my mom and dad how to fight? And-”
“LUCA!” He was cut off by the thundering feet of his nine year old sister as she charged into the backyard, sandy blonde hair flying behind her, “Luca! Mommy says Aunt Thalia is...”
She trailed off when she say her brother wasn’t alone, green eyes darting from Luke to Luca with an expression of confusion and sudden shyness.
Eleven?! He’d been dead for eleven plus years? His head spun and he felt dangerously close to throwing up. “I’m…I’m twenty three.” He wasn’t quite sure who grandma chase was, he’d never met Annabeth’s family, well properly that is. He rested his head in his hands as a hurricane tore through his body. He couldn’t tell if his disarray was from the shadow travel or his current situation. “Well I guess it’s only fair for you to know who you’re named after, anything you want to know?” It wasn’t fair him having his mother’s eyes. The more he looked the more of her he saw, sure there was some Percy in there but the kid was all Annabeth in his eyes. He was biased though.

Luca followed suit as Luke sat down, crossing his legs on the grass and resting his elbows on his knees with his chin on his knuckles. His sharp grey eyes were trained carefully on Luke as if he was taking cues from the man. “I’m eleven. How old are you?” He wondered. He could sense Luke’s unrest and he felt a little bad for upsetting his mother’s friend the way he upset her when he asked about his name. He shook his head slowly, “Mom gets really sad when I ask. Auntie says she’ll tell me when I’m older. I think... I think they miss you. Mom got really mad at Grandma Chase for calling me Luke once. Zoey thinks she heard her crying later, but my mom doesn’t cry, she fights monsters.”
“Whoa there slow your roll big guy.” He sat in the dirt trying to regain composure “how old are you anyways?” He was glad Annabeth had married Percy, they had to be good together. He’d heard they’d even been in his neck of the woods once. They were meant for each other. What surprised him was they named their son after him of all people. “We see your….mom….in a bit.” Maybe. It was weird thinking he was probably older than his friends, except Thalia. As a hunter she wouldn’t age she’d still be sixteen. He wondered how she was doing and all the guilt and emotions threatened to overwhelm him and it was all he could do not to cry. “They never told you about me?” His voice wavered a bit.

Luca wondered into his mother’s study, one of his favourite places to hang out, tucked away in the stacks of books or half curled on Annabeth’s lap while she designed some new wing for the library or a temple to be built on the outskirts of town. Today, however, he was on a mission. The eight year old clambered up onto the tall stool next to the drafting table, watching his mother with his wide, steel grey eyes, seemingly the only physical trait he’d gotten from her.
“Mom?”

“Mhm, Annabeth Jackson.” He watched the man curiously, his reactions fascinating to the curious little legacy of Athena. His eyes widened, “You’re that Luke? You have to see my mom, she’ll be so happy!”
“Mom? Your mom’s ANNABETH?!” He was trying not to hyperventilate. “This can’t be possible. They named you after me?” He didn’t know which was harder to believe.

“I’m not supposed to say ass.” He told him, nodding, “But she is a badass. She’s a Hunter of Artemis and she always brings Zoey, Liza, the twins and me the coolest presents. Mom says she spoils us, but Auntie says that’s her job as Mom’s oldest friend.”
Mental overload alert. “Hold on did you say Thalia?” It couldn’t be. “Thalia Grace? Jet black hair eyes as blue as the sky. Total badass?” There was no way his Thalia, his friends, could be parents. He had to pace to get the energy out of his system. This was insane, it was too crazy.
