turns out i’ve had a monster sinus infection just destroying me for like 3 weeks and it finally got so bad that it’s fully knocked me down. thankfully the doctor gave me a couple of extra days of work to heal and take some meds that’ll hopefully help. so i think i’m gonna work on a big fix up of bella while i’m stuck in bed trying to be a well person again. nothing is going to change beyond aesthetically and maybe the addition of a couple of verses !!

---------- it’s on her lips automatically, you don’t have to make it up to me, but this time she doesn’t say it. maybe it’s because right now she’s feeling a little more raw than usual. even if she can understand why he left. and she forgave him long before even going to get him. for that first week all of her pain had been erased. but lately it stings. echoes of that pain coming to haunt her. dreams where he’s gone again. realizing that she’s holding him a little tighter for fear of him disappearing again. or fear that this is all a d e l u s i o n she’s living in. one she concocted just to get through all of that ache.

-------- for a moment she’s sure she misheard him. imagining s t a t i c in the line and her own mind filling in the words. he’s closer now, she can feel it in her bones. the familiar hum of his car in the background growing louder as he speeds up. for a moment she’s back in that car beside him. nervous about the speed but so sure of her safety. so sure of him. bella’s stomach turns as it has every night since she left. why did she ever leave. it took m o n t h s for her to reach out, and it was in the middle of the night woken after being up by a nightmare she could barely remember now. 

there was only instinct in the moment that she dialed his number. and relief when he answered. but what hit the hardest was the surprise she felt when he said he’d come when she asked. maybe he could hear just how much she n e e d e d him no matter how she’d tried to keep her voice steady.

they’d stayed on the line. talking about nothing. letting silence fill the broken spaces between them. it had been so q u i e t for a few minutes now that she almost startled at his voice. unsure how to answer what seemed to be a stray thought that wouldn’t stay put. ❝ would i still be in your dreams anymore ? ❞ bella questions softly as she curls tighter against the arm of her couch, letting the throw blanket all but s w a l l o w her whole.
